Chapter 32 Colt

Chapter thirty-two

Colt

In January, we had the biggest snow yet.

With the snowmobiles and sleds we’d purchased, we were able to cart the omegas back and forth to satisfy their need to be together.

It was actually pretty cute the way they curled up in a group wherever they were.

Even if they were doing their own thing, they were together while doing it.

Since Bertram and Trey’s house had been destroyed by fire, Trey’s parents decided to put off their visit to see the new baby until they had their own place.

“Trey’s really bugged about it,” Ben told us one night after we’d settled into bed.

“What do you mean?” Angus asked, leaning up on his elbow to look down at Ben, who lay between us.

“After the visit from Kristopher and Jermaine Gatlin, and then the information Jackson’s dad got from the census, he’s been slowly realizing that the SOS’s theories are likely correct.

And that’s forced him to take a second look at his past and what he’s been told by his parents.

He doesn’t know if they are ignorant of what is going on or if they hid it from him.

He wants to see their faces when he brings up what people are saying so he can decide for himself. ”

“I would assume a lot of people in the government are ignorant of it. I’m sure they’re told that top secrecy is paramount to maintain the safety of the omegas who are being taken care of until they can be placed with alphas.

That would explain no one knowing where the omega house was, names, or any other details,” I surmised.

“That’s what I think, too,” Ben said.

“Makes sense,” Angus agreed, yawning.

“I can’t wait until spring. Bertram and Carter can start building their houses and David and I can get started on the garden. I’ll miss Trey and Jackson living with us, though. I’m so glad you came up with the idea of the snowmobiles, Angus.”

“I’m glad it solved the problem,” Angus said, dropping back down to his pillow.

“And riding on the sled is fun!” Ben added, grinning.

In the crib in the corner of the room, Lucy June made restless noises, and the three of us stopped talking, listening to see if she’d wake up and want to eat.

At four months, she was a little beauty with light brown curls and Angus’s eyes.

At birth, they’d been a murky color, but it soon became obvious they were headed for that beautiful blue, answering the question of which of us had sired her.

It didn’t matter to me. I was happy for Angus that he’d gotten the daughter he never had and knew the next baby could be mine. Not that we were trying for one, but the fertility of omegas promised us more.

As though he’d been thinking along the same lines, Ben whispered, “What if we have fourteen children, like Pleasant did?”

On the other side of him, Angus groaned. “Don’t say that. I’ll be happy with three or four.”

“I want five or six,” Ben said. “What about you, Colt?”

“Hmm…eight or nine.”

“What?” Angus lifted his head up again. When he saw I was kidding, he rolled his eyes and settled back down.

Ben giggled.

We’d recently heard that Silas Wilson had been granted an omega, just like his sister Adele had said he would be.

We hadn’t met the young man yet, but Ben and the others were chomping at the bit to do it.

I wondered if that omega would have any information for us that might help our cause to end whatever it was the government was doing to omegas.

We were all in, now, but we’d have to be careful. The government knew we were on to them.

As I lay listening to the even breathing of the three people I loved most in the world, my mind turned to days ahead.

Spring and summer, spending time outside, watching the calves we were keeping grow, and taking care of all the animals on the ranch; figuring out how we want to use the new land; taking Ben and Lucy June to the river and teaching them both to swim.

Well, maybe not Lucy June yet—she could wear floaties; nights of slow lovemaking and then hard fucking when Ben was in heat; the companionship of my mates and the friendships we’d built.

I was looking forward to all of it because of the two men lying beside me and the little girl sleeping in the crib.

The End.
