I shifted and took off for the border where Justin was waiting. I shifted back and grabbed some shorts. I glared at him, “I hate you.” Justin shot back, “I don’t really like you either.” I snorted, “Does Isla smell good to you?”
Justine looked confused but answered, “Lisa always tells me Isla borrows her clothes. Sisters do that kind of thing.” I told him, “Isla says it’s the other way around. Considering Lisa is a pathological liar, I’m going with believing Isla. You’re hurting Isla, and you need to stop.”
Justin shouted, “I’d never hurt Isla!” I asked, “So, you didn’t tell her you were done with Lisa, start hanging out with Isla, to then flaunt it to the pack you and Lisa were together?
” Justin looked away whispering, “That wasn’t supposed to hurt Isla.
Our families constantly talked about Lisa and I being mates.
She smells so good, but so does Isla. You know how it is with Lisa’s tears. I can’t take it.”
I asked, “What about Isla’s tears?” Justin’s hand went to his chest as he growled, “She’s never cried!” I said, “Isla’s sobbing right now. You know Lisa’s not your mate, but Isla could be. I’d shape up before you get rejected, but that’s just me.” I turned around to leave.
Justin whispered, “Could you command me?” I whirled around asking, “What?” Justin said, “It’s just Lisa’s tears. I just can’t do anything but give her what she wants. She’s got me doing things, Keaton, things I don’t want to do. Just command me to stay away from her. Please!”
I reminded the guy, “I’m not the Alpha yet, I can’t command you. I can ask Emmett to do it or you can. He might not believe the request is yours if it’s coming from me.” Justin said, “Your whole family hates me.”
Before I could respond a shriek that could only come from Lisa sounded throughout our territory. I groaned while Channing snickered. I asked, “What’s going on?” Channing admitted, “I couldn’t possibly ruin this for you.” Justin and I both shifted and ran back to the pack grounds.
We found Lisa with two arrows sticking out of her ass. Channing laughed in wolf form, boisterously. Lisa screamed, “SHUT UP, CHANNING! I WANT TO TALK TO KEATON! NOW!” Channing snarled at her. My wolf said, “I’m not shifting back for several minutes just for that.” I agreed, “Go for it.”
The whole pack stared at us, but I didn’t care.
Eventually, when I felt like it I shifted back.
I crossed my arms asking, “What?” Lisa yelled, “Put some damn pants on!” I frowned because nudity was normal to us.
Not a lot of the pack had seen me without pants because Lisa didn’t want them to see me.
My ex told me I was small and that was embarrassing for an Alpha wolf. I heard several people whispering. Keith threw me some shorts and I put them on. Lisa demanded, “You need to go tell the Hood they owe me. One of their people shot me!”
I said, “Their people are mine too, Lisa.” My ex cried, “Exactly! Your family runs the Shroud!” That had been outed years ago, but no one knew our monikers. We still didn’t know how it leaked Scott’s ran the Shroud.
Lisa screamed, “I have arrows in my ass! Someone needs to pay.” I wasn’t shocked when mom flashed up in her BA gear. Not everyone in the pack knew BA was my mother. Lisa was one of those people who had no idea who was behind the mask.
Mom said, “Don’t disrespect our people, Lisa Kipner. Next time, I’ll go for the kill.” Lisa’s mom asked, “Were two arrows necessary?” Grandpa Frank coughed, “Yes.” Mom answered, “I only shot one.” Then she flashed away. Oh shit.
I linked, “Allison Haley Daniels!” My little sister replied, “Keaton Frank Daniels.” I told her, “You don’t shoot arrows at pack members.” Allison retorted, “Mom shot first.” I barely managed not to laugh while dad sighed.
Our pack doctor came out with a gurney and put Lisa on it. Lisa linked me, “You’ll pay for this.” I replied, “Threatening an Alpha is not really the thing you want to do right now.” Keith looked between us both. Emmett sighed and followed them into the hospital.
I went back into the house not caring that my ex was in the hospital. Dad grabbed my shoulder before I made it to the stairs asking, “Can we talk, Keaton?” I nodded, “Sure.” I wanted to talk to him anyway. I linked Clara, “Did you get the information on the roller rink?”
My future Beta replied, “Of course I did.” She walked into the house, handed me the folder, winked and left. I opened it pleased to find it would be easy enough to buy. I looked up when my dad handed me a whiskey.
He said, “I know you.” I laughed, “I’d hope so, old man.” Dad gave me a look, “You can tell me anything, you know that.” I nodded and decided to change the subject. I told him, “I want to buy the old roller skating rink and restore it. Would you be my backer?”
Dad stared at me for several moments before he sat back in his chair and stared at his drink. Eventually answering, “Of course I will. I’ll have someone purchase it tomorrow and get contractors going.” I smiled, “Thanks, dad.”
My old man said, “Answer one question in return.” I told him, “Maybe.” Channing snorted, “Bolt is pleading with me to tell him Mate is ours.” Well, I knew my wolf was on the same page with me about our mate.
Dad laughed, “Why do you want to buy it?” I decided to tell him, “Because Katie never got to go roller skating. She moved around a lot, and her mom is never around. Katie got a job the second she was old enough to pay for things around her apartment and for food. She didn’t get to have fun and be a kid.
I have the money, so I want to buy it and take her roller skating. ”
Dad asked, “Why would Katie need to pay for things around her apartment? She’s only sixteen.
” Channing growled, “Because mate’s mother wants us to kill her.
” I tried to keep the anger out of my voice, “She had to pay for utilities in her apartment. I don’t know why really.
Her mom didn’t cover them while she was off with her boyfriends. Wait, how do you know how old she is?”
Dad shrugged, “I pulled her application from the book shop. Plus, she is Immy’s friend which means Matt is aware of how old she is.” I asked, “Why would you pull her application?” Dad raised an eyebrow at me, “I’m not the only one who did that, just so you know. When do we get to meet Katie?”
I said, “She and I just started talking, dad.” Channing huffed, “That’s offensive.
She’s our mate.” Dad laughed, “You reek of this girl, son. I’d say you’re more than talking.
” I said, “It’s what the humans call this stage since I haven’t asked her to my girlfriend yet.
Our first date is Wednesday so then I’ll be dating her. ”
Dad snorted, “Ok Keaton, have it your way.” I shot back, “I have no idea what that means, old man.” Allison flashed by us.
Dad yelled, “Allison Haley Daniels!” My little sister yelled what she’d said to me, “Mom shot first! Plus, Lisa sucks! You’re just jealous that we shot her and you didn’t get to! No one even saw me!”
Allison paused then added, “TJ said he’d have killed Lisa if she did half the things I tell him she does to Keaton to any of his siblings.

” I busted up laughing. Dad groaned, “Punishing your little sister is a useless task because she makes such good points. Her mother did shoot Lisa first. Lisa didn’t know it was Allison as well, only we do. ”
Emmett stormed into the house alone which told me Alexandria must still be with Isla. Dad asked, “How did it go?” Emmett glared at him, “Lisa demanded an apology from the Axe himself since I said I wouldn’t be calling Joe.”
I bit my lip knowing that was funny since Joe was the Axe, but Lisa didn’t know that. Our oldest cousin, Joe, had taken over the Shroud. Emmett asked, “Care to guess what he said?” I offered, “Eat shit?” They both looked at me.
I shrugged, “What? Joe probably did say that.” Emmett said, “More or less. Now Lisa has demanded I go to war against our own damn family. I hate being her Alpha, I really do. She’s going to give me heart palpitations.” I snorted, “This is ridiculous.”
I stormed out of the house. Emmett yelled, “Keaton, where are you going? Where is he going?” That had to be directed at our dad. Dad replied, “Let’s just roll with this.” I flashed to the hospital. I didn’t even have to ask where my ex was, I could hear her.
Channing was just below the surface snarling with anger. I heard Lisa telling some harassed medical worker she would be the Luna one day and they’d all pay. Channing roared in anger, quieting the entire hospital immediately.
I stalked into Lisa’s room and slammed the door so hard the painting frame on the wall fell off. I looked at my ex’s parents ordering, “Get out. NOW!” Lisa’s dad frowned but didn’t leave, but her mom did. I glared at him. He didn’t look overly happy, but he said, “She’s my pup.”
I told him, “And she’s not dying, not yet.
You have to know she’s certainly trending in that direction though.
” Lisa startled, “Keaton.” I demanded, “SHUT THE ACTUAL FUCK UP!” She started crying.
I yelled, “ENOUGH!” a bit of an Alpha command came out which shouldn’t have been possible without the ceremony.
Lisa stopped talking and crying instantly.
I told her, “Listen to me very carefully, you will never be the Luna of this pack. We are not mates, and I won’t take you as a chosen mate. Stop threatening the pack with that, but particularly my family. Do not threaten my siblings with me.”
“Channing is ready to RIP your throat out and I’m not about to stop him. I don’t think I can really. I am running out of good will for you here, Lisa. You don’t get to make demands of Emmett. You were attacked by Hood members because of the disrespect you showed to me in public.”
