Chapter 14 Unapproved Likeness #3

“You attacked my sister in law after conceded a fight. You are not welcome here in this pack and you should be grateful Alexander is letting you get care. I’d toss you and your brother out of here without it, and I’m the level headed one.”

It was because of the respect I currently had for Lomax that I didn’t. Chason linked me, “Charles is here.” I groaned replying, “Of course he is. Because now I’ve stepped into this shit with Cheyenne, so of course the annoying Vampire popped back up. I just bet he knew Cheyenne was here.”

Chason said, “The Muffin Luna is giving him crap for being rude to you. He’s taking it surprisingly well.

” Interesting. I grabbed Cheyenne and popped her to the hospital.

Several people glared at her. It was safe to say someone had heard the fight and that my former friend had gone after Melanie after the fight had ended.

Ethan walked up to me slowly. I ordered, “Treat Cheyenne, please.” Cheyenne said, “Can I get some morphine?” She’d said it slowly. Ethan tisked, “Funny thing. We seem to have run out of morphine.” Dylan burst through the door complimenting Ethan, “Good man, doctor buddy.”

Ethan deadpanned, “I’ll speak with the staff members that do inventory.

” Oden snorted, “We are not out.” I knew that, but Ethan could lie.

Dylan cooed, “Sure you will. I have a new rule for the crazy she wolves. It caught on in Alpha Theo’s pack with Clairatigan.

Now we have caught on to it here with Cheyenvious.

I just love my goddess and her nicknames.

Everyone will be at my booth at the next Summit. ”

I asked, “Why?” Dylan said, “You’ll see nosey rosy, MMSGAP. You’ll just see.” Whatever. I could wait until next month to figure out what he was on about. Gavin, Rose and Ethan’s son, came out with a gurney.

Gavin rolled his eyes and they took Cheyenne away. Lomax started to follow but I grabbed his arm. My friend sighed and faced me with resignation all over his face. I told him, “Cheyenne is being treated because I respect you. Did you know?” Dylan teased, “How vague your question is, mini moody.”

Lomax asked, “That Cheyenne likes you? Yes. You might be the only person who didn’t know that. I made her promise not to cause problems since we were coming to visit. She was distraught when we got your wedding invitation.”

I pointed out, “You didn’t come.” Lomax said, “I already had a meeting with the Alpha I had to attend.” I said, “I heard you made Male Lead Warrior. Congratulations, Lomax.” He nodded, “Thanks.” I studied him and he studied me.

My friend told me, “I’ve told Cheyenne countless times you do not feel anything for her.

I suspected there was someone else who held your heart.

Now, I know it was Luna Melanie. Cheyenne shamed our family going after your Luna after she called the fight and turned her back. I was moving to stop her.”

I admitted, “I noticed.” Lomax sighed, “Our dad will be pissed as all get out when he finds out about this.” I asked, “Does everyone else really not call her Chey?” Lomax winced.

Eventually he said, “No, she has always insisted on Cheyenne.” I snorted, “Great. Stop the Private Investigator before I do.”

Lomax replied, “I know who she’d use. I already texted a friend of mine to go talk to him. Cheyenne doesn’t have a job which means she would’ve used our dad’s money. Which he will not be happy about.” I asked, “Isn’t she a Warrior in your pack?”

Lomax sighed, “In name. Cheyenne doesn’t really do patrols.

She did just enough to make Warrior rank and status.

Now, she just maintains it.” I winced, “So Melanie is right. People let her win fights.” Lomax said, “Since they are probably afraid of my dad, me, and my other brothers; hell, even my younger sister; I’d go with yes. ”

I groaned, “Fuck.” Lomax admitted, “I know they don’t go as hard on her, and she uses her figure and flirtatious nature to her advantage.” I asked, “Has she met her mate?” Lomax said, “She wouldn’t be here if she had.”

I disagreed, “My dad had some she wolf so obsessed with him she rejected her mate and sold him to a Fairy.” Lomax recoiled from me.

Eventually he said, “Cheyenne wouldn’t do that.

To be honest, I feel for the guy who is mated to her.

She’s still really immature even at twenty-five.

She likes to play games, and she’s very prideful.

Cheyenne’s my sister though and I love her. ” I nodded.

I told him, “Keep her away from this territory, and far away from me.” Lomax said, “I will. Even if I have to lock her in her damn room. I won’t have to when we get home though. Dad will for sure.” I shrugged because I didn’t really care so long as she stayed away.

I told him, “You guys can stay until she’s healed or treated.

Whichever you prefer.” Lomax nodded, “We will be gone tomorrow. I am sorry about this, Alexander.” I said, “You’re still my friend, Lomax.

I hope I’m still yours.” He smiled, “You are and I’m glad this doesn’t change things between us. ” My friend walked away.

Dad walked in announcing, “I heard there’s a Vampire here.

Your Beta and Gamma fled the area.” I nodded, “I heard the same about the Vampire, not Phil and Gage.” I linked both, “You fled the area?” Gage grunted, “Having sex. Can’t stop you from killing Vampires.

” I rolled my eyes. Phil just opened our link until I shut it not needing to hear the sex noises.

EJ clapped his hand together, “So, let’s go see what that’s about before your mate kicks your ass, little brother.” I rolled my eyes and popped to Melanie. Mom had popped in with us too. Charles winked at me and I couldn’t hold my growl back.

Melanie didn’t appreciate it, but Charles’s lips twitched into a smile. He actually apologized before another word was said. I was pretty sure you could knock me over with a feather. Oden huffed, “I dislike him so.” Yeah, I still did too.

I begrudgingly admitted I was not kind to Charles either. He started it, but I still wasn’t nice to him. Charles mentioned visiting with Amabella. What? Chason linked me, “Amabella is his second chance mate.” Thank fucking god Melanie had been right about that.

I couldn’t deny Charles being mated made my whole day.

Charles’s eye darkened with anger when he spoke of the O’Toole’s.

His hatred for them clearly burned into his very being.

I couldn’t blame him for that either. I looked at Melanie knowing I was already out for blood on those who hurt her.

So, I could hardly hold that against Charles.

Oden grumbled, “Yay. The Vampire can apparently keep himself in the loop. That means he doesn’t need to talk to mate.

” Honestly, I didn’t really care how it happened.

I wanted to eliminate the threat. If Charles could help with that then more power to him.

Charles left along with my family, leaving Melanie and myself to discuss this shit show with Cheyenne.

I linked Fowler, KJ, and Chason, “Go ahead and go home, I’ve got her.” They replied, “Yes, Alpha.” KJ added, “She’s taking it all pretty well and calmly. You’re welcome, because I told Esther to come talk to Melanie about the whole Charles situation. I’m sure advice about this issue was given too.”

I replied, “I really appreciate it, KJ.” KJ replied, “I’m glad that file your dad gave me is finally coming in handy.” I wished it had come in handy sooner, but I’d take what I could get. I heard them all leave. Melanie made some really good points about Cheyenne.

My former friend obviously didn’t need a tour. It actually amused me greatly how much Melanie seemed to know about Cheyenne. I knew my wife had a crush on me since she was little. Hearing that she kept tabs on people who liked me was somewhat adorable. Oden purred, “It is.”

Melanie pointed out people are nice when we are paying attention and the mates feel they should just deal with it. EJ and I were going to have to cut that off. I didn’t want any of the mates to feel badly or to deal with a rude person in our territory.

My mother did that with Cassandra for far too long. I was done with that attitude. It hurt my mother and I wouldn’t let people like Cheyenne hurt my family. No matter who they were they were to me in the past. They weren’t really my friends if they treated Melanie poorly.

Melanie asked questions about the fighting level I gave. I wished I had a better answer for my mate. I just didn’t know why I’d never gone full speed at Cheyenne. I didn’t take it easy on anyone. So why this woman?

Oden sighed, “I don’t know either.” Great. My wolf usually had the answers. Oden snorted, “At least you know that now, not that you listened to me before.” I snorted, “One thing. There was one thing I doubted you on. Lately, you’ve just been keeping secrets.”

Oden snorted, “I’m still holding onto that one thing. It’s going to be tossed out at random for the rest of eternity.” I shook my head thinking that was just great. I stared at my mate in surprise when she asked if I healed Cheyenne.

Did my wife really doubt how motivating not having sex was? Let alone the fact that I would never heal someone who charged my mate from behind. That was just never happening. I felt shame when Melanie said we shouldn’t let other people who weren’t family kiss any part of us.

Oden huffed, “Mate is right.” I knew she was. Because If Charles had kissed her cheek, I would’ve exploded his brains all over the walls. I hated that I let that happen. What I hated most was that it hurt Melanie when she was everything to me.

All I ever wanted was Melanie and I wanted her to know that. I picked her up and put her on my lap then possessively claimed her. I felt the earth reaching out to me and accepted it. I felt the magic all around.
