CHAPTER FOUR #2
Kael explained the meaning and importance of a chosen and how Fate intervenes to give vampires and other paranormal beings a partner for life.
They are determined by Fate, and the couples come together when they are needed most. Elias asked a few questions, nothing too deep, but he was building an understanding, and that was all Kael could ask for right now. He was trying.
“I noticed you a few days ago in the lobby. I didn’t know who you were, but your presence caught my attention. I thought about you often after that, and I couldn’t understand why. You’re handsome, of course, and you looked steady, confident, and intelligent, but there was more.
There was something that kept calling me and pulling me to find you. But then the chaos occurred, and you found me, and the attraction I felt skyrocketed.” He gave a shy smile, and Kael pulled him in for an embrace. They were slowly getting onto the same page.
He needed more, and Elias’ admitting that he found him attractive was all he needed to make the next move. The embrace was warm and loving, energizing him in a way that soothed every part of him. This was what he’d waited a lifetime to experience, and nobody was going to take it away from him.
Life had been good, his job fulfilling, and he felt a strong sense of kinship and belonging at the Crimson Coven.
A few days ago, he would have said there was nothing more he needed.
But now, having met his chosen, he knew that his life was only half lived, and his experiences were shallow.
This was truth in full color, and he was never going to let it go.
The intensity of the feelings rushing through him was dizzying and so wonderful. The bond and the need started with a gentle wash of awareness and gradually grew into a flood of emotion and desire. There was nothing he wouldn’t do to ensure Elias’ health and safety.
“I feel the same.” Kael finally spoke and slowly pulled back to look down into Elias’ upturned face.
“The paranormal world wants you dead, but if we can ensure that the experiments are over, that your tests and research have ended, and all evidence of such has been destroyed, they will step back. The fact that you are my chosen and you bond with me will force them to call off their attacks.”
“How do we bond?” Elias asked while licking his lips. The act sent a delightful chill across Kael’s heated flesh.
“Are you prepared for the bond? It will tie you to me for all eternity. There’s no undoing it; we become as one in heart and mind.
” Kael didn’t intend to become so maudlin; it just came out that way and made sense.
There was so much more to say, but no time to say it, so he was going with instinct and feelings and letting Fate take control.
“I’m open to the experience, and I’m excited to see where it takes us.
” A soft smile touched his lips and lingered.
“Forever is a very long time for you to be tied to a mere human.” The smile turned teasing, and Kael was enjoying the banter.
The way his heart was reaching for this fragile human was surprising him, and so much warmth and love were taking root.
Fortunately, that feeling was exclusive to Elias; his heart and his emotions remained detached and cold with every other being.
His skill set and occupation required distance.
Over the years, he’d cultivated a level of indifferent detachment that had blocked out most of what the world had to offer in terms of emotions.
These new warm and soft feelings he had for this unlikely man were foreign but pleasing.
The more he knew of Dr. Elias Vance, the more he wanted to know.
“I’m ready if you are, sweetheart.” Kael grabbed him by the shirt collar and jerked him forward for a hard, exacting kiss that caught him completely by surprise.
Kael took his time ravaging the doctor’s supple lips and exploring his warm, moist mouth.
The taste was out of this world and solidified their connection.
He pulled back when Elias began struggling for breath.
“Wow.” That was all Elias said as he took a few deep breaths.
Kael stood and pulled Elias to his feet.
The shock on his face came and went fast. It was replaced by eagerness that looked delicious.
He wasn’t going to overthink this. Elias was his chosen, and their lives were going to be intense, excessive, and perfect because Fate always delivered.
He wrapped his arm around Elias’s middle and half walked and half carried him to the main bedroom.
It was fully stocked and provided everything one could hope for, including large, plush bed pillows.
He picked up Elias and tossed him onto the bed.
“Strip, baby.” He said in a tone that did not invite questions.
“Yes, sir,” Elias said with that same whisper of a smile and started stripping down.
Kael found the lube and tossed it on the bed, and then he too started to disrobe.
The minute he pulled his shirt off over his head, baring his chest, he noticed the hunger spring forth in Elias’ eyes.
Kael was not the only one fiercely affected by this growing bond and the need to seal the deal.
Elias paused, as if he was going to comment, but then got back to removing his clothes.
The look was well appreciated, and Kael slowed a bit, taking his time as he removed his pants.
Elias was quickly down to his tight black briefs, and he was still resting on his knees as his eyes traveled Kael’s body. The want was palatable.
He dropped his pants to the floor and stepped toward the bed, his cock hard and leaking, aching to get inside Elias’ tight, hot body. Elias licked his lips again, and that shiver passed over Kael. He knew how to push Kael’s buttons, and he wasn’t even trying.
Elias removed his briefs without ever taking his eyes off Kael.
He tossed them to the floor, where they joined the rest of his clothing, and he stayed on his knees, spreading his thighs apart and slowly letting his hand slide down the length of his hard cock.
He was playing a dangerous game, one that Kael would win.
