Creepy Song #2
I pointed out, “I didn’t exactly lie. Those people were threats, but most weren’t serious yet.
They were just trending in a direction I didn’t like.
You’re my big brother, and Alexandria is my sister in law.
The threats against mom and Allison make me see red.
Even the ones against dad, grandma, and grandpa.
Aunt Susie too. Ok, all our siblings. I’m a bit testy when it comes to that. ”
I didn’t actually need to act with most of the ones on Aunt Susie. Red Run kept pretty on top of them, but some I just didn’t care for. I knew Uncle Sebastian was on top of the threats, but mom always said a helping hand was nice.
Emmett said, “Keaton, I understand that inclination, I’m just telling you I want a heads up.” I asked, “Does dad know too?” Emmett snorted, “I’m sure he does. The old man knows a lot of things.” Malachi offered, “My dad knows, so yours does.” Great. Another person to talk to.
Emmett asked, “Will you just tell me not Katie’s actual name? I think we both know for some reason you aren’t going to tell me what she is to you. Just give me her real name.” I frowned, “That’s her deal. I don’t want to betray her confidence.”
Emmett replied, “Not Katie has been manipulated into not giving her name, Keaton. I will never hurt her. Hell, Malachi and I won’t even tell anyone else. Just tell us if her name is Odette. I want you to confide in me again, and I want my Beta to stop researching names that start with Od.”
“Malachi’s driving me insane. He’s even started coming up with strange combination names that aren’t names. Plus, you’ve said Not Katie has a job history. Ergo, she has had other names, but I’ll just bet she never told anyone them like she’s trying to tell us. Not Katie wants us to know her name.”
Channing agreed, “Mate does since they are her family.” I snorted, “Fine. Her name is Odette.” Malachi clapped, “I KNEW IT!” Emmett smiled and hugged me. My big brother seemed really happy I’d told him.
Malachi cleared his throat, “Rya is waiting for us.” I asked, “Why?” Emmett answered, “Her Witch friends dropped in on your girlfriend.” The hope on his face that I would tell him actually hurt. I said, “She’s my….” A shriek cut me off.
Emmett grumbled, “I hate your ex so much.” I asked, “What’s wrong with Lisa?
” My ex was at the edge of some bubble she didn’t seem to be able to get past. Malachi answered, “I had Annie make sure this area couldn’t be heard so your time with Emmett couldn’t be disturbed.
I’d guess your ex is pissed she can’t get over here. ”
I asked, “Can’t we just ignore her?” Malachi laughed but didn’t agree.
We walked over to where my ex was and stepped out of the area.
Lisa immediately started on her tirade, “This is just so irresponsible! The Beta and Alpha were unavailable to the pack. Don’t you understand what I’m saying now Keaton? ”
Channing snarled at her. Emmett started to speak, but I didn’t let him. I snarked at Lisa, “No, I don’t understand what you’re saying. Colton and his Beta are in fact available to the pack. Come to think of it, I don’t understand a lot of things.”
“All of a sudden, our time together makes no sense. You and I have nothing in common. My family maintains I argued about you with them a lot, and I just don’t see why. You clearly don’t like me. I can’t say I’m fond of you.”
I continued, “Which makes me wonder why we were together so long. You’re a bitch, and I’m an idiot for staying with you. You cheated on me. Repeatedly. You did nothing but tear me down and kept me from reaching my full potential.”
“I have nothing to say to you. You lied to me and continue to do so. I’m done.
I’m so past done it’s crazy. I’m counting down the days until Keith banishes you when we become Alpha’s.
I don’t think anyone but May could talk him out of it.
It’s going to be good. Now, if you’ll excuse us, we have a conversation to get to. ”
Malachi and Emmett choked a little, but both looked happy. I shifted and Channing snarled at Lisa who ran away screeching. Jesus that was an octave. I ran to the house and walked inside. Rya was inside with a group of her friends talking quietly.
Mom stood in the room, looking rather upset. I asked, “Mom, what’s wrong?” Dad warned down the link, “That was not a wise question, son.” Mom snorted, “I just don’t know what could be wrong. Oh wait, I know all these people have met your girlfriend, but I haven’t.”
Mom waved, “I don’t even know these people. I do know they link back to Rya’s on and off boyfriend we all loathe.” Rya gasped. Mom said, “Yeah, we all hate him Rya. Clearly, I should’ve told my son how much I loathed Lisa, so there it is. We hate Giz. He’s horrible and you deserve better.”
Mom turned back to me, “This coven is made up of Rya’s friends and her horrid on/off boyfriend’s coven. HER FRIENDS! Rya even met your girlfriend. So, why can’t I meet her?” I opened my mouth, but no words came.
I said, “You can meet her, mom.” Mom’s eyes narrowed, “Great. When?” I shrugged.
Mom threw her hands up in the air and let out an exasperated huff.
Then flashed into the kitchen and came back with a martini.
Oh boy. She was texting someone which meant, more than likely, mom was going to have a drinking night with Aunt Haley. I’d just bet on that.
I asked, “Did your friends find anything out, Rya?” Rya winced, “Yes.” I admitted, “I don’t recognize them.” Mom grumbled, “Because they live in Kentucky and you avoid all things Giz because we hate him.” That was true. I did hate Rya’s on and off boyfriend.
Mom grumbled, “Out of state friends get to meet your girlfriend, but not me. Nooooo, not me.” I winced. Keith linked, “We should have not Katie over for dinner.” I glared at my twin. Mom put her drink down exclaiming, “Damn it!” Kissed my dad then said, “I’ll be back.” Channing growled in my head.
Mom flashed out. I asked dad, “What happened?” It would be for the Hood. Dad answered, “A check in was missed. Your mom is going to check on someone. She should be back in two hours.” I nodded but worry creeped in.
Mom could handle herself, but she had no idea what she was walking into. Her Moniker was feared for a reason though. The Black Arrow was fierce and respected because my mom was an actual force of nature. Channing grumbled, “We still worry.” Yes, we do.
I asked, “What did your friends find out, Rya?” One woman stood, “I met Katie first. My friends are still there, and I even had a local coven leader I know go meet her. It’s not good.” I growled, “What does that mean?”
The woman put out her hand, “I’m Karissa.” I nodded, “Keaton.” Then shook her hand. Karissa said, “Well, your girlfriend is spelled and bound very tightly. The worst part is the Witch who did it knows that your girlfriend has started to go around her magic. She’s dream walking to her.”
I blinked realizing, “That’s who Katie wants to scare, it’s the Witch.
” Keith linked, “Uhh, what?” Clara clapped, “You’re right!
Not Katie wants a picture of the white wolf because the Witch she’s dream walking to is scared of the white wolf.
Why would a Witch be scared of the white wolf?
Unless….” My Beta trail off and bit her lip.
I asked, “Unless what?” Malachi linked, “Unless the Witch that spelled your girlfriend is the one who suppressed Melanie’s wolf.
I believe her name is Valdoma.” Great. That was just great.
A super powerful Witch, that could suppress a goddess wolf, was talking to my mate in her dreams. Loving this development. Channing growled, “Sarcasm noted.”
Karissa looked between us then back at Rya. She wasn’t getting the information about the white wolf from us though. Karissa shrugged, “Anyway, I called in the local coven leader to go meet Katie then discreetly left because I can’t help her much.”
“I could give her some protections, but the magic placed on her is serious dark magic. The Witch that cast the spell seems to find your girlfriend interesting. Katie’s getting headaches though, and that’s not great.”
I asked, “Why? Does that not mean she’s breaking the magic?” Karissa winced, “Umm, that’s why I called in the local coven leader. I need her to answer those questions.” I frowned, “Ok.” I began to pace because I wanted answers and a call to action. I needed a plan.
Dad said, “Keaton, it will be ok.” Channing said, “Just so you know, I told the wolves I did NOT agree with that sentiment.” An hour later the rest of the coven came into the room. The local coven leader came in with Rya’s on and off Warlock boyfriend.
Giz smiled and walked to Rya. Tyler growled at him. Rya rolled her eyes, “We are friends, Ty.” I was pretty sure they were still fuck buddies at minimum. Why? I had NO idea, because Giz had no redeeming qualities. Channing agreed, “None whatsoever. Let me shift and kill him.” I might.
Giz cleared his throat, “Well, Rya this is quite an interesting situation.” Rya sat down, “How can we help her, Giz?” I linked Tyler, “I feel the need to repeat my age old question when this guy is around. What kind of name is that?” Tyler growled, “It’s still a nickname.”
I asked, “Is there more to why the family loathes him? I’ll acknowledge that I avoid him and am way out of the loop on all things Giz. I’m guessing it’s bad given mom’s comments and the fact you haven’t minded Rya’s other boyfriends.”
Tyler replied, “They actually asked my sister to be her boyfriend.” I said, “Uhhh they were dating or still are.” Tyler snorted, “Giz strings Rya along. She thought they might be on the path for chosen mates, then he cheated again.” Oh, ok.
Well, fuck this guy. Channing scoffed, “We could still go with the shift and kill him plan.” I wasn’t saying no.
