Xavier Martin #2
“Now Sabrina,” he whispered as the wolf began to sniff around my feet.
“I’m no Salem so I’m not usually this chatty.
If this was any other time, I would have you hung in my freezer and slowly drain you over time for my club as a specialty drink…
We’d call it the X Martini. You would be a missing student until you were no longer missed.
Don’t let your ambitions cloud your judgement into thinking you could ever… EVER!”
I closed my eyes as my body flinched at his sudden tone.
“Ahh he’s scared,” the other said with a laugh.
“Don’t let your ambitions,” he repeated as his nail repeatedly pressed and poked into my skin where a vein bubbled just underneath.
I could hear the saliva gathering around his mouth when he spoke.
“Cloud your judgement into thinking you could ever step to my sister. She is not like me. She is no killer. What you fear she is, I’m afraid is the very thing… I am. Tread lightly around that one…”
“I wasn’t going to put my hands on her–––”
“Mmmm FUCKKK! Don’t SPEAK!” He spat angrily as his hand gripped tighter around my neck, causing my chin to lift.
My breaths became shallow as I dropped the air pods to the ground.
“It’s been so long since I’ve fed on a body and you’re right here…
the original source…. I can lock in on your throat…
cut out any scream, and any feeble curse you may utter under your breath.
Your body would belong to me the moment your blood enters my mouth.
Every First Family member would come out of hiding in order to feast on you…
you would be the sole reason why we live another hundred or so years…
all because you stepped to the one with the white hair… ”
He inhaled a shaky breath against my neck while his nail pressed into my skin.
“There is a vein right here…” he muttered, hearing the saliva stretch against his teeth. “I can feel your blood thickening…”
I closed my eyes as my body froze. I should have been able to recite a spell or a curse. I should have been able to do something but when I felt a thick cold tongue slather against my neck for a slow swipe of my skin, I knew there was no greater fear than this that I’ve ever experienced.
“Oh! Oh look! He peed on himself! Ha!”
The other stepped back as I swallowed the lump in my throat while my body tried to calm itself down. The wolf leaned down to smell it before turning to lift his leg up as he shot a stream of his own urine against my shoes.
“Your family must be very proud of you…that you’re a Martin,” the one with the red eyes said with a sarcastic tone.
“You’re the epitome of what one expects when they encounter a powerful witch…
or warlock…what pronouns do you prefer? I want to be respectful.
Witch? Warlock? Them or they? Sabrina or are you pussy like Salem?
” He gasped before pointing at me with a smug grin and a fake British accent.
“It’s Harry, you prefer Harry Potter…” I said nothing but the rage was slowly building as well as the burning feeling in my eyes.
“Well, it doesn't matter. Stay the fuck away from my sister before I kill you.”
“I need to learn to be dark and brooding like that…” the wolf said as he kicked up the dirt with his back legs before walking off. “I just attack…I really don’t know any other way.”
“Unfortunately it's a family trait to be dramatic and dark… Does something to the blood when the anxiety and fear is all riled up,” the other said as the two began to walk off.
I stood there, waiting until their bodies disappeared before slapping my hand against my neck, expecting blood or a wound, anything!
There was nothing. Not even a trace of his saliva against my skin.
Dragging my hand down my face, I looked around as the sun continued to rise.
I could hear the band practicing at a neighboring field and hear whistles blow.
Unless you’re ready to shoot, do not touch the trigger button.
I burst into my bathroom as I snatched the lights on and started the shower. Staring at the mirror, I could see my eyes were red and the feeling of a hand around my neck still lingered.
“FUCK!” I screamed, swiping at the faucet to cut the water on.
I aggressively brushed my face before glaring at myself in the mirror.
All I could think about was the tongue…that sick cold tongue belonging to the dead sliding against my neck.
Death was right there in my face, and I did nothing, NOTHING!
Suddenly, I reached underneath the cabinets, moving boxes and jars aside until I found some cheap plastic razors the school provides for an all-male housing.
With trembling fingers, I fumbled to get the blade out as thoughts of my neck being snapped in half flashed into my head.
His teeth latching onto my skin made me slap my neck again before checking in the mirror to see nothing.
Not even a scratch where his nail poked at my skin.
“Hey?!”
The knocking on the bathroom door did nothing to deter me as I heard my best friend and roommate Robert Calhoun just on the other side.
“Did you hear that damn morning announcement from the dean when you were on your run? The woman intends to wake us up every morning with that shit! Open up! Let me just grab my shit underneath the sink real quick bro!”
“Ahhhgh!” I screamed in anger as the bloody razor dropped in the sink. The droplets of red blood began to cover the counter as I pinched at the blade to grab again.
“X? Xavier?!” Rob shouted. “What the–––Shit…your damn alarm is going off in your room again! Why don’t you shut that shit off when you leave!? I hope you got the chance to settle the mess with Dani!”
I stared at myself in the mirror as I touched my neck again.
Pull the trigger…
“Xavier?!”
I opened the bathroom door with a sniff as I pulled at my blood-stained shirt. Rob was barefoot in his basketball shorts when he stopped short of walking and stared.
“W-what…what happened?” He asked. “Shit, what the fuck happened?!”
“I…I was attacked,” I said as I touched the side of my neck, feeling the blood building up from the wound against my neck. “I don’t know who it was…somebody in the First Family was waiting on me…I…”
I looked at my wrist as blood began pumping out of the split vein as droplets tapped onto the hardwood floor. Rob gripped his head, unsure of what to think but the fear was obvious.
“Was it…her? Was it Maggie that did this?”
I started to choke at the mention of her name, unable to say it without that chilling feeling of her brother standing behind me so I shook my head.
“They are hiding in plain sight now…they are waiting for the right moments to attack…”
“So they did this to you…they tried to feed on you, and you fought them off? No security or cameras caught any of this?!” Rob yelled. “How can the school let something like this happen?!”
The trigger had officially been pulled.
