Chapter 12 #2

“It HAD to start with the family in power before the Holloran’s. Why else would they turn Fairies against partials? The only reason they could have was to prevent the promised siblings from truly reaching their potential.”

“Why was that allowed? Because the goddesses suck. I mean seriously… you have this special group, and you let them get torn apart. Arion never had a chance here. He didn’t in any reality until Haley was twice light bound to Eric…

or ones they realized they were promised siblings.

So, some big event, or different decision, that didn’t happen here… which sucks… for our reality.”

“As the most unselfish promised sibling, Haley would always be chosen for the Ribbon… and she’d have been the only sibling willing to be twice light bound in the first place. So much rested on her shoulders, and her goddess let her be tortured… multiple times.”

“Haley’s entire childhood… then again after she found Eric.

If I’m right… the goddesses are worse than I have estimated them in my eyes.

To allow her to suffer… to allow her own brothers to feel conflicted about loving her…

because the promised siblings want to be close.

They NEED to be close, and the Enforcer needs to bond with the pure of heart fae. ”

“Arion and Aiden would’ve had to fight their own lights… because of the manipulations they were under the influence of… to allow Arion to die when they need him? It’s beyond not wanting the Angela to be born. There has to be more to them.”

Freya’s eyes flickered with knowledge. My wolf knew.

Freya asked me, “Whatever do you mean?” I snorted, “You are an all knowing wolf. You know.” Freya laughed, “I do, but what do you mean?” I sighed, “They have some other purpose. There has to be some divine purpose in these particular siblings being chosen.”

“The Ring is wrong…. big shocker. They cannot alter the promised sibling’s destiny.

I’ve read a little of what Haley went through.

She should’ve died as a child… healing light or not.

She was unpracticed most of her life and denied her Fairy side…

which is what the Ring wanted. I don’t think they wanted her to die, but she should’ve. I don’t think they’ve noticed that.”

“The only one who can be missing from the promised siblings is Arion. Aiden and Haley cannot be… and Haley should’ve died as a child. She had divine protection from death. She had to. Why, though? That fact means that no one else could be meant for the path of the promised siblings.”

“There has to be more to it than being a promised sibling… I just don’t know what. Which means there are a lot of books I need to read. Because as far as I knew… I read those books… but I couldn’t have because there is something missing. Care to share?”

Freya snorted, “Not at this time because I can’t. You will figure it out because you are not wrong. They have a higher purpose and calling.” I nodded, “Which I don’t think Alania knew. I think it’s bigger than her sight. I don’t think she had any idea what her children’s paths were.”

I groaned, “There’s not much known about the promised siblings. Which feels very intentional now. Someone knows… and they hid that knowledge. I just have to find that information. Everything in me tells me… I’ll find in Faerie.”

Freya agreed, “You will.” I sighed, “Great… it just feels like I’m close. I’m close to cracking who is behind the veil of the Ring… finally. Of course I’m still after Slade, but he’ll be with those three… well at least three people.”

“There could be more of them… whoever was turned Vampire could’ve turned members of the Fairy family the Holloran’s took over from… of course they could also still be alive as Fairies… GOSH DARN IT! It’s probably bigger than three of them.”

I fumed silently. I sighed, “Why do they have to be smart? If one is found out and killed everyone would think it was over while the others would re-group and change strategies. They’d be back in the shadows.”

I groaned, “Dang it! One of them is going to be offered up as a sacrificial lamb soon. When I find that information and I can prove it’s more than one person… do we keep that quiet? We could let them try to mess up? Or do we let them know that we know…. UGH! Both have pros and cons to them.”

Freya laughed, “When you get those answers and confirmations, we will talk to mate about that.” I sighed, “That’s a whole can of worms… I can’t exactly tell him all that without telling him I run the Resistance.” Freya snorted, “Yes, you can.”

I sighed, “But then it feels like lying… which I’m sure you noticed…

I am bad at. Some of that theory comes from Resistance information I built on my knowledge from my time reading books in Red Run.

If I open that can of worms… I have to go all in.

” Freya speculated, “I think you want to tell mate the truth.” I snorted.

Then I thought about it because Freya was in my head, and she knew my feelings.

Maybe I did want to tell Xander everything.

It felt like this huge thing between us.

I just wasn’t ready to give up the how intricately tied I was to the Resistance.

I’d worked really hard on it, and it was to protect those I loved.

My theory on who was behind the Ring had started before I’d left Red Run.

It was all about protecting Xander. He has a role to play too.

A role someone didn’t want him to fulfill, and I was keeping him safe.

When I was the one in danger and always had been.

I was on the Ring’s radar in two capacities.

As a sniper/agent that messes with their plans, but also as the leader of the Resistance. Just as they were looking for me…. and I knew that they were… they had to know, I was looking for them. That was dangerous because they didn’t want someone discovering how they worked as a group at the top.

I was logically their most wanted as the leader trying to figure them out.

As far as I knew… no one else had considered they were a group…

let alone who the group was. I’d bet the Hackura royal family might think something along the same lines as the Fairy family that was in control prior to the Holloran’s; however, they didn’t have access to the Fairy documentation I previously did.

Or access to the Fairy’s I’d met in the Ring. I had information they didn’t. I doubt the Cambridge’s had any idea it all really revolved around wanting Aiden, Arion, and Haley dead… well Haley eventually. I’d bet she was one who died much later than the other two.

It wasn’t just them though… it was their families. That had to be the Ring’s end game. Well, with Haley… they wanted to use her… which meant the Ring might not want her or the other girls in her family dead. The men… they definitely wanted them dead. They really were a serious set of sexist jerks.

Freya nudged me with her nose saying, “We need to go back. It’s morning and mate is awake.” I sighed, “Alright. The night certainly flew by here.” Freya snickered, “You’ll still be rested… just not as rested if we weren’t here.” I rolled my eyes, “Fabulous. Let’s get going.”

We found our way back to the creek and I laid down. I woke up back in our bed. Xander was already up and definitely ready for the day. My mate made a really good case for being in bed when he woke up. I was definitely a fan.

Freya snickered, “We are all fans. If only your weirdo self could sleep in.” I offered a compromise, “I could always try to get back before he wakes up.” Freya agreed, “I love this plan since you will continue not to sleep. Do that.” I smiled to myself.

I probably wouldn’t make it all the time… but I could probably get it down to a few days a week… at minimum. I decided that for once… I was going to relax in the morning. I had a lot to think about, and I needed to send Kingsley an email.

Xander actually suggested a bath. My mind literally blanked because I hadn’t had a bath in forever.

Of course, my mate snapped everything ready for me.

I’d almost tempted him into skipping his run.

I wasn’t sure how I did that… by sitting there…

but somehow, I did. My mate ended up leaving because someone wanted to see him.

When he popped out, I grabbed my computer and pulled up my Resistance network.

I didn’t see anything suggesting a kidnapping was in the works.

I sighed and sent out a message for everyone to keep their eyes open because something was coming.

They would keep their eyes peeled. I would be notified the second anything went wrong.

I called Kingsley, but she didn’t answer so I left a message. I spoke to the answering machine, “Hi Kingsley… A lot has happened since we last spoke. I’d rather tell you about it all in person, but I wanted to see if you were ready to come back here…to the states. I’d like to see you.”

“I’m not in Black Path anymore… I can practically see you jumping for joy. I’m in Black Mountain… I know you’re squealing… yes, I’m with Xander… I can give you the longer story in person. So… I need to know if you want to come back.”

“Also, I want to see if you can discreetly get intel on a Vampire that can compel other Supernatural’s such as Werewolves.

It’s sensitive and we are not advertising that, but I know you have contacts.

Let me know if you come with anything on that…

and yeah… if you’re coming here. I still reserve the right to have Valentina or Virgil shimmer to bring you here in an emergency. So… yeah… umm… talk later.”

I hung up knowing Kingsley didn’t tend to check her messages frequently. So, I didn’t really know when she’d hear that message. I had scheduled touch points with her. If my friend missed one, we’d go in and find her. So far, she had never missed one.
