True Feelings #2
Carter linked, “I thought you loved me and Colin.” I snorted, “You both are my brothers, so I do love you.” Carter grumbled, “Allison and Arden got to meet Katie AND paint murals in her apartment. I’m feeling left out.” I chuckled, “I love you guys and you know it.” Carter huffed down the link.
I took Tatum out for a walk again. I asked, “Do you know what Odette is?” The dog happily yipped. I asked, “Can you tell me?” Tatum looked at me like I was insane. Channing linked me, “I’m to remind you, dogs can’t talk.”
I countered, “She could tell you.” Channing said, “Tatum trusts us, but she thinks Odette’s family should be the ones to tell her.” Great. Now I had to convince a dog, that was clearly more like a Supernatural non shifting dog, to tell me what my mate was. Perfect. That was just peachy.
I asked, “Are you something that everyone that is like Odette gets? Like, do they all get dogs?” Tatum huffed. Channing told me, “Not everyone gets one, and the animal depends on the person.” That didn't help me at all. What Supernatural’s got a pet protector?
I asked, “Shouldn’t you be like a pitbull? Or a Mastiff? Something large and intimidating.” Tatum yipped at me. What? I wouldn’t mind if Odette’s Supernatural protector was a giant intimidating dog. Channing snorted, “You have upset the not dog.” Great. It had a nickname.
When we got back, I saw Allison and Arden were done painting. I wasn’t surprised they looked fantastic. Ken linked me, “Kincade is being sent to get your siblings. Your dad thought you might want to stay longer.” I replied, “I do.”
Ken added, “By the way, your mom is SALTY that she wasn’t there today when so many people saw Katie in person.
” I had been warned about that at the time so it didn’t shock me.
Dad linked me, “I need to talk to you tonight.” I answered, “Alright.” Dad added, “The roller skating rink is ready. We can meet there and view the inside.” That was perfect.
I could show Odette after school tomorrow.
Kincade showed up. The man promptly linked me after she introduced herself, “OdKatie is an odd name, Keaton.” I shrugged. Kincade pressed, “You do know that tells me her name isn’t Katie, right?” I again gave a noncommittal shrug.
Kincade sighed, “And now I know that you know her name isn’t Katie and you probably know the real name.
What IS IT with the Daniels boys and their complicated mate situations?
” I asked, “What do you mean?” Kincade just shook his head.
Who had a complicated situation? Channing answered, “No one.” Someone clearly had.
When they left, I was trying to get Odette in the mood by talking about our sexy time last night. It surprised me when she pushed that aside. My mate clearly didn’t want to talk about it. I nearly snorted when she told me her family was in the mob.
Channing reasoned, “Um her dad’s side could be.” Crap. I clarified. Nope. It was her mom’s side. I thought about it, to human’s that structure could make sense. So, her family was in charge of something like mine was.
Odette tried to give me an out again on being with her. I sighed, wanting to punch her brother that left her behind right along with her mom. I was definitely clocking the woman so hard she’d be unconscious for a day or two. I wasn’t leaving Odette ever, she was mine.
I wanted her mom’s family’s contact information. We could help each other out. If they stopped answering her emails I’d find them, and they would be meeting the Silver Blade. My mate was clearly happy they were talking to her. I barely convinced myself to leave.
I pulled into the roller skating rink and found my dad waiting against his SUV. I jumped out and greeted, “Hey, old man.” Dad snorted, “Don’t you hey old me. Do you have ANY idea how annoyed your mom is?” I shrugged, “You asked me to pick up Allison and Arden. So, I did.”
Dad laughed, “With your girlfriend. That your Uncle Cameron, Uncle Ollie, and Aunt Regan saw. Your grandma met her at the bookstore apparently. I say all that, so you understand that your mom wants to meet Katie.” I asked, “Don’t you?” Dad answered, “Of course.”
We walked inside and I surveyed everything. I smiled, “This looks great.” Channing purred, “Mate will love this, Keaton.” I was certain Odette would love it. Dad said, “I agree. Allison and Arden’s school already has skate nights set up. We are booked up for a while. It was a great business idea.”
I didn’t really care about that, I simply wanted Odette to have this. We walked around and made sure everything looked good. I told him, “Keith, May, Katie, and I will be here after school. We can report any issues.”
Dad nodded, “That’s not a problem.” Then handed me the keys. I hugged him and whispered, “Thanks for getting this done so fast.” Dad seemed surprised but hugged me back, “I’ll do anything for you and your siblings.” I knew that.
We drove back home. I got out and walked inside where I found my mom waiting. She had a steely glare and her arms were crossed. Dad snorted while Aunt Regan sat smirking into her drink. Uncle Ollie linked me, “Run, kid.”
I retorted, “How is it you saw my girlfriend, but didn’t link me about it?
” Uncle Ollie smirked, “I was lying in wait. I knew you’d bring you girlfriend to pick your siblings up.
Allison told me she had mentioned to you she wanted to meet Katie.
She’s a looker, your woman.” I growled at him which had my uncle raising an eyebrow back at me.
Mom asked, “So, when will Katie come over to meet us?” I frowned, “I don’t know.” Mom frowned, “But you brought her to the pack grounds.” I pointed out, “Katie didn’t go inside anywhere. Or meet anyone besides Allison and Arden. Most people just stared at her, which she absolutely noticed.”
Grandpa Frank busted up laughing. I smiled, greeting, “Hey, Grandpa Frank.” Great Uncle Jordan offered, “She is pretty.” I asked, “How did you see Katie?” Did he set up a camera? Uncle Jordan smiled, “I had a meeting here, so I saw her as you were leaving.”
Mom pouted, “Oh come on! Why does everyone get to see her in person except Chase and I?!” I argued, “It’s not everyone. Grandpa Frank hasn’t met or seen her either.” Grandpa chimed in, “That’s true, it’s always me that’s in the group that doesn’t get introductions.” What?
Grandpa swirling his drink saying, “I’m just not sticking my head up my ass about this one. No siree. Frank is just sitting back, drinking his whiskey while laughing at each and every one of you.” I asked, “What?”
Grandpa winked at me before continuing, “In fact, Keaton my boy, have a glass of whiskey on me.” He practically shoved a glass at me. I replied extremely confused, “Ok.” Grandpa said, “You are giving me my justice, the karma that I have been waiting for. I have been oh so good whilst waiting.”
I told him, “I have no idea what you’re talking about.” Channing admitted, “Me either and Ratchet isn’t sharing.” Mom huffed, “None of that was my fault! I told you things, Frank! We had our own secrets from Chase. I told you things, when he didn’t.”
Grandpa chuckled, “I already knew at that point.” Mom threw her hands up, “That still wasn’t my fault! UGH! This is just absurd. This whole thing is ridiculous.” Before anyone could reply someone knocked on the door.
Dad opened it and Aunt Susie and Uncle Sebastian burst inside.
Aunt Susie squealed, “I heard a rumor.” I snorted knowing exactly what the rumor was.
She continued, “That my nephew brought a beautiful girl to the pack. I also heard a certain someone, who I loathe, is very upset about it. That last detail made my whole day.”
I asked, “Who’s mad?” Everyone looked at me funny. I asked, “What?” Uncle Ollie answered, “Uhh it’s Lisa that’s mad and mad is not the right word. Foaming at the mouth, might be better.” I frowned, “The girl with the high pitched voice that I saved from a rogue attack? Why would she be mad?”
Keith flashed into the room with May while everyone else looked at me like I had two heads. Great Uncle Jordan declared, “I love being in the right room at the right time. What just happened?” I asked again, “What?”
Keith said, “Uhh that’s just an interesting way to describe Lisa.” I asked, “How would you describe her then?” Emmett came into the room then said, “I’d personally call her a pain in my ass. YOU might call Lisa your ex-girlfriend.” I shrugged, “Meh.”
Mom shrieked, “MEH?! Did he just say meh?!” I said, “Let’s be honest, Lisa’s kind of annoying. I’m not sure why I hung around her so much.” Channing linked, “Uhhh Keaton are you ok?” My wolf began playing memories of me and Lisa together.
Wow. Lisa and I hung out more than I thought we did. Damn. She really was a bitch. Why did I put up with that? I was right earlier; the sex was nowhere near worth all that bullshit. Now Channing was stunned.
Keith asked, “Is sex with Katie that good, little brother? It’s so good you forgot Lisa altogether? Because I’ll tell you now, I’m here for that.” May elbowed him in the guts. My twin asked, “What? I am. Keaton’s acting like he didn’t date Lisa for five years.”
I shrugged, “Channing reminding me of some stuff. The bottom line is Lisa’s a bitch.
I have no idea why we dated so long. Literally everything he reminded me of was a reason to break up.
There was nothing in that relationship to hang onto really.
Or worth putting up with her. Oh well, I’ve moved on now. ”
Emmett said, “Ok, I need to meet this girl. What the HELL just happened?” Great Uncle Jordan said, “I already asked that.” I asked for what felt like the millionth time, “What?!” Alexandria gently said, “Keaton, you’ve gotten in multiple fights with family over Lisa.
You also spent a lot of time with her, but you’re acting like you don’t remember that.
Or the fact that she’s your ex-girlfriend. ”
