Chapter 15

FIFTEEN

Grant

With the woman of my dreams in my hold, I can’t imagine life getting any better than this. We have a lot to work through, but I never thought I’d find someone who would be my true counterpart in life.

Cara stirs in my arms, and I still. After a long, eventful night, we didn’t get to bed until the sun was rising.

We have a busy night ahead of us, but for now, I’ll live in this moment. There’s plenty of time to worry about the mission, Luke’s reaction, and the conversations that we need to have.

“Go back to sleep,” Cara mumbles against my chest.

I try to stifle my laughter.

“Ugh,” she groans.

“Not a morning person. Noted.”

She rubs her hand against my chest, and it stirs my cock to life.

“Coffee?” I ask.

Her hand travels down the length of my chest and stomach until she finally reaches the waistband of my boxers.

Slowly, her hand gropes the outline of my cock.

“What are you thinking?” I groan.

Cara starts to rub it back and forth until I’m firmly hard and in her hold.

“I’m thinking I can’t get enough of you,” she murmurs.

With her still snuggled into my side, I use my other hand to travel beneath her shirt, caressing her as I go. I reach my destination of her perfect handful of breasts.

She whimpers as I start to massage them.

Cara removes her hand from the top of my boxers and dips it beneath the waistband. Her warm hand wraps around my cock, and it starts leaking onto her fingertips.

“Such a perfect girl,” I say as she grips my cock and moves methodically back and forth.

“You’re so big. I can’t believe this was inside of me.”

“I’d like to be again.”

“Mmm, but isn’t this nice?”

“That’s putting it mildly.”

I tweak one of her nipples, and she moans into my ear.

That’s it.

I remove my hand from underneath her shirt and Cara’s from inside my boxers.

“What?” she asks, confused.

In one swift motion, I grip her waist and pull her on top of me. She yelps in surprise as she tries to find her balance.

I lift the hem of her shirt, taking it off and throwing it onto the ground. She goes back to balancing her hands on my chest. It gives me the opportunity to lean slightly forward and pull down my boxers. I kick them off, and they roll up into the sheets.

“That was slick,” she says with a giggle.

I grin as I lift her up slightly and position her bare pussy over my cock.

“You’re drenched.”

“It’s what you seem to do to me.”

She keeps a hold on my chest as she starts to grind against the length of my cock.

“I need to be inside you immediately.”

I grip her hips and pop her up slightly to line up my erect cock. She helps me as she slowly slides onto it.

“Fuck,” she moans with her head hanging back.

“That’s it,” I say to encourage her.

Fully on my cock, she adjusts to the position. The vision of her rocking slowly and her tits bouncing is incredible.

“I love the way you look riding me.”

Cara opens her eyes and peers down. She starts to rock harder, and it makes her tits look like she’s a porn star fucking me as a show.

I fold my arms beneath my head.

“Use me. This cock is for your pleasure.”

She starts to ride me harder and lets out little whimpers as she goes.

“Grant,” she moans as she goes faster.

I can tell my girl is getting close from the way she shuts her eyes and gets lost in chasing her pleasure.

“I’m going to come inside you.”

“Yes,” she whimpers.

That sets her off, and she starts to scream.

My girl’s a screamer, and I fucking love it. I follow behind her and let my cum seep into her pussy.

Out of breath, Cara makes eye contact with me once again, and I can’t help but let a smug smile stretch across my face.

Making this woman come is going to be my lifelong goal.

“Well, good morning,” Cara teases.

“A very good morning for me.”

She blushes and then starts to get off my cock. I instantly feel the loss.

As she heads into her bathroom, I love seeing her body sway as she goes. She looks over her shoulder at me as if she knew I was watching her.

“I’m never going to take my eyes off you again.”

“Good. I like you a little possessive.”

She disappears from my line of sight. Possessive? This woman is my wife. That doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel about keeping her safe and mine.

I hop out of bed, find my discarded boxers, and put them on first, followed by my same joggers and shirt from last night.

As I finish getting dressed, a naked Cara comes out of the bathroom.

“I’ll start some coffee.”

“That’d be great. I’ll meet you down there. I have to check in with Ruby again.”

“Maybe I need a new assistant because Rob isn’t as forthcoming as he usually is.”

“He’s just holding down your whole office. Cut him some slack.”

“You’re right.”

I step forward and place a gentle kiss on top of her head as I wrap her in my arms. She brings her arms around me, and I love the feel of her bare tits pressed against me.

“I’m going to want to fuck you again if we keep at this,” I tease.

“I wouldn’t object.”

I groan, and it makes Cara laugh.

“I’ll see you down there,” I say and place another kiss on top of her head.

“That smells great,” Cara says as she walks into the living room.

The news is on low in the background, and I’ve opened the curtains to let the natural light in. Cara’s in a fitted tank top and yoga pants.

She picks up her coffee and gets settled, curled up at my side. I wrap my arm around her and start to rub her arm.

“This is nice,” she says.

Cara takes a sip of her coffee and then glances up at me. Indecision fills her expression.

“You know how I like my coffee?” she asks.

“We’ve been living together for a while. It’s an easy thing to learn.”

“Not for everyone.”

“Catching on to how you like your coffee is the bare minimum, love.”

Cara smiles shyly before focusing back on the news.

“I have a question for you,” I say.

“What’s that?”

“Why didn’t you meet me in Willow Park that night?”

“The night we discovered one another?”

“Yes.”

Cara moves up and shifts on the couch to face me. She grips her coffee mug.

“I couldn’t believe it was you.”

“That I know.”

“I didn’t know what to say.”

“We could have started off differently.”

“I was afraid. This job is something that is mine. At the time, I was so young and unsure of my direction. This job made me who I am, and I didn’t want to share it with anyone in the real world.”

“Which would have been me.”

“Yes. You’re such good friends with my parents, and even though I knew you wouldn’t tell them, it just felt like this special thing I had for myself was going to be taken away. So I just decided to pretend like it didn’t happen.”

“Until we kept running into each other.”

She smiles, but then it turns down.

“Yeah.”

“What’s wrong?”

“I wish I had handled it differently.”

“Well, I don’t think either of us assumed this would happen between us.”

“No, I suppose not.”

She takes a sip of her coffee, and I set mine down on the coffee table.

“Can I ask you something?” she asks.

“Of course.”

“Did you really not remember what happened in Barcelona when you took the Holden contract?”

Barcelona.

Fuck.

I hadn’t at the time, but now, as I watch the love of my life look pained, I remember it all. What she told me about them not believing in her as a woman, not feeling good enough in the field, all of it.

“You didn’t,” she whispers, relieved.

“Cara, I promise I didn’t. I wouldn’t have done business with them at all if I had. Do you believe me?”

She sets down her coffee and then takes my hands in hers.

“I do.”

“Fuck. I feel terrible.”

“Don’t. Really. I believe you.”

“I’m sorry.”

“Thank you,” she says with a squeeze of my hands.

“Do you remember what you said to me that night?”

“Not really,” I admit.

“You told me to tell all those fuckfaces to fuck right off if they couldn’t see the talent and brilliance that you see in me,” she says with a laugh.

I let go of her hands and scratch the back of my neck.

“Fuckfaces, huh? Real smooth of me.”

“It helped. I was so distraught, and it brought a sense of ease.”

“I suppose that’s good, at least.”

I lean back into the corner of the sofa. Cara tucks her legs under her as she leans one arm on the back of it and rests her head on her hand.

“You also told me how great I was in the field. Grant, you have no idea how much you inspired me.”

“I thought I was just a thorn in your side,” I tease.

“Well, you were certainly that too.”

“It was fun tormenting you.”

“Oh, believe me, I know you were having a good time when you would get somewhere first or catch the culprit before I arrived.”

“Don’t act like you didn’t find the same sense of victory when it was you.”

Cara laughs freely.

“It was nice when it was me one-upping you.”

“It was good for me, too, seeing you winning.”

“Always on my side.”

“What’s that?”

Cara sits up straight.

“I never saw it. But you really were always on my side. The whole time.”

“I always wanted what was best for you. I saw what you had. I simply played a small part in helping you grow.”

Cara leans forward and kisses me softly. As she pulls back, she wraps her arms around my neck as she stays kneeling on the couch.

“You’ve been here the whole time, and I’m just seeing you now.”

I rub her back gently.

“What’s important is we both got here.”

She kisses me once more before getting back to her original position across from me.

“Can I ask you something else?” she asks.

“You don’t have to preface it like that.”

“The other night, Noelle told me about something I’d like to talk to you about, but if it’s too much, then I understand.”

“What is it?”

“She told me about you and Brad and the fire.”

I sigh as I scrub my hand down my face.

“She did?”

“Kind of. She didn’t go into details. I was hoping you could tell me.”

“I’m not trying to hide this from you, but it’s a rather simple story.”

“I’m listening.”

“Brad and I were out one night. I saved his life from a burning building.”

Cara gasps, and her eyes widen.

“I know it sounds over-the-top, but Brad really felt like a friend. I probably had gotten too close to him in such a short amount of time, but that’s what he was.”

“I understand how that could happen.”

“I saw the building on fire and knew Brad was in there. I didn’t think—I just reacted. Ever since that night, Brad has had a soft spot for our friendship.”

“That really…”

“What?”

“Well, that really explains a lot, actually.”

“I never meant to hide it from you. It’s just complicated. Brad and I both know we shouldn’t be friends in any capacity for a multitude of reasons.”

“Yet you are.”

“Yeah, my love. We are. I can’t help it.”

Cara smiles at the idea of me having a friendship with Brad. It really was out of place, but it just happened. I wouldn’t call it a friendship but a mutual respect, maybe. Either way, I won’t dissect it much further. It serves its purpose for both of us in different ways.

“We have to talk about tonight,” she says with a sigh.

“The only problem I see in front of us is the code needed right before Taby’s quarters.”

“You wrote down what you think it is, right?”

“I did. Her assistant did it so quickly though—I don’t think we should rely on it.”

“I’m good with security systems.”

“Believe me, I’m glad you’re on my team for this one.”

“Me too.”

I glance at my watch, and it’s a little past three in the afternoon.

“Taby won’t be there tonight,” Cara says.

“How do you know that?” I ask as I look back up at her.

“I found her schedule in the office. She’ll be at a meeting uptown all night. No details on it, but at least we’ll be in the clear.”

“Outside of her security and guards still there.”

“Easy for us.”

I chuckle.

“I certainly hope so.”

“I think the best time to get there is midnight. Let the place be packed so we can go unnoticed by the guards.”

“We’ll have to stop the cameras.”

“Which means limited time to get through the halls and into her quarters.”

“Right.”

“Don’t worry; that’s simple. They’ll think it’s a glitch if we’re less than a minute.”

I consider what she’s saying. If we’re quick, then we could easily get down the halls and into her quarters in that time. The only issue is the code.

“We’ve got this. You trust me, right?” she asks.

“Implicitly.”
