No Time to Plan #10

King Frederick laughed, “I do so like you, little wolf. I think instead of the plan others have I’ll make you my personal pet.

” Freya snarled in anger. I declined, “Sorry… but I’m already someone else’s Werewolf pet.

Which… means I’m taken. I couldn’t possibly manage being the pet to two Supernatural’s. ”

“Ok… that’s not really true. I could… I don’t want to… well for you… because I don’t like you. So as far as you are concerned…. I’m spoken for. Sorry about ya… but I can literally feel someone about to tell me I’m a bad liar… and you know that I’m lying… so I’m not actually sorry.”

I felt Xander’s torrent of anger while Kingsley was trying not to smirk. King Frederick hissed, “Well, you’re mated to a Werewolf, and your owner didn’t keep their blood pet protected from us. Who is your owner?”

I admitted, “Well… that’s not the word I’d use…

but her name is Kayda. I’m her Werewolf pet.

She decided… ya know, it’s a whole thing…

and she did not know I was coming… so… that’s not her fault.

Also… insinuating Kayda is a bad pet owner…

.is not a good call. It’s not true… and it will upset her.

Ask Booker… it’s hard to... keep track of me. ”

Booker sighed, “That’s true.” I knew that. Freya was laughing pretty hard in my head now. Xander’s anger abated. I realized he’d thought I was calling a Vampire my owner and wanted to roll my eyes. Did my mate really think I was calling myself a Vampire pet?

King Frederick said, “I don’t know a Kayda.

” I reasoned, “You wouldn’t. She doesn't like a lot of people… and I seriously doubt she likes you. Which is going to be a problem for you… before long.” King Frederick dismissed my comment, “Well I captured you, so now you are mine.” Xander’s fury would’ve knocked me over if I’d been standing.

A remix of our planned song began to play in the room. It was my signal… to start the chaos from the inside. I turned my watch over in my hand. I turned the dial and began to laser through my cuffs. King Frederick hissed, “What is going on? Why are my people playing this song?”

I told him, “Gosh… I just have so many things to say to that. I’ll start with you didn’t capture me. I let you take me…. there’s a difference. Also, your people had nothing to do with the song. Mine did.” Before anyone could move, I jumped from the chair and turned it on the side.

I snapped the leg off and shoved it into King Frederick’s chest. The man actually looked at me in shock.

I pointed out, “Having people in chairs that can kill you is a serious error in judgment. Your reign is over.” I pulled the wooden stake out of him and King Frederick turned to goo. Then all hell broke loose.

My people on the inside began fighting. Moses was fighting several Vampires coming towards me. I quickly lasered Patrick out of his chair. My friend’s brother yelled, “Look out!” I turned, unafraid considering I knew who it was.

I instructed, “Ashlon, get Patrick outside.” Ashlon agreed, “As you command, Melanie.” Patrick gaped at me then asked, “You have partial Vampires on your side?!” I said, “Look around the room, Patrick. I have pets, Vampires, and partial Vampires on my side.”

Patrick’s eyes now held hope. He whispered, “I’ll get outside.” Ashlon hauled him up over her shoulder. She handed me a gun and sped away. I looked around the room and saw that Slade was leaving. NO! I shot him in the lung, just as he had me.

Slade went down but was being dragged away. Someone yelled, “Follow our protocol! Someone get to the detonator.” Oh good… they were going to blow everything up. Slade was being hauled off by another Hunter while I made a face.

I had to get him… but I couldn’t. Freya asked, “What are you doing?” I clenched my jaw knowing Slade was going to get away because I had something else to do. Kingsley… was more important than vengeance… and she needed Ormr.

I turned and ran for the fireplace. Kingsley yelled, “Melanie, what the hell are you doing?!” It wasn’t a secret I wanted Slade. Everyone knew it… and that if he was ever there, I’d get him… but Kingsley’s needs trumped that. I was just going to keep repeating that to myself.

I’d tell myself that every single time I acknowledged Slade was out there… I was doing what was right. This was for my friend. I yelled, “Everyone get to the exits! Get out of here as soon as you can.” I shot people in my way until I was out of bullets.

I made it to the fireplace, grabbed the mantle, and swung myself on top of it. Someone laughed, “That weapon is useless!” In my hands, yes… but it wasn’t for me. I grabbed it which burned my hand. That would make sense… that a Dragon would burn a non-Dragon.

Someone laughed again as I yanked on the display, ignoring the pain I felt. My hand was bleeding, but I was getting this sword. I managed to yank it free but had use enough force I ended up falling off the mantle.

I turned and yelled, “K!” My friend turned toward me as I threw her the sword. I watched in awe as Kingsley caught it. The second it touched her skin the blade came out. An orange glow came from the red jewel on the hilt of the sword.

A flaming Dragon emerged opposite of the blade while Kingsley stared at the weapon. Heck…. everyone did. Someone went to attack Kingsley while she wasn’t looking, but the flaming Dragon consumed them with fire.

Kingsley shook herself and began to fight. Freya told me, “I’m a goddess, and I just have to say that was AWESOME!” I grabbed a broadsword off the ground. I yelled, “EVERYONE GET OUT!” Moses grabbed Kingsley around the waist.

My friend screamed, “MEL, COME ON!” I went the opposite way of the group. I was going to go after Slade and see if I could catch him. Freya snarled in my head, “He does deserve some of our justice.” I knew that… and it’s all I’d wanted since that night I was kidnapped.

I followed the trail of blood through the house since I could smell it was his. They were going up toward the roof. But… why? Someone was going to blow up the house. Why would you go to the roof? I growled, “They have a way to escape up there! It’s going to be a helicopter.”

I started picking up my pace and kicked open the door to the roof. Slade was being patched up in the helicopter, but he waved at me with a smirk. Two Hunters jumped out with swords. Freya urged, “Go.” I didn’t pause; I attacked them.

I cut them down quickly, but the helicopter was taking off. I ran to the edge of the building and jumped. I heard people screaming. Freya sighed, “I’m getting yelled at for this by a lot of wolves.” I grabbed the runner of the helicopter and hooked my leg over.

I felt Xander’s disbelief and annoyance… but he just had to understand. I needed to get Slade. The door opened and I pulled the person closest to me out. I didn’t even feel bad as they screamed, falling to the ground. I managed to get inside and tackled Slade.

The man who ruined my life gasped in pain when I shoved my fingers into his wound. I screamed, “YOU TOOK EVERYTHING FROM ME!” The helicopter was in the heat of the blast as the mansion blew up. Debris hit the propeller and we started to go down.

I felt Xander’s panic. I grabbed Slade and jumped out, hoping the pond on this side was deep. We crashed into the water and began to fight each other. Slade had his hands around my neck. I quickly dislocated his elbow.

I knew what needed to happen in an instant. I told my wolf, “Freya, take over and electrocute him! Let him see who we are before he dies.” Freya replied, “Happily. We need air, so there will be no dying in a pond. That is NOT acceptable.” I shifted.

Slade dropped his other hand in shock. Freya sent her electricity through the water. Slade screamed and thrashed, swallowing water. Freya bit his neck and ripped his throat out. Now, he was beyond dead. I shifted back and swam to the surface.

I took several big gulps of air and swam to the side. I smirked seeing all the allies outside the protected area with my people. They weren’t in yet, but they were close. The fight was going to begin. I had groups further back that wouldn’t need to out themselves.

I heard Hastein yell, “If you touch her, I’ll torture you for decades!” Kingsley! Freya said, “No one will harm Kayda.” I knew that because I wasn’t going to let them try. I found a sword on the ground. I pleaded with Freya, “Don’t get mad.”

Freya warned, “Don’t you dare climb that tree and jump around like a squirrel. Don’t you do it, Melanie!” I sighed and climbed the tree. Freya pouted, “I want to go for a VERY long run for this, with Oden. My human jumps around trees. We are a wolf. It’s just so wrong. UGH!”

I had to force myself not to laugh. I made it over to where my mate, and everyone else, was. Xander glanced up into the tree I was in. Ohhh he didn’t look happy. Freya replied, “Mate is not happy. Don’t worry we can make him happy later.”

I teased, “You have a one track mind.” Freya agreed, “Yes, I do. Get on my track please.” I couldn’t help but smile. I told her, “I’ll get on your track later.” Tristan linked, “You get down here right now!” I replied, “That’s the plan.” Tristan growled, “MY HEART IS NOT BEATING PROPERLY!”

I listened then said, “Yes, it is.” Tristan growled at me. Jeez. Dad linked, “If you EVER jump OFF A BUILDING EVER AGAIN, or jump OUT of a helicopter without proper equipment, I will have Jared charm you IN YOUR ROOM!”

I reasoned, “The helicopter was going to crash… so jumping out… into water, was the logical choice at the time.. since I was inside…and you know that.” Dad snarled.

Mom linked, “Melanie Jane, NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!” Jason linked, “Are you crazy?!” I answered, “So… I easily was… about Slade… so… that feels obvious.”
