Chapter 19

Walking the casino floor,Keaton’s fingers lace through mine in total obliviousness of our surroundings. In this moment, it’s just me and him. Dex and Sage are at one of the card tables, and after Keaton’s small win on craps, we took that victory to the bar.

I lean against him as he steps towards the bar, resting his arm on the high gloss countertop.

I am happy. Blissfully.

“What can I get you?” the smartly dressed barman asks, leaning across.

“An old fashioned and a…” he pauses for a moment and turns to face me.

“Vodka soda,” I nod and I see the barman eye me.

“You got ID?”

I nod, fumbling in my bag and handing it to him. His eyes flick up then back down again before he passes me my card back.

“Coming right up,” he says as Keaton slips him our room card.

I turn, looking out at all the different kinds of people that walk through the casino, but two people I definitely didn’t expect to see here are Killian and Reese.

“Keaton,” I whisper, tapping him on the top of his arm.

“Yeah baby?” he slurs; he is tipsy. Cute AF, but not when we’re about to get caught.

“Killian and Reese,” I hiss but it’s too late.

They’ve clocked us.

“Oh shit,” Keaton growls, but then explodes into laughter as he willingly walks over to Killian and shakes his hand.

“Arizona,” Reese beams, wrapping her arms around me.

“Reese,” I smile back at her as we pull away from each other.

“What brings you and Keaton to Vegas?”

I look over at Keaton, searching his face for an answer.

“A wedding,” Keaton’s lips turn down, his head bobbing.

“Of our friends, yeah, an old friend of mine,” I interrupt.

Damn Keaton being drunk.

“Why are you here?” I ask, grinning wide as I pray that Sage and Dex don’t come up and blow it.

“We fancied a few nights away and thought why not come back to where it all started,” her hand rests on Killian’s chest, looking up at her husband and smiling.

“That’s lovely. Okay well look, we don’t want to crash your romantic getaway, come on big fella, let’s get you up to the room,” I shove into Keaton trying to barge him, but Killian stops me.

“Why did you bring Keaton with you?” His brows pinch and I know he is trying to catch me out.

Not today Killian.

“Why not? I needed a plus one so I dragged him along.”

“I see,” Killian rubs his stubble and Reese rolls her eyes.

“Stop playing detective old man,” she swats at his arm and a giggle bubbles out of me.

“Look, why don’t we get dinner with you and our friends tomorrow night? How does that work?” I blurt out before I have even had a moment to register, but at least I have time to give Sage and Dex the low down.

“Sounds perfect, text me with the reservations yeah?”

“Of course, yeah,” I smile at her and Keaton is just chuckling to himself beside me. Fucking idiot.

Killian leads Reese away and once they’re out of sight I breathe out a sigh of relief.

“I need a drink, come on giggles, let’s get drunk. Fuck it.”
