Derek

“Kieran, what are you doing with him?”

They both looked at him. Kieran’s eyes widened, whereas Grant had an amused look on his face.

“Look, Kieran, it’s your daddy come to take you home,” said Grant.

“What are you doing here?” Kieran hissed.

“It’s a good job I am here. Come on, you’re leaving,” he said, holding his hand out.

“I don’t believe this,” snapped Kieran. “Can I not make my own fucking choices?”

“You don’t want to get mixed up with him, Kieran.”

“I’d be very careful if I were you,” said Grant. “My tolerance has limits, and you’re pushing them right now.”

“You might scare young kids who aren’t strong enough to say no to you, but I won’t be so easily intimidated.”

Before he could register what was happening, Kieran had belted Derek across the face. It stung like a bitch and got them attention from nearby patrons. It also brought Langdon rushing over.

“What’s going on over here? Do I need to throw one of you out?”

“It’s alright, Langdon,” said Kieran. “I’ll leave these two to it.”

“Kieran,” said Grant. “We haven’t finished discussing our business.”

“What business?” asked Derek.

“None of yours,” said Grant. “Kieran, we can go back to my club and finish our . . . discussion, somewhere more private.”

“Like fuck you will,” snarled Derek.

Why was Kieran with this man? Didn’t he know how dangerous he was? Did Kieran think so little of himself? Or was Grant manipulating him somehow? What business could they have together? Then it came to him.

“You own the tattoo shop, don’t you?”

Grant smiled. “I own many businesses.”

Langdon snorted. “That’s an understatement. Look, why don’t you all use my office to have this discussion without an audience.”

“Kieran is my guest for dinner, Langdon,” said Grant. “It’s this one who stormed over and started throwing around unfounded accusations.”

“You know I’ll throw all your arses out on the street,” said Langdon.

Grant chuckled. “I don’t doubt that, son.

Look at us, Derek, with our stepsons. I’m sitting here in this amazing venue; my boy is the owner.

You’re here, stopping your boy from getting a great business opportunity because of your jealousy.

I want my stepson to be successful. You want yours on his knees with his head bowed. ”

Derek couldn’t do anything to stop his face heating. He dared not look Kieran in the eyes. The last thing he wanted to do was confirm any of the dirty thoughts he’d been having over the past few weeks since they’d become reacquainted. Derek had to be the responsible one here.

“I’ll leave you to your business,” said Derek, through gritted teeth, before walking away.

He thought he’d been protecting Kieran by storming over there, but all he’d done was make a fool of himself. What pissed him off the most was that Grant had been right: he was jealous.

The sound of his doorbell made him jump.

He’d done something he never did and called Neil to say he wouldn’t be at the club tonight.

With the way his mood was, he was worried he’d do something stupid if anyone caused any trouble.

It was eleven o’clock at night now. Who the hell would be at his door?

The bell rang again. He opened the app for the door camera, and almost dropped his phone. It was Kieran.

Part of him was happy that he hadn’t gone back to Grant’s house, but the other part knew that Kieran being at his door this late at night wouldn’t be for a social call.

He was about to get an earful. Derek chuckled at the thought.

He couldn’t help himself with brats. He groaned as he got up, realising he had to get this over with.

“Took your fucking time answering the door, didn’t you,” Kieran snapped, storming past him.

“Please come in, Kieran.”

Derek followed him into the living room. He was about to offer him a drink, but Kieran started pacing.

“Kieran, what are you doing here?”

“Isn’t that what you wanted?”

“I assume this is about Grant. Do you want to sit down?”

“You’d like that, wouldn’t you?”

That made no sense. He was just snapping for the sake of it. Clearly, something had upset him. It was either Derek’s behaviour tonight, or Grant had done something.

“Has Grant hurt you?”

“Him? Him? He’s been nothing but a gentleman to me.”

Derek snorted. Not a word he would associate with Grant Kincaid. Kieran glared at him. He was annoyingly cute when he was scowling, or when he pouted. Not that he wanted his thoughts to go there.

“Do you want to fuck me, Derek, or do you prefer Daddy?”

It wasn’t often Derek was speechless, but he was now. What was happening? He needed to take control of this conversation.

“Kieran, sit down.”

“You don’t get –”

“I said sit,” he barked.

Kieran’s eyes went wide, and he complied immediately. The obedience did nothing to quell Derek’s wandering thoughts.

“Tell me what Grant said to you.”

“He said you were jealous because you wanted me for yourself.”

Derek kept his face neutral. “What else did he say?”

“What about?”

“I want to know all of it, Kieran.”

“Why?”

“Just answer the question,” he said, his tone sterner, which appeared to give Kieran a full-body shudder.

“He offered me a one-off fuck or a promotion.”

Derek asked him to elaborate, and Kieran explained Grant’s offer. He felt a flash of something when he heard about Grant ruining Kieran for other men. He put it down to his protectiveness rather than anything else.

“I assume from your presence here that you chose the promotion.”

“What makes you think I didn’t come here after getting fucked?”

Derek closed his eyes in frustration. If he didn’t have a prior relationship with Kieran, he’d love nothing more than to teach this brat some manners.

“Wouldn’t you be struggling to walk if Grant had lived up to his promise? That’s certainly how people leave here when I’ve given them everything they need.”

Kieran blushed and looked away. Derek wasn’t sure why he’d said that, but his cock certainly liked his reaction. Fuck! He needed to get the conversation into safer territory.

“Kieran, what caused you to come storming round here wanting a fight?”

“Grant said you were jealous.”

“And how do you feel about that?”

“Are you admitting it?”

“That’s not what I said. Answer my question.”

“You’re very bossy.”

“Kieran!”

“Were you my mum’s dom?” He looked shocked that he’d asked that question.

“Do you want me to answer that question, Kieran?”

“I think you just have,” he said, pulling a face.

Derek chuckled. “You shouldn’t make assumptions about people’s preferences, Kieran. I thought you’d be more mindful of that.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

“Well, you’re a sub, aren’t you?”

He shrugged. “I guess. I can’t have this conversation with you. It’s weird.”

“I think we crossed that line when you asked me if I wanted to fuck you.”

Kieran flushed again. It made the tattoos on his neck pop more. The boy was stunning and seemed oblivious to the heads he turned. It hadn’t just been Grant who was looking at him earlier. Kieran had had a lot of lustful eyes on him in Knights Corner.

“You still haven’t answered me,” said Kieran, sticking his chin out, trying to look all defiant.

“I’m not going to fuck you, Kieran. That would be . . . inappropriate.”

“Meaning you wouldn’t be able to handle someone like me,” snapped Kieran.

Derek burst out laughing. He couldn’t help it.

“What the fuck is so funny?” asked Kieran.

“I’ve dealt with bigger brats that you, Kieran. Now, I have some questions for you.”

“You haven’t answered mine yet.”

Derek sighed. “First, as I said, nothing is going to happen between us. Second, my concern over you and Grant was because the man is dangerous. And third, if you insist on knowing, then yes, your mum was my sub.”

Kieran’s eyes widened in horror before he cracked up laughing.

“And before you ask, Kieran, I am not giving you any more details than that.”

“I shouldn’t have come here,” said Kieran, standing up.

“Sit down, Kieran.”

He complied again, like he had no control over his body.

“I answered your questions. Now, you answer mine. First, have you ever had a regular dom?”

Kieran shook his head, looking at the floor.

“I offered to introduce you to some guys who could help you. Is that what you want?”

Kieran shook his head again. Although Derek hated the idea of someone else touching him, he could at least find the right guy to guide him. Someone he trusted, who he knew would respect Kieran’s limits.

“You told me you met the guy from the club online. Is that how you usually meet guys?”

He nodded, still not making eye contact. Was he embarrassed? What was he concerned about? It wasn’t like Derek was going to judge him.

“Who trained you, Kieran?”

“What do you mean?”

“Did you have a dom who trained you, so you knew what your limits were?”

“I know my limits. I don’t need someone else to tell me, and this is a weird as fuck conversation to be having with you.”

“Do you have someone else you can talk to about this?”

Kieran shook his head. Derek wondered if he was even aware of the support system that was available in the community, and if he hadn’t been properly trained, how had he discovered his limits?

Based on his experience with the guy at the club, Derek suspected Kieran was learning things as he went along. Was he even a true submissive?

“What do you usually do with these guys?”

Part of Derek didn’t want to know the answer, as he knew it would flare his jealousy. But he needed to know that Kieran was looking after himself. Even after all these years, Derek couldn’t help but feel protective of him.

“You want me to tell you what guys do to me?” asked Kieran with a smirk. “Why? Are you gonna get off on it?”

“I think it’d be best if you left, Kieran.”

“What?” he said, looking shocked.

“I’d like to have a conversation with an adult, not a teenager throwing a tantrum.”

“I heard you liked brats.”

“There’s a difference between a brat and an immature teenager, Kieran.”

He jumped up and stormed over to Derek, who didn’t move. Kieran’s fists were balled. Derek didn’t think he’d hit him, but if he did, he doubted Kieran could do much damage. The slap earlier had only stung for a few seconds, but it had also given him a semi.

“What gives you the right to talk to me like that? You lost that right ten years ago when you fucked up my life. If I hadn’t had to stay in that godforsaken place, my choices wouldn’t have been taken away from me.

If you were so horrified with what she did, you could have come and found me and saved me from that place. ”

Derek wasn’t sure what he was talking about, but he had an inkling. He knew he’d need to proceed cautiously, as he doubted Kieran had meant to say all that. He was angry, and he might blow up further or completely shut down.

“I’m sorry I didn’t try to find you. I didn’t think you’d want to see me, and I didn’t want to cause you any more pain. I also thought you had enough money to see you through until university started.”

Kieran sighed, his fists loosening, but his jaw was still clenched.

“Did someone hurt you, Kieran?”

He nodded, looking at the floor. Derek felt a flash of rage. Who could have hurt a teenage Kieran? He’d been such a sweet boy. But he didn’t need an angry Derek right now.

“Do you want to talk about it, Kieran?”

He shook his head.

“Would you like to stay here tonight?”

Kieran nodded. The tension in his body was gone.

He’d withdrawn into himself. No fight left in him tonight.

Derek needed to get him into bed, so he stood up and took hold of Kieran’s hand.

It felt right, but that wasn’t something he could think about too much.

Kieran looked at their joined hands and gave a small smile. It was something.

Derek led him upstairs to the spare room, then got him a towel and something to sleep in. He reminded Kieran where everything was. He was sitting on the bed, staring into space, and Derek wanted to pull him into a hug, but that would probably backfire.

“Get ready for bed, and I’ll get you some water,” he said before leaving.

Derek needed a minute to himself. He still wasn’t completely sure why Kieran had come around tonight.

It was clear Grant had said something. The man might be a criminal, but he could read people, and he’d picked up on Derek’s jealousy.

It was something he’d need to get over if he wanted Kieran in his life.

He grabbed a bottle of water and went back upstairs.

The bedroom door was partly open, and what Derek saw took his breath away.

Kieran had stripped down to a jock, with his glorious arse on display.

His entire body was covered in ink, but his arse was untouched.

Two round orbs, just begging to be gripped hard so they bruised when you were fucking his hole.

He couldn’t look away and felt his cock hardening.

Before he could leave and give Kieran a moment to finish getting ready, he turned and their eyes met. Kieran smiled at him before walking over and opening the door fully.

“Thank you,” he said, taking the water bottle. “Need any help with that?” he asked, nodding at the obvious bulge in Derek’s trousers.

That snapped Derek out of his inappropriate thoughts. He gave Kieran a smile, and before he could overthink it, bent down to kiss him gently on the cheek.

“Goodnight, Kieran,” he said before walking away and not looking back.

His mind was racing. Sleep wouldn’t come easily tonight.
