20. AMylo

Life was good. I loved Lee with all of me, and I was determined to make sure I was always there for her.

As I watched her get dressed, I tried my hardest not to get a hard-on.

Tonight was the last night of our trip, and I dreaded it.

I wanted to freeze time and keep us here.

This had been one of the best times of my life.

My cheeks were still hurting from smiling and laughing so much.

Lee always kept me happy, even when I was pissed off at her.

But this weekend, we didn't argue. We only bickered and laughed about it. That was my baby.

"I'm ready," she announced as she turned away from the bathroom mirror.

I rubbed my hands together as I eyed her, swiping my tongue across my bottom lip. She wore a red sweater dress with black high-heeled boots. Her makeup looked natural, and the lip gloss she wore gave her lips an extra shine. She wanted to get fucked before we left.

"Damn, baby. You look good enough to eat. Can I have a bite?"

She threw her head back and giggled. "Please stop. No! You said we have reservations, and we can't miss that."

I groaned. "Man, why you got to bring that up? I thought you loved me."

She gave me a stern look as she placed her hands on her hips. "Get out and let me walk by. Don't touch me."

As soon as she walked past me, I slapped her ass, causing her to hiss.

"Don't tell me not to touch you, because that's going to make me do it."

"I can't stand you," she playfully snapped.

I laughed. "I love you too, baby."

She went back into the room, put her purse over her body, and turned to me. "You don't look half bad yourself. I see you still wearing black."

I shrugged and eyed the outfit I wore... a black button-down shirt with black slacks. We put on our coats and turned to face each other. Pulling Leighton close to me, I kissed her until she was breathless.

"Are you ready?" I asked her.

She nodded and reached out her hand for me to take it. When I did, we made our way to the door. Once outside, she shivered, causing me to wrap my arms around her shoulders.

The drive to the restaurant took only five minutes. On the way there, we rode in silence. My heart throbbed in my chest as I thought of the night ahead. I arrived at the restaurant and parked my car. After turning off the engine, I turned to her, seeing that she had fallen asleep.

I chuckled, knowing we were on the move since we got here. We were up at the crack of dawn and wouldn't go to sleep until after midnight. I tapped her leg lightly to wake her up. She stirred and turned her head toward me.

She chuckled. "Of course I'd fall asleep."

I smiled. "Yeah. That seems to always happen with you. Let's go."

We made it to the entry of the restaurant, and I held the door open for Lee.

I gave the greeter my name, and they seated us and left us with menus.

I took a minute to observe my surroundings.

The place was small but roomy, with only a few patrons dining in.

Soft music played in the background, creating a romantic atmosphere.

The server came to take our order.

"Hello. May I start you off with something to drink?"

"We'd like your bottle of wine with two glasses of water, please. Add lemon," I requested.

She nodded with a smile. "I'll be back with your drinks momentarily."

"This place is a vibe. Where'd you find it?" Leighton asked.

"I saw it on the way here in the cut, so while I got the bags out of the car, I made the reservation ahead of time."

"That was smart, especially when you didn't know if the place would've been packed or not."

"Right."

The server came with our bottle of wine, set two glasses down on the table, and left, returning a short time later with our order.

Leighton appeared to be confused as she sat up straighter in her seat.

What she didn't know was that I had ordered ahead as well.

Since I knew what she liked to eat, I ordered what I knew she'd eat, plus some options she could try.

"Is everything to your liking, sir? Madam?" the server asked with their hands behind their back.

I nodded as I eyed all the food. "Yeah. It's all good. I just need that other request, ASAP."

The server bowed before she left the table.

I felt Leighton's eyes on me, but she remained quiet. I almost wanted to blurt out what I had to say, but I kept it together. I reached for her to say grace, and she wasted no time putting her hand in mine as I blessed the food.

"I don't know where to start." I nervously chuckled, eyeing the food.

"Yeah, it's a lot of good stuff. We'll be taking a lot of this food with us. I've never seen some of it before," she stated.

"Let's try some of these. Do you want to try the stuffed mushrooms?" I held up the basket for her to see.

She shook her head wildly. "No, thank you."

I pressed my lips together to keep from laughing loudly. "C'mon, you'll enjoy them."

Lee continued to shake her head. "I'll pass."

I chuckled and reached for one and popped it in my mouth. Her eyes were on me with a cringe look on her face. "Stop looking at me like that. It's good. You're just a picky eater."

"I'm glad you know because I am." She reached for her wineglass and took a sip. "I..."

Leighton's words died on her lips when the server returned with a platter that was closed. She set it in the middle of the table and then walked away.

"Is she bringing more food out?" Lee asked. "We haven't even finished the food that we have."

I pointed to her. "You haven't started yet. I did. Eat up. Could you please try some of the food you've never had before, for me? You might like it."

Leighton twisted her lips but said nothing. "Fine. Only for you."

I sighed with relief. Getting Lee to do things was like pulling teeth with your hands.

That Scorpio came out of her with everything she did.

We ate in silence for a while, and I was ready to get the second part of my night done.

It burned a hole through me as I tried to find the right way to go about it.

If I didn't do this, I was going to lose my cool in a good way.

"Are you okay?" she asked.

I nodded curtly, knowing I was nervous. "The server brought out a platter for you."

She lifted a brow and leaned back in her seat. "For me?"

I smiled. "Yes, it's for you. They should have said something, but yeah for you."

The perplexed look on her face deepened as she eyed me and covered dome. "What is it?"

I laughed and shrugged. "How am I to know? That's something you'll have to figure out on your own."

As much as I wanted to lift the dome for her because I got impatient, I waited.

She slowly reached out her hand and lifted the dome from the plate. Her eyes widened before her hand flew to her mouth.

"A'Mylo," she whispered as her eyes bounced from me to the covered dome that sat in the middle of the table. "What is this?"

I smiled as I wiped my hands with a napkin. My heart was bursting with happiness right now. "What does it look like?"

It was time I got out of my seat to face her, but I wanted her to tell me what she saw. That was the only way I'd continue.

"It's a ring box, and I want to know why?" Tears misted her eyes. "No way you're being serious."

I chuckled. "I am, baby. You know I don't half-step when I do anything.

Why do you think I brought you here? This is a romantic place, and the vibe here is all about love.

And as you know, I love you with all of me, which will never change.

I'm trying to make sure that it doesn't. As a team, we'd have to be willing to make this work between us. Are you down to do that?"

Leighton nodded as a tear slipped out of her eyes. "I'll do anything that'll make this relationship work. I love you so much, A'Mylo, and being your wife would make me very happy."

I smirked and stood up, getting the black ring box from the plate.

I opened it and walked around to her side of the table.

"I'm happy to hear that, baby." Getting down on one knee, I grasped one of her hands and stared deeply into her eyes.

"Since I met you, I knew you'd be mine. While I searched for my dream home, I had already found the woman of my dreams. I love you wholeheartedly, Leighton Myles. Will you marry me?"

She nodded with a smile. "Yes, I'll marry you, Mylo. I love you so much."

I stood up, and she did too. We embraced and shared a kiss as applause and congratulations went out.

She held my face in her hands and laughed. "You're so sneaky."

I laughed. "Nah, I just know how to be secretive when it counts."

Lee leaned forward, and our lips touched again. Her presence always gave me joy, but tonight it had me over the moon. My heart sang with praise as I held my fiancée in my arms.

I pulled back and gazed into her eyes. "We'll take this to go. I need you, baby."

She smiled brightly. "I was thinking the same thing."

After I waved down a server, we packed up all the food. All along, Leighton kept a smile on her face. That was what I wanted to see. I came on this vacation with my girlfriend, and tomorrow, I will go back home with my fiancée. Man, life was truly good.
