No Time to Plan #7
Eric linked me, “Why do I have a border patrol asking me why you are running from your guard?” I linked, “Technically speaking…. they are Xander’s guard… not mine.” Eric snorted, “They are both your guards. Why are you running from them?”
I saw his wolf out of the corner of my eye. He should’ve had Haley pop to me. It worked in my favor that he was trying to deal with this while letting her spend time with her grandpups. Freya snorted, “Thor would like us to stop and talk to them.” No.
I linked Eric, “I have an opportunity to save my friend… keep interest away from her… while protecting Xander. So… I’m taking it. It’s kind of what I do… all the time… it’s fine.” Eric asked, “What are you talking about?”
I instructed my father in law, “Call Charles. He’ll be able to track me.
He can get into any camera… like literally anywhere.
Plus…. Gunner…. He definitely can. I know this is big.
Prepare for battle.” Eric shouted, “Oh hell no! Get your ass back here right now! We can coordinate. We need more time. I meant it when I said you belong here. You are not alone, Melanie.”
I linked Freya, “See? This is their problem. They want to take all this time to plan.” Freya snorted, “Uh huh.” Whatever…. I was right. KJ, Fowler, and Chason were running towards me from the opposite direction… but they weren’t going to make it in time.
I ran through the holoport to Nashville, then through to Missouri. I grabbed our fastest car and took off for the meeting spot. I felt it when I passed through a barrier. I stopped the car and looked around. I asked Freya, “What the hell was that? It didn’t look like anything.”
Freya answered, “We can sense barriers to magic now. There is something preventing Fairies from popping here, Hackura portaling, or a Demon from shimmering.” That didn’t sound ominous… or anything… it was also that EVIL scientist lady’s fault. I was so going to kill her one day.
Freya declared, “We are alone.” I told her, “I’m alone a lot… so that’s not really new.” Freya argued, “I meant without backup. I’m always here with you now, and you know that.” I couldn’t help but smile at that.
My phone rang and I checked who was calling. I promptly winced knowing someone called Xander.
I answered, “Umm hi… I called you but you didn’t answer and…” My husband snarled, “What the fuck is going on? Dad said you went off on your own and I can’t pop to you.”
I mentally calculated the timing saying, “I have like three minutes before… uhhhh I need to get where I’m going. Did Hastein get to K?” Xander questioned, “How the fuck would I know that? I didn’t know this had anything to do with her!”
I hummed, “Which is… part of… why I’m here… in case Hastein can’t stop Kingsley in time. I needed to beat her here. Charles can track my watch. So can my friends… well they say it’s hard. Micah can.. or Gunner. I’m in Missouri… that’s not the point. This is our chance.”
Xander growled, “Get your ass back to Black Mountain so we can talk about this!” I said, “Sometimes you just have to act… on the intel… or the things that get handed to you. This is one of those times. I’m protecting my friend…. and you.”
“This was Kingsley’s inquiry about the Vampire who can compel Supernatural’s. I’m going to get a name because that Vampire will be here… and… I think I know who it is… but there are questions about how it could be possible… and….”
Xander yelled, “Of course he will be there. He’ll also be there with backup!” I said, “I’m not going to kill him or even try. I’m….” Xander snarled, “Are you fucking kidding me?! You plan to let them kidnap you?! BE FUCKING KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW?”
I said, “No… I’m not the best at joking… or so I’ve been told… but this is a good plan. You might not like it…ok you hate it…. but it is. The Ring gathers somewhere in Missouri. With me fake captured they will probably throw a party.”
“Even though… the past should indicate… I’m not the best prisoner… I’m actually the worst one… I’m a ticking time bomb… which they know… yet they are still going to take me… it’s truly madness. They will all come to the party too. It’s our chance to get them all together and take them down.”
Xander growled, “This call is NOT the time to be planning something of this magnitude. We need weeks to plan something on this scale.” I disagreed, “No, we don’t. I’ve been planning for this…. well… seven years.”
Xander shouted, “I haven’t!” I reasoned, “Just track me via…my watch…. once they throw their party. You will have more people at your disposal than you can imagine. My friends know what to do…. Because… it’s a whole plan. I love you, Xander.”
Freya said, “Mate knows that.” I explained, “I have to do this… it’s our chance.
When you plan something for weeks… well that’s longer that the plans can be discovered.
There could be plants somewhere along the line for the Ring or the Supernatural Council…
that we don’t know about. This is going to work because they will believe beyond a shadow of a doubt that I’m captured. Trust me.”
Xander gritted his teeth, “I do trust you, that’s not the problem.
I’m going to punish the shit out of you when you get home for this.
” Freya purred, “Oh goodie. I take back all reservations about this plan I previously had. This is the BEST idea you’ve ever had.
God, I love my human.” I bit my lip so I wouldn’t laugh at my raunchy wolf.
I told Xander, “I’m sure you will.” I sent a green code to all the watches.
Xander asked, “What the fuck does green mean? I need a tutorial in this watch and the damn codes!” I answered, “You know what it means… I copied it from the Hackura… so it means go… which is fairly universal… even humans agree.”
I added, “My friends will help you understand. I have to go.” Xander declared, “Melanie Jane McAlister Conners, you are my whole world. I swear to Aesir you’d better be fine. Do not let them hurt you, and when you get home I’m spanking you. A lot.”
Freya purred, “This gets better and better.” I rolled my eyes at my wolf. I replied to my husband, “If that’s what my Alpha wants to do… then I won’t stop you. If you could keep my brothers and dad from going nuclear…. that would be great. Ok, thanks bye.” I hung up the phone.
My mated sent me his annoyance so hard I honked the horn. Well, that announced my position to whoever was here… and I could tell they were here. I got out of the car. Freya linked me, “We are surrounded. I’m just saying we could fight our way out of this.”
I admitted, “I know we could. I also knew we were surrounded… which you knew.” Freya said, “It’s insulting that I’m about to let someone sneak up on us.” I reasoned, “You’re not letting them. We know they are there.” Freya snorted, “Sure.” I bit my lip.
I told her, “I promise we will kill them later. Does that make it better?” Freya snorted, “I suppose.” I said, “I bet… that Selene doesn’t want us to do this.” Freya perked up. My wolf snickered, “You’re right. That makes it so much better. I bet my wonderful sister wants us to let this go.”
I agreed, “For sure… easily.” Freya emphatically stated, “I’m officially all in on this plan. My sister can’t like it, and mate wants to punish us. All the sexy fun in our future plus and we are pissing off my sister. This plan has jumped to my all time favorite of your plans.”
I heard someone coming up behind me quickly.
Which meant… it was a Vampire. This was going to hurt.
I pretended not to be aware until the last second.
I wasn’t going to give them the satisfaction of knocking me out from behind.
I turned to face the blow a second before I was hit in the head and everything went dark.
I woke up to an argument. Selene’s voice annoyed me instantly as she said, “It wasn’t supposed to go this way!” Freya snorted, “So you prefer the path where the Dragon got taken. The Dragon who is the mate of the future Hackura King. I just bet Aesir loves that path. Let’s call him.”
Selene warned, “Don’t you dare! You should’ve taken over and talked your human out of this.” Freya sounded bored, “Free will is a thing, dear sister. I’m her wolf. She decides things in her human form.” Selene yelled, “You are a goddess, Freya!”
Freya asked, “And?” Selene shouted, “And?! You have the ability to take over when she’s in human form! You should’ve stopped this.” Freya argued, “Melanie and I are a team. She made a judgment call, and I support it.”
Selene yelled, “You shouldn’t have!” Freya disagreed, “Melanie was right. You’re just mad because a whole hoard of your wayward pups are finally going to die.” Selene warned, “They aren’t just my children! Other goddesses will be upset about this. You’re in danger.”
I snorted, “You’re a liar… you are good at it though… but you’re still lying.” I sat up. Freya and Selene stopped arguing. I said, “You’re just like Aeidelyn… at least she’s a Fairy. You’re using evasive truths. You must hang around Azoney a lot.” The look on her face said I was right.
I told her, “Freya and I are going to take these people out. I have an army coming…. PLUS, the Conners and their allies… that’s multiple, well known Supernatural Kingdoms. You’re mad that your plan to prolong this fight from happening didn’t work.”
“In your version Kingsley would’ve been outed… or could’ve been.. if she came. Kayda would’ve come out to protect her. Which means a Dragon would’ve been discovered. I’m pretty sure, from what I’ve read, Kingsley was sent here by her family to keep her safe until she was ready to return.”
“Word of a purple Dragon being sighted would’ve started something we are not ready for. Right?” I knew a man looking for Kingsley had been seen… and if I hadn’t been in the hole I’d have had him. I also knew… he didn’t know Kingsley was here.
