Chapter Eight
Harshal
I’m currently tied up in the back seat of the car.
I have been like this since my second attempt of running away to freedom.
The girl with the colorful hair, Neon, which I learn her real name is Frani is a fast young woman and smart too.
She was the one who caught me on my second escape attempt.
We’ve been on the road for about two hours now and Fritzi had to use the restroom so we’re at a rest stop at the moment and I am in the car all by myself.
My eyes are closed when the door suddenly opens and Wraith’s head pops in.
“Do you need to use the restroom?” he asks.
I just stare at him.
“Are you going to take me there and help me pee daddy?” I ask sarcastically.
Part of me expects him to come with me to the bathroom to watch me while another part of me wishes he would let me use the bathroom in peace like the twenty-five-year-old I am.
He grunts in response, his eyes never leaving mine, his pupils slightly getting big.
Fuck, it was me sarcastically calling him “daddy” that probably turned him on.
It’s surprising, a big muscular, scary, tattooed man like him is interested in guys, usually these type of guys like women and only women.
I haven’t seen all his tattoos but I’m sure he has some all over his body that sexily compliments the muscular build he has.
“So do you or do you not?” he asks, his voice demanding.
Sighing I roll my eyes.
“Yes, I have to pee.” I respond.
He enters the car and sets me free from my restraints.
“No funny business alright?” he says.
“We’re in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of the night, where the hell am I going to run to?” I ask.
“Bathroom and back here, understood?”
“Yes sir.” I say rolling my eyes.
His fingers wrap around my throat and he squeezes.
“Stop with the sarcastic remarks because I can have you on your knees sucking and worshipping my dick, making me feel like your daddy and having you call me ‘sir’.” He snarls. “Right. Fucking. Here. Do not. Test. Me.”
I want to say “yes sir” but if I’m being quite honest, I’m a bit scared to find out what will happen after the threat he just announced.
“Okay.” I rasp out.
Seconds later his hand leaves my throat and I swallow past the lump in my it before we both exit the car.
Wraith closes the door and walks me inside the rest stop, all the way to the bathroom.
I do my business and when I come out Wraith is standing in front of a sink, watching me through the mirror.
I wash my hands and we leave the restroom.
I see a bag of Gummy Worms and pick them up. I toss them to him.
“Get them for me.” I demand.
“Anything else?” He asks.
Oh. I was expecting him to argue but he didn’t.
I look around and spot the drinking fountains.
A man stands there getting himself a drink so I make my way over there, grabbing an empty cup and begin to fill it with a blueberry flavored slushie.
The man looks at Wraith and I before growling at me and walking away.
I examine him a little and something catches my eye.
He has a gun tucked in the back of his pants and on the back of his shirt is a “g” symbol.
My blood runs cold. Wraith must’ve noticed the same thing because he steps to the side of me and whispers,
“Stay calm, let’s go.”
I nod. Leaving the cup half-filled we walk over to the empty register.
“Where’s the cas—”
“Shit!” Wraith curses.
A gun cocks and I turn to look at the man we saw by the drinking fountains. His gun is now aimed towards me, pointing specifically between my eyes.
“My boss wants your head hanging on his office wall.” He says.
I try not to shiver as I hear another gun cock.
Looking back at Wraith he’s armed and ready to fire and I’m in the crossfire.
I look behind the counter and see blood.
Leaning back I see the cashier on the floor.
.. dead. Her neck gashed wide open and it looks so inhuman.
The guy must’ve did it so he won’t have witnesses to him killing me. .. or attempting to anyways.
“Over my dead damn body.” Wraith said.
“The boy is a wanted man in my world.”
“Well unfortunately the world we live in doesn’t comply to yours.” Wraith says.
He hands me the bag of candy and adds,
“Wait out in the car.”
“He’s not going anywhere but with me.”
Wraith chuckles.
“Move Grey Eyes.”
I’m frozen and don’t know what to do. I’m afraid if I move the guy will shoot me and if I don’t move it’ll only anger Wraith. Taking a step I jump when the guy shouts,
“Take another step, I’ll shoot you!”
Pow!
I duck and look at Wraith and see that his gun is still smoking while my ears ring for a moment.
The other guy is on the ground... dead, with a hole right between his eyes.
I just stare at him in disbelief. Wraith grabs my wrist and pulls me with him out the building.
We enter the car and to my surprise he doesn’t tie me back up.
He just reaches over me and puts my seatbelt on for me before jumping in the front passenger seat.
“Wrath, we heard a gunshot is everything okay?” Frani asks.
“No, Harshal is now a target for one of the Mexican gangs.” He replies.
“Great we have the Mexican mafia and a Mexican gang after us!” Frani exclaims.
“It’ll be fine, we can hold our own.” Wraith said.
“Yes but I’d recommend holding what I have to not what I have to along with other bullshit on top of that!” she says.
“I tried running away but you guys caught me so...” I shrug.
Wraith quickly turns in his chair to glare at me and I shrink in my seat, choosing to look out the window.
“How the fuck did you get the attention of a Mexican gang?” Fritzi asks me.
“He was helping out someone they were after and got in one of the members way.” Wraith responds for me. “I dealt with the guy but they probably saw him in the malls security footage.”
“Shit!” Fritzi says.
“We need to move now.” Wraith tells his father who sits in the drivers seat.
He nods and brings the engine to life, driving us out of the place and back onto the road to Vegas.
“Is that why you brought him with us?” Fritzi asks.
Wraith just gives a curt nod.
Frani looks at me and says,
“You did the right thing, little bro.”
Wraith flips her off while she smiles. Meanwhile, I’m sitting quietly in my seat wondering how fast one’s life can tilt on its axis.
Three days ago my life was going as normal as a college students life can be and now it’s like a dark hole has opened up and swallowed me whole with no plans of letting me go.
For the rest of the car ride to Vegas I decided to go to sleep which is why I’m woken up by the feeling of being carried. Cracking open one eye all I see is grey fabric. Looking up I see Wraiths focused face as he carries me down a hallway.
“What are you doing?” I ask.
“Taking you to our room.” He responds.
My brain short circuits and decides to focus on one word. Our. Our as in me and him... as if we’re together.
“Our?” I ask.
He nods.
“Why can’t I get my own room?” I ask.
“Because the hotel is already packed and we had to deal with what we had to deal with.” He responds.
I groan.
“Can’t I room with Frani?” I ask.
“No because she’s rooming with Halah.” Wraith says as if it’s as simple as that.
“Well, I’m up now, you can put me down.” I state.
At first, I didn’t think he would but to my surprise he stops in the middle of the hallway and places me on my feet. Moving past me he walks to one of the room doors and opens it with the key.
“Don’t I get a key?” I ask.
He ignores me and moves into the room. Closing my eyes I’m hoping there’s not just one bed because I will just simply sleep on the fucking floor. Entering the room I release my breath, something I hadn’t noticed I was doing until now. There are two beds, a TV, desk, AC unit, and a single bathroom.
“Your bed is closest to the window.” Wraith says, taking off the backpack he has on.
“Where’s my stuff?” I ask as I walk to my assigned bed.
“Still in the car, I’ll go get it once I’ve established some rules.” He says in a matter-of-factly manner.
I turn to face him.
“Rules?” I ask.
I scoff.
“I’m twenty-five, I don’t need rules from someone like you let alone anyone else.” I argue.
“You do when you’re with me.” he says.
I get into his face.
“Says who?” I ask.
He snarls in my face, his body overshadowing mine.
“I fucking say so and what I say goes, under-fucking-stood!”
I snort and look him up and down.
“We’ll see.”
He ignores that remark and continues with laying down the rules, like I’m going to follow them.
“You are not to leave this hotel building without my presence, if you go down to the lobby you are to tell me, and if need be, follow my every direction when an outburst happens.” He says.
“I’m not your fucking Prince Charming you can keep locked up in a castle.” I say.
“Prince Charming’s are overrated and outdated.” He says. “If you’d be anything of the sort to me you’d my Grey Angel, Grey Eyes.”
I just stare at him. Why grey? Is there a such thing as a grey angel? And what’s with this man and the color grey, it’s like he married it or something. Most bikers wear black but he wears grey. Also, I’m not his but I don’t say that.
“Well, it’s good I’m not that important to you.” I cross my arms over my chest.
“You don’t know what the future holds.” He says.
“I do, me far away from you when we get back to Arizona.” I said, turning to go sit on my bed. “Oh and when you get my stuff make sure you stay on your side of the room, I don’t want mine to feel all... morally grey.”
I then plop down on the bed, my arms still crossed as I stare out at the strip. The lights dancing into the night air like an angry flames of an LED fire. I can feel Wraiths eyes burn holes in the back of my head the entire time and a moment later I hear him huff and exit the room.
