Chapter 13 No Longer Hidden #3
It didn’t even take a second before the cheers of Haley’s name filled the arena. Then Gerdishek made a mistake rookie fighters do and took his eyes off his opponent because he was distracted. It cost him his life.
Haley addressed the crowd that was hanging on her every word.
She could give one heck of a rallying speech.
Everyone was cheering for her and Aiden.
We joined them on the battlefield. Sierra linked, “Aww, look at that you were right. This is my shocked face.” I glanced back but my friend wasn’t shocked at all.
Freya told me, “I feel so energized right now. That seems odd.” I explained, “It’s not odd at all.
Every twice light bound mate will feel this way.
The light inside us that is our mate’s is feeding off this energy.
” Freya said, “That made sense. I love that you know all this.” I smiled and squeezed my mate’s hand.
I couldn’t help but feel a little sad. The O’Toole’s had to know they would ultimately lose to the Holloran’s. Yet they poisoned all these people against partials to try and win a war they were literally never going to win.
Knowing that, the O’Toole’s still poisoned a whole group of people and their children. They’d doomed their whole line teaching that rhetoric. I knew Charles was going to get his hands on any O’Toole he could for revenge.
Afterwards we were all waiting around. The Fairies were drinking in excess. Eric was wrapped around Haley possessively glaring at every male in sight. I don’t think he realized there were quite a few female fairies staring at Haley with lust in their eyes at this point too.
Everyone wanted to talk to Haley about Alania. I think I was the only person who realized Haley had to have known. Haley seemed more upset that she’d wasted time, energy, and effort into trying to bring Alania back to life so she could kill her on her own.
Aiden enjoyed teasing everyone that he was right about Haley not being upset. I wasn’t sure why they wouldn’t have listened to him. He grew up with Haley, and they were both betrayed by Alania. If anyone would understand her feelings… it would be him.
I looked around at this family that had all been brought together by Haley. It was an unlikely group with the Hackura and Fairies, but…. here we all were. Now there were all kinds of Supernatural’s in this family.
Afterwards I was talking to Elise and Buttercup. Elise asked, “So, how’s the honeymoon going?” I blushed saying, “It’s going great! I’ve loved both our bubbles when we’ve been away though. First right after we met, and now this trip. It’s been amazing.”
Buttercup said, “Not to burst that bubble….” I interrupted, “But you’re going to… I’m getting that sense. It’s ok… my bubble is always burst… is it a bad person? Do I have to kill someone? I’m pretty good at that… so don’t worry.”
Buttercup laughed, “No, there’s no need to kill anyone. The rest of us girls think you need some time based on the last conversation about her.” I snorted, “Cheyenne is coming to town then. Alone or with her brother?”
Elise answered, “With her brother. They will be there around the time you get back.” I dryly said, “Of course she will. Chhheyyyy probably asked Phil when Xander returns.” Elise sighed, “She didn’t actually.” I rolled my eyes surmising, “Lomax did then.” Elise nodded.
I sighed, “Well, he asked because she told him to. I’ll mentally prepare and plot how to get her in the ring at the gym for a fight.
” Buttercup bit her lip saying, “My dad will camp out in the territory.” I pointed out, “He does that a lot anyway… which is a way of saying your parents have a house there.” Buttercup smiled, “That they do.”
I asked Elise, “What are the odds Cheyenne will fight Xander?” I knew the answer was unequivocally that she would. They always fought each other. Elise winced, “I’d say it’s high. EJ was going to talk to Alexander about it though.”
I rolled my eyes saying what we all knew, “Neither of them get it. EJ might have an inkling because you told him; however, Xander won’t see the problem. If Chhheeyyyy kisses his cheek once, I’ll kick her butt.”
Freya snarled, “I will RIP her eyeballs out.” I asked, “Why not her lips? Her eyes didn’t commit the crime.” Freya snorted, “Fine. I’ll rip her lips off.” I countered, “Or… and hear me out… we could bust her lip open… pretty badly.”
Freya sighed, “Fine but something happens to the appendage she touches mate with. Bank on the fact that if her lips touch our mate, I will hurt her.” Fair enough. Hugs were fine… kissing was out. In any and all forms and no one could give me crap about that.
I told Elise, “If Cheyyyy wasn’t after my mate we’d probably get along.
She’s a Warrior, we could talk about fighting…
.but she wants what’s mine. She’s made that incredibly obvious.
I could be wrong, but I’d say there’s a point one percent chance she will respect the fact that Xander is mated and married.
I suppose given there is that small chance… so…. I’ll try to keep an open mind.”
Buttercup laughed, “Point one percent is keeping an open mind? God. Elise, I love her. I’m so upset I didn’t meet her as a pup.
” I shrugged, “It is keeping an open mind. I could’ve said it’s one hundred…
given her behavior… and I don’t like giving full percentages…
but this situation could easily be an exception. ”
“Instead, I’m giving Cheyyyy a very small chance to surprise me. I really should just say she’s not going to respect our marriage or mating. I just don’t think she will. Looking at all the facts, I am making a calculated error even giving her a small chance.”
“Only because I do know that Xander believes they are friends. So, for him I’m willing to make that statistical error… which is difficult for me… because I know I’m correct and in this rare instance I could give a hundred percent to a situation.”
Buttercup bit her lip. Elise smiled saying, “God, I missed you Ladybug. I do know you hate giving out one hundred percent in situations.” I smiled replying, “I missed you too. I looked forward to every email you sent me.”
Buttercup said, “I knew I should’ve started emailing her too since everyone was doing it.” I snorted, “Not that many people were doing it.” Buttercup winked, “Next time, I’ll just jump in and send the email. Even though I thought it would be weird.”
I laughed, “I’d have answered… well you… because… we are sisters in law… and I knew that… we would be.” Buttercup smiled, “Of course you would’ve. I’m surprised my dad didn’t reach out to you.” I tilted my head admitting, “He did. Like a lot… actually.” Buttercup gasped asking, “He did what now?”
Before I could answer Xander had popped back over to me and us away from the group. It was amazing just being together with no noise or fight coming our way. We were just enjoying each other’s company. I knew a storm was coming when we got home, but at least… we had this quiet before said storm.
I couldn’t stop my eyes from raking over my husband’s perfect body. I really couldn’t believe this was my life. I was mated to Xander. Which… I’d always known that but… he was just so dang sexy. Before I knew it the trip was wrapping up.
I was both excited to go home while dreading it. It was nice not looking out for the next disaster that was coming our way. Wearing Haley’s dresses had gone exactly as planned. The whole realm was excited for her store to open.
Xander’s lust level when I wore them was off the charts. My husband had ripped each dress off of me. Even though he could’ve snapped them off. I really wasn’t sure what he’d been thinking. Freya told me, “That mate wanted inside us that very second.” I turned red.
Freya snorted, “You are innocent. I do so love you my human half.” Well, that was good. We were going to be together for a really long time. Freya replied, “I knew we would be. I got to choose my human, and I knew that I’d chosen wisely.”
Xander dropped me off in Faerie’s library and left to talk to his uncle. I looked around at first not knowing when to start. I saw on the second floor there was a section with dust everywhere. That was odd. Why wouldn’t they clean that?
No one had been over there so maybe I could find some answers in that area. I walked over to it clutching the duffle bag Xander had given me. Aiden appeared so I smiled at him. I asked, “Is it ok if I take some of these book for research?”
Aiden titled his head and said, “Sure, if you find a section you find interesting. Typically, I don’t allow these books to leave, but you are my nephew's mate. I’ll know where the books are, and you’ve had books from this realm before that you treated with care. What section are you looking in?”
I frowned answering, “This one?” Which felt obvious since I was standing in front of it.
Aiden laughed, “Evasive.” Then he popped away while I stared where he’d been.
I muttered, “How the heck was that evasive? I’m literally standing in front of the section I want to take books from.
Why would the King let all these books get so dusty? ” Freya was oddly quiet.
I shrugged and began to look through titles. I blew on the covers to take off the layers of dirt. I coughed and waved my hand in front of my face. I sighed, “Where’s a Fairy when you need them? They have to have a way to get all the dust out of here.”
I sighed and the first title I came across that was interesting was about Fairy visions. I stared at it, plucked it off the shelf, then wiped it off. I said, “Well, if there was a book Angela would need… it would have to be this one, right?”
I groaned, “No one here, Melanie. I mean… it would make sense this is the book though. UGH! Stop talking out loud to no one.” I quickly thumbed through it, noting there were passages about how to use charms to maintain visions. That sounded like something that would come in handy.
