Epilogue Romantic Night In
Tenn closed the door behind the server who had just delivered their meal for the Romantic Night In experience in their one-bedroom King Suite with a river view. They had checked in the previous day when they arrived in Quebec City and spent the whole day taking pictures of the old buildings in the city. Tenn had also snuck a couple of shots of her explaining that he was going to print them off and have them framed for his office, then asked if she’d let him do a whole series of her. She asked for a bit to think about it, knowing she’d say yes but wanting to hold off on it until she gave him her news.
They returned to the hotel to find a huge bouquet of red roses, chocolates made by a local chocolatier, and a bunch of bath oils and bubble baths. Quinn was touched that Tenn had gone through so much trouble for her birthday and was making plans for his birthday in her head as they ate the molten chocolate cake and ice cream.
When they were done, Tenn set a small box on the table and slid it over to her. “The rest of your gift.” He explained when she looked at him in confusion.
“You should keep it for my actual birthday.” She chuckled as she picked it up. “It’s only another month.”
“I was going to, but I changed my mind.” He picked up his glass of wine and sipped it. “I want you to have it now.”
Quinn opened the box, revealing a pear-shaped emerald ring surrounded by tiny diamonds and a white gold band. “Tenn, it's beautiful!” Tears filled her eyes, and she ducked her head to hide them. God, her emotions had been all over the place lately.
“I'm glad you think so.” He stood up and picked up the box; taking the ring out, he picked up her left hand. “Marry me.”
“Yes,” Quinn whispered, her heart beating wildly as he slid the ring over her finger and kissed her. “We're gonna have to do a courthouse wedding though, within the next six months or so.”
Tenn pulled her up and kissed her. “Whatever you want.” his hands were behind her, unzipping her dress, and she smiled against his lips.
“And we'll do an actual wedding after the baby is born.”
Tenn stopped trying to get her dress off and stared at her. “What?”
“We'll do an actual wedding after the baby is born.” She repeated, wondering how he was going to respond. Given the timeframe, she was fairly certain she had gotten pregnant the first time they had sex.
“Baby?” He asked faintly
“Yeah.” She was starting to get nervous about his response and was a little worried he was about to pass out.
“We're gonna have a baby?” Tenn repeated, and she felt the smile slip off her face. She had been so sure he’d be happy.
“Yeah, we're gonna have a baby.” She anxiously searched his face, looking for any sign that he wasn’t about to freak out. “Are you happy?”
To her surprise, Tenn dropped to his knees and pressed his face into her stomach. “I'm going to be a dad?” She relaxed immediately, watching as he closed his eyes when she ran her hands through his hair.
“Yeah.” She said softly. “You're gonna be a dad.”
“When?”
“Late January, early February.”
“When can we tell everyone?” Tenn's voice was getting louder as his shock faded and his happiness came through.
“When we get back.” Quinn laughed. “I’m about nine weeks along, so I’ll be in the safe zone by then.
“We'll bring back souvenirs for everyone, telling them they're gonna be aunts and uncles.” Getting to his feet, Tenn picked her up in his arms, carrying her to the bedroom.
“I'm gonna be a dad.”
