Chapter Twenty-One

Bellamy Holmes

I sat down on the chair that faced down a hallway where my sister was being held in the back room.

The house was busy with healers moving around, Raven and my mother were trying to clean up while draining whatever blood was left from the bodies they brought back.

Himora was here. Along with Asha and the nymph named Isis.

The princess chick was with them as they listened to her tell the wonderful adventures of her and Maggie, and wherever the fuck they’ve been at.

Namir finally calmed down enough to shift back into his human form.

They kept him outside, away from the house to keep everyone else safe.

After a few attempts of clawing at the bedroom door that kept Maggie separated, he was essentially put down and pulled away from her until he returned to his human form.

So occasionally I would get up and stalk towards the back room, grab the knob and press my ear against the door, still hearing furniture move around but this time, as I listened, it was quiet.

Pushing the door open with a shove, I barged right in and saw my sister fully clothed in a large t-shirt with sweatpants as smaller objects such as a remote, toilet paper, kids’ toys, and shoes floated towards her body as she inhaled and pulled away with each exhale.

She wasn’t breathing as hard, but I walked further into the room, ducking from a shoe drawing towards her before sitting back on the bed.

Her body inhaled hard just as everything fell to the floor with me catching a few items before they could hit her.

Maggie slowly turned her body around to lay on her back and I could see a slit view of her red eyes peering at me.

“I told you if you ever feed, you need to tell me,” I said, trying to hide my anger.

Her brows came together before she groaned and stretched.

“It’s…not what you think,” she muttered before coughing.

My face cracked, feeling my eyes burn as whatever tough exterior I tried to display as the big brother, failed.

Any sign of weakness on my sister, I wore it like it was my own pain and took it to heart.

I should have been there. I haven’t even heard from Birdie and…

FUCK HER. My family is the only thing that matters to me at this point, and I never thought I would say that in my life but when I saw my sister, I saw life, love, and happiness.

Everything I wanted, she was it and I should have done more to protect that.

“Why is your boyfriend trying to kill you?” I asked. I saw a smile crack as I stared adoringly at her.

“Call it a twisted fate,” she muttered.

“Are y'all good?”

Maggie paused for a moment.

“I dunno…”

“Do you remember anything?” I asked, wondering if this was going to be a repeat of the white church. She turned to her side, getting comfortable against the pillow and sighed. Her low gaze blinked once as she stared at the wall before her.

“I remember…everything.”
