Chapter Three #3
I ignored the ringing until it stopped as I closed my eyes again. My body had little time to prepare for the next round of sex. After four months of violating one another, sleep was the only time we could catch a break.
Bzzzz
Bzzzz
The phone started to ring, vibrating in the sheets as I exhaled.
When it stopped again, I was just about to settle when it started again.
Slowly, I turned around, feeling for my phone before looking at the screen to see Maggie Grey…
had called four times. With a sniff, I swiped at the screen and laid the phone against my ear.
“Hello?”
“Where–––What…are you asleep? It’s the afternoon! You realize school starts Friday, yes?!”
“Is it that time already?” I asked, rolling over on my back as I placed her on speaker. Glancing to my side, the man only known as Harmless Harvey wouldn’t wake up even if I shook him. “I lost track of time months ago…”
Stretching with my arms reaching for the headboard, my breasts popped out from underneath the sheets where I could see my light complexion that hasn’t seen the sun in months, was filled with red bruises.
“Nevermind that, I need–––Wait, this is Asha calling back right now,” she said before clicking over. Scratching at my scattered sandy brown hair, I yawned before hearing the next familiar voice on the phone.
“She’s probably laying up there with some man!” Asha declared with her thick New York accent. “You already know how Souxie moves…”
“He’s sleeping so keep your voice down,” I said with a soft southern belle-like tone.
“See?” Asha laughed. “Hold up, Isis is calling. I’m sure Quan is with her now. Let me connect her through.”
Just moments later, I could hear my favorite nymph make herself known.
“Maaaagieeee!” Isis shouted. “Souxie! I can’t wait to see you guys!”
The reunion was very much needed. The four entities to make up my time at Drew Collins University.
Maggie Grey, the woman with the white hair that comes from the most infamous vampiric family in the entire lore that is the Underground.
Asha Avery, the abrasive siren with an New York attitude I tolerated most days because deep down, I knew she was the most sensitive out of us.
She had the protective spirit that none of us could match.
Isis…my little nymph who knew how to party and have a good time…
. She was needed when we needed to find whatever was required at that moment.
Her network went far and then there was Quan…
our mascot and talking chubby black cat who talked the most shit, but I loved him all the same.
“We need to come up with a game plan about my parents,” Maggie said as I listened to the voices in the background of her call. “Namir is basically shutting down on me as we get closer to the start of school, and I don’t want to bother him with it anymore.”
“Where are you?”
“At the school.”
“Already?” Asha let out. “I haven’t left my man’s bed yet…I honestly don’t wanna go back.”
“I had to go find this damn lady that they wanted at the school and bring her back but she…They were so adamant about getting her here, but she has no idea about this place. It’s a lot. A bunch of sorority nonsense.”
I began to tune her out as I looked at my nails. There was dried blood embedded underneath where I dug into his skin, and a few broken nails from attempting to grab the headboard. Smiling, I snuggled deeper into the sheets at the fond memories
“Anyway,” Maggie went on. “I’ve been reading up on different things about a blood contract and can’t really find much.”
“Well you won’t find much online, not with that type of work,” Isis explained. “You’re going to have to go to the library for that.”
“What does Namir say about this?” Asha asked.
“Namir gets all weird every time I bring it up, but nobody is doing anything. Dr. Holmes himself is obviously occupied with being arrested and all. I basically haven’t heard from my brother since he claimed he was my brother….”
The girls began to talk, distracting themselves once more as Harmless Harvey slowly turned over with his hand already reaching underneath the sheets to grab my leg.
His thick brows and curly lashes always stood out as he opened his eyes.
He always looked raw, and naked without his glasses.
Harvey blinked a few times, eyes blacking out like empty eye sockets before.
“Good morning,” he said in a groggy deep tone.
“Afternoon,” I replied.
“Oooo is that him, Souxie?” Isis asked. Harvey stood up to let the afternoon light hit his bedroom from the windows as I stared at all the paraphernalia of Drew Collins.
He had books, scarves and bags all packed up and ready to go along with his uniform of a black blazer hanging from his bedroom door.
“So y'all not even remotely interested in dating?” Asha pressed.
“Harvey is…” I started, watching him stand completely naked in front of his drawer as he fixed his broken glasses.
I saw the scratch marks beat his pale brown skin red and the muscles twitch against his back as he continued to stretch his neck from side to side.
“A handsome man who I’m sure will find a lovely girlfriend when he gets to Drew Collins. ”
“Sooooooooo not you?” Asha asked with a laugh.
“No. I’m not interested in anything beyond sex with him. Most incubus are only good for that and nothing more…I require a little more light to balance the dark in order to appear…whole. This will probably be the last time we ever speak to one another again.”
He pushed his glasses up over his eyes, blinking a few times with a scrunch of his nose before putting them back down on the dresser. On the outside, he was about as square as they come. A very matter of fact type of man. Logical, sensible, and nothing like his reckless brother.
“Well damn,” Asha let out.
“Cold blooded woman,” Maggie said with a suck of her teeth. “Just cold blooded, and she probably said that in front of him.”
“Mmm no,” Isis added. “She’s keeping it safe…An incubus is nothing to play with. They’re up there with werewolves to me in terms of sex. I don’t recommend it.”
Asha scoffed at the thought.
“What haven’t y'all tried? Damn! Besides, what’s an incubator?”
“Incubus,” I replied as I watched Harvey crack his neck again with his shoulders rotating. His body was attempting to shift. “Have you ever heard of the phrase of a man being on demon time?”
“Yeaaaa…” Maggie and Asha slowly replied as Isis giggled.
I watched Harvey’s eyes blink rapidly in the mirror before they blacked out completely like empty eye sockets.
He lowered his head for a moment as two thick bones slowly pushed from his scalp on each side.
Curling back against his head, his body stretched a little taller, muscles a little more defined and the spine of his bone pressed against his skin.
“A man that claims to be on demon time is channeling the energy of an incubus,” I said as Harvey reached down to pick up a bottle of lubricant.
“It’s the highest level of sexual energy you could only hope to have and exchange…
To achieve this is to receive enlightenment of the body, mind, and soul through obsession, possession, and pleasure. ”
“Also the most dangerous,” Isis added. “Again, I do not recommend it. They can kill you just trying to get off. Drain you of your energy and manipulate you into doing their bidding.”
“Look! No more talks about freaky demon sex!” Maggie let out, getting us back on track.
“Can everyone just agree to find out what they can about this blood contract stuff? I’m tired of waiting and watching the only family I have forget about me in real time.
There are just too many questions I have.
We already said this year, it will be about me. ”
Everyone agreed as if the meeting adjourned. Harvey leaned down with his long claw-like fingers reaching underneath the sheets to grab my foot. He slid my body down the mattress with his tongue curling out and down his chin like a roll in anticipation.
“Agreed,” I managed before gasping at the first intrusion of his body into mine.
