Chapter 32- Closing The Trap
The moment Emily attacked, the forest exploded into motion.
Marcus moved fast.
Faster than most wolves Emily had fought.
But she was faster now.
Her silver wolf struck him hard enough to send both of them crashing across the dirt road. Marcus twisted mid-fall, shifting fully into his massive dark wolf form before they hit the ground.
The impact shook the trees.
Claws flashed.
Teeth snapped.
The fight between them was brutal and immediate.
Marcus lunged toward her throat.
Emily twisted aside.
Silver claws ripped across his shoulder.
Marcus snarled.
The sound was almost delighted.
"Yes," he growled.
"That power belongs with Bloodfang."
Emily slashed again.
Marcus barely avoided the strike.
Behind them, the escort wolves were still fighting Bloodfang's first wave.
But suddenly-
A horn sounded.
From the ridge.
Marcus froze.
Emily felt the shift instantly.
The trap had sprung.
Blackridge wolves burst from the eastern tree line.
Moonfall archers rose from the rocks above the road.
Arrows rained down.
Bloodfang wolves fell instantly.
Marcus spun toward the ridge.
His expression darkened.
"You planned this."
Emily shifted back to human form.
"Yes."
Marcus's gaze snapped back to her.
"You baited me."
Emily crossed her arms.
"You walked right in."
A low growl rolled through the forest.
Then Jay stepped from the trees.
Marcus's eyes narrowed.
"So the Alpha finally arrives."
Jay didn't answer.
Behind him, Blackridge warriors closed the eastern path.
Moonfall wolves blocked the west.
Bloodfang's retreat routes vanished in seconds.
Marcus realized it.
Emily saw the exact moment his confidence shifted into calculation.
"You've been busy," he said calmly.
Jay's voice was ice.
"You threatened my mate."
Marcus smirked.
"That's the problem with claiming powerful things."
Jay stepped forward.
"You don't get to say her name."
Marcus laughed.
"You think this ends tonight?"
Jay's eyes burned gold.
"Yes."
The air between them turned electric.
Emily felt her wolf stir again.
This was it.
The final confrontation.
Marcus glanced around the trap closing around him.
Then smiled slowly.
"Good."
His wolves growled behind him.
Jay shifted.
The massive black wolf stepped forward.
Marcus shifted as well.
Two Alphas.
One battlefield.
Emily felt the war narrowing to this moment.
Marcus's voice echoed across the clearing.
"Let's finish it."
And the final battle began.
