Was That Hard to Say? #6
Then it hit me, it was my bond with Odette. I could feel her feelings a little bit. Was it a distance thing? Was it the glowing lips thing? It had to be. I’d never felt my mate’s feelings before. I liked it though. I couldn’t wait until I sank my teeth into her neck, claiming her as mine.
My Uncle cleared his throat. I turned back to him, and he inclined his head towards my pants. I realized I’d gotten hard as a rock thinking about marking Odette. I shifted in my seat then opened my mouth several times.
It felt like the answer my uncle was demanding kept getting caught in my throat. I cleared my throat and tried again. Eventually I gritted out, “She’s my mate.” Uncle Heath sighed, “Oh, thank god. Seriously kid, was that so hard? Did it hurt to say? Jesus Christ.”
I snorted, “It was actually a little hard to say, I don’t know why though.
” Uncle Heath frowned. I asked, “You won’t tell my parents though, right?
” Uncle Heath stared at me before saying, “Of course not. They know though. You do understand that, right? Everyone knows. By that I mean literally everyone.”
I snorted, “They think they know.” Uncle Heath started laughing, “Oh my god. You’re your father’s spitting image.
Now, let’s discuss this letter to Luke Merrick.
” My Uncle slapped down a picture of the guy.
Channing said, “We did tell Luke letting us know his name was a mistake.” Yes, we did and now we have his picture.
I snorted, “He looks evil.” Uncle Heath agreed, “I actually agree, he really does.” I looked at the copy of his license. I stood, “This says he’s twenty-five years old. I’m pretty sure Odette thinks he’s younger.”
Uncle Heath shrugged, “We know ages lie on licenses. People are also quite capable of lying. This Luke character is a Supernatural. His age won’t matter to him, but it would to your mate’s human sensibilities, that they want her to have.”
I snarled, “We don’t lie to other Supernatural’s about our age to bed them.” Uncle Heath agreed, “Yes, but we are not bad people who keep one of our own out in the cold. You threatened him.” I said, “Yes but technically speaking, I don’t know if he got it.”
Uncle Heath put down a picture of a hooded figure taking the note.
I asked, “How did you get all this?” Uncle Heath frowned, “It was left for me at my drop box with a note. I thought I was being followed, but I shook that off. I still circled the area and when I came back this was all sitting there waiting for me.” He held it out to me, so I read it.
Heath Scott,
You are not an easy many to follow. Maybe one day I’ll explain how I did it, but it involves magic. The creepy old guy received Keaton’s message. I can’t get a lock on that creepy fucker, but I am trying. I gotta say, I like the letter your nephew wrote.
To be honest, I already liked Keaton but now he has my respect. Let’s all keep the girl safe.
Her Rabies Wolf
P.S. I know you’ll show Keaton, and if he could do me a slight solid getting her to stop calling me a rabies wolf that would be great. My wolf is not a fan of the nickname.
I snarled, “HER RABIES WOLF?! He’s following her?
!” Channing forced a shift and growled. Uncle Heath calmly said, “You knew that’s what she called that wolf whose name I heard is Jag.
Let’s shift back.” Channing grumbled, “I AM HER WOLF, KEATON!” I agreed, “Definitely. It’s absolutely NOT Jag.
” Channing grumbled but let me shift back.
Uncle Heath handed me shorts. I sat down once I had them on. Uncle Heath said, “Now, I really need a good reason not to bring your family into this note.” I bartered, “We can keep it between you, me, and Joe. You already knew I did those things I referenced. I’m certain Joe does too. Right?”
Uncle Heath stared at me for several moments before he answered, “Yes, we did. I think your dad knows quite a bit as does Eric.” I snorted, “Of course he does.” Uncle Heath admitted, “For a while I couldn’t figure out why you weren’t telling us. Then it became clear, that horrid Lisa girl was why.”
Uncle Heath sighed, “Your ex was always tearing you down and pulling you away from us. You thought we would think you couldn’t do it or something.
I’m not positive if Emmett knows. I think he does, and I think it’s why he doesn’t understand why you doubt yourself sometimes.
Do you even understand how impressive and reckless some of that was? ”
I sighed, “It wasn’t reckless at all. I took calculated risks.
I felt useless and weak even with knowing I did all those things without anyone knowing.
Rather at the time I thought no one knew.
It does make sense why our family doesn’t understand why I doubted myself when I was capable of that. ” My uncle tilted his head.
I looked through the information my uncle got.
I growled, “I was right, Luke’s hiding.” Uncle Heath sighed, “Yes, and unfortunately he’s doing it well.
” I asked, “Where do we have him last at?” Uncle Heath answered, “Officially, he was last in Maine, but I’ve got some intel he might have been in New Mexico.
That was second hand information. I’m having Isaiah see if he can’t figure out more in his spare time. ”
I asked, “Who said Luke was down there?” Uncle Heath replied, “There’s a pack down there that put out the word they were looking for someone who matched his description.
I don’t know why or what pack yet. Isaiah is looking into it.
” In his spare time, which meant it would take a while before we had the information. I nodded.
Uncle Heath said, “I think you need to tell your family….” Interrupted, “No!” I was surprised by my vehemence and so was he. My Uncle asked, “Why?” I explained, “I can’t have them dislike Odette, I just can’t.”
I added, “I feel like I just got them back, and I would choose Odette if it came down to it. I can’t have them treat her how they treated Lisa. I’m still working out all the issues Lisa caused with the family. I haven’t even scratched the surface of them.”
“I hurt a lot of people. Luke is claiming to have caused my accident. Emmett has already jumped to the worst case with Odette, and I can’t have them blame her or tell me to stay away. She was already blaming herself. I can’t do this again.”
Uncle Heath softly said, “Emmett didn’t jump to the worst case scenario.
He was being your big brother. You know, your dad and I didn’t get along when we met.
” I startled, “You didn’t?” Uncle Heath laughed, “No, we didn’t.
You’re old enough to know the full story from my end so I’ll highlight it for you. Sophia was my second chance string.”
I interrupted, “As in Alpha Sophia Thunders that is married to Teke? That Sophia?” Channing said, “That sounds like a terrible pairing.” It did.
Uncle Heath nodded. I whistled, “Ok. So, what was wrong?” Uncle Heath carefully said, “There were things done by your dad so Sophia could take over her pack.”
I asked, “Huh?” Uncle Heath said, “That will come out shortly, I’m sure. I didn’t like him because of those actions. Sophia and I were never anything because I stayed in the shadows and honestly, we were probably always destined to be friends.”
“Everything worked out exactly how it was supposed to. Your Aunt Allie is my everything, and Teke is Sophia’s. At first, your dad and I only interacted to protect your mom. When we met the other side of your mom and my family was when we actually bonded.”
“It was the first time we both admitted we liked the other. I was jealous of the moves your dad was making for Lexi, but felt Sophia didn’t do the same for me. It wasn’t fair of me really. Sophia didn’t know I knew she was my string.”
“We really weren’t a match. I don’t know what our goddesses were thinking honestly. My point is that I was always going to see Chase because your mom wanted him in her life. I love your mom, which you know.”
