What was going on? There was a bid podium outside where Darwin stood. My eyes narrowed because he was on my shit list too. I was related to him, he knew it, wanted me to be with his son, only to kill me. Darwin was on the list!
Luke was sitting down on a chair. My ex, turned cousin, looked sick and weak. Too bad, so sad. Darwin spoke, “Obviously, you saw my son go down in pain. His Song rejected him and betrayed our cause. The girl remains in the Werewolf pack’s care, but we will get her back. Our goals have not changed.”
Someone shouted, “HOW? The rumor is her father knows about her now!” Darwin said, “Our source in the pack hasn’t responded to us.
That’s just a rumor. Keaton Daniels would have no reason to bring the Conners in.
He can afford to pay the ransom those Harpies wanted.
We heard the man in the background on Delana’s last check in.
They were asking for two million dollars for her return. ”
Someone hissed, “Why would they betray us for two million dollars?! The pack girl that was helping us wanted the girl here and out of her way with Keaton!” Darwin sighed, “That’s the problem with hired guns, they don’t have any loyalty.”
Someone snorted, “Like Crown Prince Luke’s Song didn’t? She manipulated you with her snare, and now she’s out there. Delana knows all our plans. If Crown Prince Luke’s Song gets to King Caspian, she’ll tell him everything.”
Darwin hissed, “We have no reason to believe Delana went to King Caspian. She hasn’t made it home, and none of our spies saw her arrive through the portal door where King Caspian’s home is.
” Someone yelled, “His armies gathered on Scylla, she could’ve gone there!
We have to do something before they attack! Where is Morgana?”
Darwin’s face contorted, “I do not need Morgana. That woman has had no contact with the children that she had with her song. Morgana couldn’t possibly know what King Caspian is doing. We know the girl got into the ocean.”
“Caspian is likely preparing to hear she’s somewhere in the sea. He doesn’t know it’s us. We are looking for Delana, and we will find her. We will get her back then Luke will decide what to do. She’s clearly suffering a psychotic break over losing her child.”
Someone yelled, “We’ve been cursed to be infertile for years and you killed the first child we were blessed with!
Our god will curse us for this! Princess Delana was our hope, but you killed her baby!
The Marmara clan will rise against us if she makes it home.
Her brother will not rest until Crown Prince Luke is dead.
We can’t fight the Sargasso’s and the Marmara’s!
” Several people murmured their agreement.
Luke hissed, “I’ll have Odette here soon. She’ll give us a child. A child with Merrick and Sargasso blood. Delana will take her rejection back; I’ll torture her until she does. She’ll be by my side again and we will have more children.”
“Once we have a child, Delana will be happy here. We will have the Marmara’s support in anything we do because they won’t want to come against their sister. This was a minor setback. Don’t tell me you are afraid of some mangy dogs. We already hurt him, that dog won’t be hard to kill.”
Sassy hissed in my head. Tatum snarled, “If only we could rip that man child’s head off here and be done with him. I hate him.” I retorted, “You and me both, Tatum.” Tatum added, “I can sense that he is not stronger than our mate.”
Our mate turned into a giant Dire wolf, so no Luke was literally no match.
The man already ran from a pack of wolves that defended me, he’d absolutely run screaming from the Daniels.
Tatum teased, “Given how fast our mate is, the man child wouldn’t get far.
” Luke wouldn’t get a step in before Keaton killed his ass. My man was flash fast.
Someone yelled, “You had a source in the Daniels pack! That’s how we managed to arrange a car accident because you knew where he was. Keaton is an Alpha!” Luke laughed, “An Alpha under the influence of Harpy blood. He’s useless and weak.”
Tatum snarled loudly in my head. Another one yelled, “The girl has surfaced. She could accidentally help him.” That froze everyone on the stage. Well, that was insulting. After all this time, they hadn’t figured out I could help.
Darwin chuckled, “Nonsense. We haven’t heard of the young Alpha being frozen. The girl wouldn’t know how to bring him back to normal. The wolf is walking around just fine, ergo he’s still under the harpy influence.” Everyone relaxed.
I wanted to shout that they were wrong, because I already knew Caspian and my brother helped me. I didn’t because I finally understood why Caspian warned me not to speak here. I was related to them, so they’d hear me.
It didn’t make sense the dark could hear me if I was here but not see me. I guess that was another mounting question for Caspian. Knowing about the Supernatural World was complicated, but honestly a relief. I wasn’t crazy.
I was flung backwards and brought to a different court. I saw Lily. I was NOT calling her grandma. Tatum agreed, “Good call.” Lily looked furious. Someone asked, “Lily, have you reached Morgana?” Lily hissed, “That USELESS girl lied to me!”
Me or mom? Tatum snorted, “Morgana.” That made sense.
This is why I needed to sleep, universe!
Lily ranted on, “I warned Morgana the girl was too close to her father! Morgana told me she sent her back to Nashville. I thought she was in a long distance relationship with that Alpha boy. I never should’ve left my daughter in charge of the girl! ”
A Man on the throne sounded bored, “That doesn’t answer my question.
” The impulse to give him a high five overwhelmed me, but I didn’t move.
Lily admitted, “I still can’t get a hold of Morgana.
” Knowing she couldn’t see me I did a mocking dance in front of her, because Jarchi wasn’t going to let that happen.
A man stood declaring, “We have to make other plans. Do we know anything other than Princess Delana betrayed the Merrick’s?
Where could she take Odette? Princess Delana is not at home nor is Odette.
We have people watching her apartment in Yellow Hills pack territory.
That is hard enough with all the forces watching out for Odette now. ”
I told Tatum, “Ok, these guys are easily better than the Merrick’s. That guy uses our name.” Tatum growled, “I notice the old woman doesn’t.” I groaned, “Yeah, we hate her.” Lily snorted, “I honestly didn’t know Delana had that in her.”
Lily chuckled, “Good for her though. I do not know where the girl is any more than you do, King Wymore. Have your people seen her?” Seriously?
Delana gets a name, but not me? I’m her freaking granddaughter!
She refuses to call me anything other than ‘the girl.’ UGH!
Tatum growled and Sassy sang her song sadly.
King Wymore snorted, “No, but we have more problems with how Odette was raised. Princess Delana knows she’s related to the Merrick’s. Odette's human sensibilities will revolt, and in turn she will be more upset with Morgana than she has been. When we find Odette, you need to bring her here.”
Lily rolled her eyes, “Gee, I didn’t figure that out. You seem to be missing the problem. Princess Delana knows that the girl is related to you too.” King Wymore smiled, “I have already figured out that issue.”
I linked Tatum, “Did Lily really not catch Wymore had a plan all along?” Tatum agreed, “It does seem that way, and no she didn’t. That idiot thinks she’s the smartest person in the room.” A man came forward and nodded to Lily.
King Wymore said, “You know we adopted the young lad. He’s got our last name of Wedell, but he doesn’t have our blood. Delmar will bond with Odette. My son will not be an idiot like the Merrick boy was with her.”
Tatum huffed. King Wymore continued, “Delmar quite likes her already and thinks Odette’s quite smart, beautiful, and malleable.
He wants to keep her as well. The Merrick’s were short sighted here.
Morgana should’ve aligned with us to begin with.
” Translation: You wanted to kill her and you’re stupid.
I muttered to my wolf, “I’m really having to thank someone for not wanting to kill me and be nice?!” Tatum snorted, “No, you don’t have to do that at all.” Sassy and I both liked it better here than the Merrick’s though. Melanie said the other relative clan was the Wedell’s.
Lily nodded, “You know I agree. None of us want the girl to die. Girls in the Sargasso line are rare. It would anger both our god and goddess to destroy that. Yes, Prince Delmar is a good choice.” I was not even going to remotely feel grateful the woman who wouldn’t use my name didn’t want me dead. Lily left court.
Prince Delmar laughed, “I like that Lily thinks it was her idea.” Another man laughed, “Of course. We never planned for Princess Odette to marry me. It was always you, brother. We may be dark, but I’ll not marry my cousin.” Come on! Stop making me agree with you guys!
Tatum snorted, “I agree with none of that.” I reasoned, “I’m just saying it’s a better plan than forcing me to be with my cousin, carrying a child, then kill me.” Tatum replied, “With a bar that low, it’s not surprising one can leap over it.” Fair point.
The guy obviously related to me continued, “That’s revolting. I can’t believe Lily thought I’d agree to do that. Odette is beautiful, but she’s still my cousin. I can’t believe Luke stooped so low and used his snare to sleep with her.”
Prince Delmar laughed, “Really, brother? I can believe it. Luke can’t get a woman without his snare. He’s revolting.” Afreakingmen, Delmar. Tatum snorted a laugh. My cousin laughed “You got me there, brother.”
