Cinnamon Rolls #6

Eventually, I said, “Let’s just shower and go to school early. I don’t want to run into anyone, or have Lisa jump in my truck for a ride this morning. I kind of hope I can avoid her all day.” Keith laughed, “Alright. Let’s go.”

We ran back to the house and met downstairs fifteen minutes later. May was resting with her head on the table. She groaned, “I hate you, Keaton.” I laughed, “You didn’t have to come with us this early.” May stuck her tongue out at me and held out breakfast burritos from her mom for us both.

We both grabbed them and piled into my truck. We got to school and went to see the basketball coach. He smiled at me and Keith, “Glad you boys are back.” He was also a Werewolf in our pack. We talked to him about the season when Channing started to perk up.

I asked, “Do you guys’ smell that?” Our coach laughed, “Yeah, I can’t really tell the principal I should have an office outside the guy’s locker room because I’m too sensitive to the stench that comes with pads, equipment, clothes, and quite possibly dead animals left in there.”

I frowned, because that wasn’t what I was talking about. It didn’t smell bad at all. I could smell cinnamon rolls. I urged, “Come on Keith, let’s go. I think the cafeteria is selling cinnamon rolls for breakfast. They smell amazing.”

Keith frowned, “Huh? I don’t smell cinnamon rolls.” I tugged him out of his seat saying, “Well, I want one.” Keith shrugged, “May has coffee for us in the gym.” I didn’t care about coffee. Channing agreed, “No to coffee. That cinnamon roll is our aim.”

My wolf was practically doing backflips in my head. May said, “Here’s your….” I blew past her ignoring the coffee. I heard Keith say, “Stay here. I’ll go figure that out.” May agreed, “Ok. That was weird though, right?”

I didn’t care what they thought. Channing agreed, “Not even slightly. Can’t you run faster?

” I snorted at my wolf and burst out the gym doors.

The cinnamon roll smell was leading away from the cafeteria, which was weird, but I didn’t care.

My mouth was actually watering. I ran through the halls like a man possessed.

Keith yelled, “Keaton, wait up!” I still didn’t stop. Channing warned, “I won’t let you stop.” I wasn’t planning on stopping until I got to the scent. I rounded the corner and saw the most beautiful girl in the world at her locker.

Her eyes snapped to mine. I growled, “MINE!” Channing howled in my head, “MATE!” The girl was staring at me with a look of wonder. I was trying to remember who she was, but I swore I’d never seen this girl before in my life.

Was she a transfer student? God, please be a transfer student or I’d be the world’s biggest ass for not knowing who this girl was if I’d been going to school with for almost four years. Channing said, “I would remember her. She’s new.” Thank god.

I definitely would’ve noticed her full pouty lips and beautiful eyes. I was staring at her lips, unable to look away. They were begging to be kissed. Channing agreed, “They are. Move over to her and kiss them.”

Keith whispered, “No way.” His voice made my mate stop staring at me. I growled at my brother who raised his eyebrow. The girl finally spoke, “The lady at the front office told me this was my locker. The combination worked too so, I’m not sure how it could be your locker as well.”

I asked, “Wait, what?” She didn’t know what I was talking about? This girl wasn’t human. Channing confirmed, “Definitely not human.” My mate replied, “You said mine, but this locker is the one the lady at the front told me is mine.”

I linked Keith, “But she’s not human.” Keith replied, “I don’t think she knows that.” Maybe she did and she was playing coy. Channing said, “I would like that, but I’m not getting that sense.” Neither was I really but hope springs eternal and all.

I walked over to my mate causing her breath to hitch. I admitted, “I didn’t mean the locker.” She asked, “Then what on earth could you have possibly meant?” I studied her face seeing pure confusion and no hint of any type of knowledge she was mine.

I asked, “Do you really not know?” She frowned, “No.” I asked, “What are you?” She frowned, “A transfer student and you are?” I stuck my hand out, “Keaton Daniels.” She said, “Nice to meet you, Key. I’m Od….” She cut herself off then stammered, “Katie.”

Keith commented, “OdKatie is a strange name.” I glared at him. My mate laughed nervously saying, “It’s just Katie. Karlton. I mean my last name is Karlton.” She took my hand then gasped as the tingles lit through us both.

Everyone talked about feeling that, but their descriptions were inadequate. It felt incredible. Channing purred, “Mate is adorable.” I knew that. Katie jumped back saying, “Gosh, I guess we got zapped.” Keith laughed.

I linked him, “Not a single word to anyone.” Keith zipped his lips. I asked my mate, “Can I see your schedule?” Katie frowned. Channing demanded, “Say more words. Mate thinks we are weird now because you didn’t say why!”

I explained to Katie, “I can show you around the school if I know where you’re heading.” My mate smiled saying, “That’s very kind of you but my friend Immy said she’d show me around. Thanks for the offer though, Key.”

Keith interjected, “His name is Keaton.” Channing muttered, “I’m telling Stone our mate can call us whatever she wants.” Agreed. Katie smiled. I don’t think she meant for it to be seductive, but it was. I was so hard it was painful.

My mate winked, “I’m going to call him Key.” I asked solely to keep the conversation going, “Why is that?” Katie laughed, “You wouldn’t believe me if I told you.” Keith muttered, “He definitely would.” I laughed, “Try me.” Channing purred happily in my head.

Katie’s phone buzzed. She took it out and smiled before announcing, “Immy’s here. So, I guess I’ll see you after school at driving lessons, Key.” She turned to my brother, “I’m so sorry, I didn’t get your name.”

Keith said, “That’s understandable. I’m Keith Daniels. Key here is my twin.” I linked him, “You cannot call me Key.” Keith gasped in mock shock, “But OdKatie did.” I huffed, “You know full well my mate can call me whatever she wants.” Keith smirked at me.

Katie nodded to him, but her gaze lingered on me. Her eyes traveled down my entire body. Channing purred, “Mate is checking us out.” Her arousal filled the air too, which made me stand taller. Katie’s gaze came back up to my eyes and blushed bright red. My mate squeaked and took off.

I didn’t seem to be in control of my feet at this moment because they simply followed her. Channing demanded, “At least hide. Don’t look like a stalker when mate doesn’t understand our bond.” It wasn’t hard to hide so that was doable. I was fast and no one was here.

Keith was silently by my side. We saw Ted, Matt, and Immy waiting for Katie at the front of the school. Matt’s eyebrows furrowed when he asked my mate, “Do I know you?” Katie shook her head, “Nope.” Matt frowned, “Something about you looks familiar.”

Immy groaned, “Dad, don’t be weird. This is Katie, my new friend.” Ted laughed, “Hello Katie, we’ve heard so much about you. I hope to see you around. Immy has nothing but good things to say about you. Along with Lee.”

Ted bumped Matt who looked deep in thought. Matt agreed, “I hope to see you around too. Immy has been talking a lot about you.” Katie smiled, “Thank you! I already found my locker. It’s possible that it might be someone else’s though, so I might need to get it changed.”

Channing huffed in my head. Immy asked, “Did the code open it?” Katie answered, “Yeah.” Immy declared, “Then it’s yours. Bye Dads!” They both waved at her. Matt was staring in our direction, but he couldn’t see us.

Channing linked, “Balto can smell us though.” I’m sure he could, but Matt didn’t link us even though he looked suspicious as hell. Ted grabbed Matt and they walked out of the school hand in hand, but Matt’s eyes didn’t leave where we were until they were out of sight.

Immy held her hands out to my mate saying, “Gimme your schedule!” Katie laughed and handed it to her.

I watched my mate’s every move. I linked Keith, “She’s perfect.

” Keith agreed, “She is pretty. May is perfect to me though. For you though, OdKatie does seem to be perfect.” Yeah, yeah.

When May turned eighteen that would be all settled.

Immy squealed, “We have several classes together! You have some with Keaton and Keith tomorrow on your B days. Gosh, you’re like really smart, aren’t you? They are seniors and you have classes with them. Honors classes. You nerd! I love it!”

Katie told Immy, “I actually met them.” Immy groaned, “Keaton would ruin the meet cute I had all planned out!” Channing purred, “We are spending time with mate.” That we were.

I linked Immy, “What time are driving lessons?” Immy replied, “Good morning, spoilsport. The lesson is thirty minutes after school.”

Immy paused then asked, “You like Katie, don’t you? She’s hot!” I replied, “She’s beautiful.” Immy squealed out loud. Katie asked, “What was that for?” Immy said, “I’m the best matchmaker of all time. Who needs Soul Searcher’s? Not this area.”

Katie laughed, “Soul Searchers? You really take this whole reading people’s auras seriously.

” Immy agreed emphatically, “I really do. It’s serious business, and I am never wrong about good people.

In all seriousness though, I love the Soul Searcher.

What can you do with people who want things to be a secret though? Enter me. I’m the aura matcher.”

Immy linked me, “I’m never wrong. Lisa’s aura is awful, but Katie’s is bright and perfect.” My mate was perfect. Immy asked Katie, “So, what did you think of them?” I leaned forward. Katie blushed, “Umm.” Then she looked around.

Immy groaned, “Don’t bother looking around. You wanted to get here so early practically no one is here. Except my siblings because I wanted to be here for your first day, and apparently Keith and Keaton.” Katie blushed saying, “Key is really hot.” Channing purred.
