Chapter A lot of Talking #5
Bjourn said, “Gunner does want a profile. He said access but I’m saying profile.” I squeaked, “He said it himself…I’m fine…everything is fine…I’m an adult.” I grabbed my laptop and put up profiles for Gunner and Micah then emailed it to them. I announced, “Done! Gosh…do you think he’ll use it?”
Egres faded back in to say, “He’s probably already using it.” I snorted, “No, he’s not…I’d know.” Egres rubbed his temples and faded back. Bjourn asked, “Do you not have to ask permission to put people on the network?”
I asked, “Uhhh what? Why? Permission? What? Huh? I don’t understand what you’re saying right now….I’m too excited….No…I’m fine.” Eric said, “Your boss might not like the Hackura having access.”
Freya snorted, “You squeaked so loud about the tech man’s name.” I shrugged saying out loud, “I mean… there is no system without me… so… it’s fair… that I set up who I want. Plus… of all people who could hack it… I mean it would be Prince Gunner.” Since Charles already had access.
Bjourn said, “A Fairy would agree with that, but I don’t think a Fairy runs the Resistance.
” No, because I did. I waved, “I’m in charge of the network…
so… it’s fine.” I linked Freya, “See? Evasions are my jam.” Freya agreed, “Yes, they are. Thor is worried about you now though. He does not agree it’s fine. ” I reasoned, “But it is.”
Bjourn said, “Well, Gunner won’t let anyone know he’s in the system.” False. I had set up a trace one his access… which he could remove… if he wanted… but if I checked on his access, I could see what he was doing… or I could just let him talk to me.
I did note my wolf was right. Not only was Thor worried, but my father in law was. In fact both men seemed worried. Why did they think the Resistance leader was bad? Freya replied, “They don’t.” It seemed like they did since they were worried about it.
A pop sounded and Aiden sat down. He smiled saying, “I assumed this meeting would start late.” I didn’t even know he was coming. That’s what I get for not checking my alerts before the morning run. I wasn’t prepared and I didn’t care for that.
Eric said, “Melanie was just setting Gunner up on the Resistance system and getting to the hidden agenda the Supernatural Council has. It appears I’m not the only one who has had paperwork stopped before it made it to me.”
Aiden and Bjourn looked surprised. Bjourn said, “I never got a call asking about whether or not we received paperwork.” Aiden laughed, “How marvelous, neither did I. They must know someone is stopping them then. Do they know who?”
I played with my sleeve. I whispered, “In a way… not who… but…” Eric interrupted, “They know it’s the Resistance stopping them from getting to us.
” I sighed, “I… well… yes.” Bjourn said, “Then either the head of the Resistance is going against the Supernatural Council, and they give you the information because they are on it. Or your backer isn’t on the Supernatural Council but is close to them. ”
I hacked them after they refused to help me get justice for my parents and hear my case. They made me mad… and it felt fair. Then I discovered they were already hacked… it was a whole thing…. but Bjourn wasn’t completely wrong.
I was going against the Supernatural Council.
Freya growled, “The corrupt Council! They should’ve sent you home immediately.
We would’ve been together. THEN they’d actually have more a case to use us since they brought our kidnapping to light.
Not that mate or anyone would allow it, but they had a stronger case if they’d what was right. ”
That was completely true. Giving me back would’ve been the smartest move except someone on the Supernatrual Council was in the Ring. Maybe more than one. Aiden asked, “What exactly do the Supernatural Council want with this paperwork?”
I sighed, “Normally, what they want is to have control over anyone with special abilities. Particularly hybrids. They do not want to have to receive permission from the Alpha or the person in question. If they want their services, they have access to them without their choice or their Alpha’s. ” Eric growled.
Bjourn frowned, and I realized that actually would be a massive problem for him now. He was a Protector of the Realms and his daughter in law was a freaking Dragon. My anxiety picked up. Xander linked, “Lovebug?”
This Hackura bond was giving away all my emotions. I replied, “It’s fine… just a factor I hadn’t considered. Hastein has K.. right?” Xander replied, “Of course he does. Hastein will never let anyone hurt her.” Ok… that was good.
If the Supernatural Council found out about Kingsley, bad things would follow….and I’d have to kill them sooner than I planned. Freya said, “Nothing will happen to Kayda. We will go in with the Hackura and mate to help her if she ever required it.”
I could go in alone, but going with the Hackura would guarantee the Supernatural Council left Kingsley alone.
Out loud I said, “You can’t let them see her.
They can’t know about her… I’ve kept her off their radar…
and she’s almost got on it a few times… but now she’ll be more visible…
since… uhh your family is.” Eric and Aiden frowned.
Bjourn’s eyes narrowed because he knew exactly who I was talking about. Eric asked, “Who? Shouldn't we be worried about you? The second set of paperwork must have included something about the white wolf.”
I shrugged answering, “Wolves with special abilities… which they were trying to get in front of you anyway. They added unusual colors… which… isn’t white… when you think about it. So… even when they try… they suck at wording things. It’s a roundabout way of saying the white wolf.”
“The paperwork did detail that any wolf apprehended with special abilities would be turned over to the Council so they could make sure they weren't a danger. Which is obviously code for they would imprison said wolf and use them. That’s not the point right now. They CANNOT find out about her.”
Bjourn frowned asking, “Why? What is she?” I winced saying, “I can’t tell you that….that’s not… it’s just…ummm that’s her deal. She’s not one to fall in line. They wouldn’t know how to contain or control her… they would decide to kill her if they found out.”
“I mean they would try… I won’t let that happen, but I need your help. If we bring the Ring and Supernatural Council down together… it would be faster….than if I did it alone…..and I want her to be happy…and she is…but she’s now more visible.”
Bjourn stiffened, “No one will kill her.” I reasoned, “I mean…I said I wouldn’t let that happen.. but I can tell you the Supernatural Council would try to do so if they found out about her. Those people are not who you think they are.”
“I would imagine only Aiden understands like to be closer to what it is…his people get locked out all the time for a reason…more than they know actually. They don’t have the real schedule of meetings…
and they aren’t told about some appointments…
in fact….people make sure they aren’t there if someone they don’t want them to know about it on the docket. ”
Aiden angrily asked, “Is that so? Because that is more than I was thinking about them.” I answered, “It is so. Tell them to fire their secretaries and watch the group descend into chaos if they want some fun… because there’s a reason they’ve only communicated with their secretaries by phone and email.
It’s because their motivations would tell your people they are bad and being lied to. ”
Aiden grinned, “How fun. That sounds like a good time.” Good.
I hoped it ruined Herman’s whole day. I warned, “Then when they don’t like your representatives pick their new secretaires when everyone else did…
.you’ll see what I mean. The Supernatural Council will give them a list of options under the guise of being helpful…
because ‘flighty Fairies’ don’t want to spend their time interviewing.
They will even offer to do said interviews.
They aren’t original in their prejudice. ”
“Someone on it is absolutely in league with the Ring. I can’t crack all their files yet, but I checked their system. The virus that the Ring is using to get information didn’t come from an outside hack. It came from inside.”
I turned back to Bjourn, “I can handle myself and so can she, but she is my friend. I don’t let my friends get caught in the crossfire. She has lived a solitary life but joined the Resistance because of me. If they come for her, it will be my fault. She was fine on her own.”
Eric said, “Then this conversation is about the woman who saved Tenley and Blaise with you. H’s mate?
” Bjourn stared at me, and I simply stared back letting him see my sincerity.
I added, “She knows too. She’d have gotten a copy of what they were trying to slide through on the paperwork.
She’s always had to know that if people found out about her…
she’d be in for a hard time. She’s really intelligent.
” Damn it, Kingsley. Why didn’t I put it together faster?
Bjourn said, “We can bring her to our realm.” I sighed, “Unless that’s her idea… she won’t go. It’s… a whole… ugh! It’s because she’s been alone so long… you guys just need to be you and prove you won’t go away.”
“You’ll… well…umm tell him to keep a close eye on her?
She’s not reckless. Like I said, she’ highly intelligent, but this is my fault.
I should’ve seen it sooner…I thought the time it took to get her to your realm would be ok…
because…you guys are you…I didn’t factor the Supernatural Council into the timetable. ”
