Chapter 15
We lay naked, legs tangled, my head on his chest and I listen to his steady heartbeat.
“I’m going to Vegas,” my voice hazily skates through the room like a blade to ice.
“Are you?” he cranes his neck, lifting his head from the pillow but I don’t look up at him.
“Mmhm,” I hum, my fingers grazing across his dusting of chest hair.
“With?” his tone is cold for just a moment, and I smile.
“Dex and Sage; they want me to go look at a potential new club with them.”
“I see,” his fingertips dance up and down my spine.
“They said I can bring a plus one…”
“Lucy?”
“No,” I breathe.
“No?” he repeats, and I can hear the surprise in his tone.
Lifting my head, I turn my face towards him. His green eyes settle on mine, they’re soft and sleepy and I decide in this moment that this, right here, is my favorite. How his eyes are now, will always and forever be my favorite. As if they’re holding my most precious secrets and memories, locked away behind the windows of his soul and I am the only one that can access them. Treasured and kept.
“I was wondering if you wanted to come with? I know it’s an ask, what with work and my dad and I don’t expect anything to happen between us but…”
“When do we leave?” he smiles at me and my heart thumps in my chest, leaping and pirouetting inside its butterfly cage.
“So that’s a yes then?”
He cups my cheek in his hand, his thumb brushing against my cheek.
“It’s a yes baby.”
Walking into the office, I have a little spring in my step.
Maybe it’s because I fucked my best friend’s daughter senseless and made her see the moon, the stars and the galaxies. Or maybe it’s because she gave me a goodbye blowjob.
But, sadly, we have agreed that this morning was most definitely the last time. We’ve crossed so many lines, they’ve rolled into a sphere. A big, fucking sphere.
“Goooood morning,” I sing as I dump my briefcase on my desk.
“Fuck, someone is in a good mood,” Titus leans back in his chair and lifts a brow.
Because I fucked your daughter.
Little out of line. Even for my thoughts. Not anymore though.
No more fucking the forbidden fruit.
We both agreed.
I mean, I was hesitant… but she is right.
Crying shame. Pussy was insane.
100/10.
Would say I recommend it, but I won’t. Because then I’ll get jealous, and I can’t afford to get jealous.
“I am in a very good mood,” I turn my computer on and wait for Titus to appear at my doorway.
“And why is that?” he asks, leaning against my doorframe.
“Slept well, just chipper.” I shrug my shoulders and I fight the smile that is trying to present itself.
“You got laid, didn’t you?” he goads, stepping over the threshold of my office and I roll my eyes.
“A gentleman never tells,” I scoff, sitting at my desk and resting my elbows on the surface.
“Gentleman!?” Titus roars a laugh, shaking his head from side to side. “Keaton, you don’t even know the meaning of the word,” he scoffs and for some reason, it pisses me the fuck off.
Blood boiling. Heart beating hard in the depths of my chest.
Narrowing my cold and intense stare on him, he curls a brow.
“Struck a nerve?”
“Never,” a sly smirk pulls at my lips.
“Whatever you say bro,” he laughs once more and walks away.
“Prick,” I rumble under my breath as I wake my computer up and open my diary. I flick over the dates that Ari told me about and block them out.
I just need to think of a reason why I am out the office. Can’t say I am going to Vegas with Arizona.
Fuck them. They don’t need to know.
I’ll take sick leave. Just need to get through this week and I’ll be in Vegas with her.
Just me and her.
As friends, of course, just friends.
But still, away from all of it here.
Next week can’t come any sooner.
