4. Nisa, is that you?

CHAPTER 4

NISA, IS THAT YOU?

Leo

A strong hand pushes at me. Someone is trying to get me to let Nisa go. When I look up, I see it's the paramedic.

"Sir, you've got to let me get to her. Please move." The man is all business. I can appreciate that. He knows what needs to happen, and he's doing it.

"Leo, come on." Doc grabs the still unconscious Nisa from my grasp and lays her on the ground softly. I back away just as the paramedic slides in to check her over.

"Fuck, what was she doing here? I thought you told her she wasn't allowed?" Tella says from behind me.

"No shit, Tella! Obviously, she didn't fucking listen." I clench my jaw and look around the crowd of my brothers. "Everyone that needs to see the medics, do it, everyone else we got fucking church." I push my way through the bunch of them and walk into the clubhouse.

I groan when the first person I see snooping around my space is Sheriff Bobbins, the prick has it out for us. Usually, we keep our shit quiet, and he never has enough information or evidence to fuck with us. An explosion is just the type of incident that could give him enough to take one of us down. I watch him order the rest of the police force he has to bag up any suspicious items.

Spike tries to walk by to get ready for the meeting, but I grab his arm and pull him back.

"What's up?" Spike's eyebrows cinch in.

"You go to the medic," I tell him and point back over my shoulder.

As my VP, Spike should be at every meeting, but I think he'll have to miss this one.

"What, nah man, I'm good. I don't need them." Spike shakes his head and tries to pull away.

"Brother, you were just buried under a slab of fucking concrete. You need the medic."

"Leo, I swear-"

"It's a fucking order, Spike. Don't fucking argue. Just get your ass back there and get checked out. If they tell you to go to the hospital, you hop your knuckle-headed ass in that ambulance and go."

"I need you at your best, just get the all-clear and get back here." he sighs out in defeat. I know he wants to get to the bottom of this as bad as I do, but I can't risk him being hurt. I have a feeling we're about to go through some shit where I'm going to need all hands on deck. I clap him on the shoulder, and he turns to walk back toward the paramedics.

I watch the Sheriff for a few more seconds as he goes through the mess that is my clubhouse, probably looking for more than just what caused the explosion. For me to get to church, I'd have to walk right by him. Maybe he won't see me. I don't have time to deal with him right now.

"Leo, how are you feeling today? It seems you've had a bit of an accident?" The sarcastic ass steps into my face stopping me from getting to the back area where church is.

My chest constricts as a fresh wave of anger washes over me. I watch from the corner of my eye the paramedics roll Nisa out the clubhouse. She's still unconscious. I feel helpless. It's not a fucking emotion I want to sit with. I need to get to the bottom of this, and motherfucking Sheriff Bobbins is in my way.

"Sheriff, I really don't have the time to play these fucking games with you today. Do you need something from me?" I ask.

"Oh, hold on here. I'm not playing any games. You and you're little group of misfits run around my town like you own the place, and as long as you were killing each other, I really didn't care, but now you're messing with my people. Now it's my town folk that are being affected. I'm not letting this shit slide. Whatever the hell you bastards have going on in here, you're going down. I'm telling you now that I'm going to be on you like flies on shit. If you breathe wrong, I'm going to lock your ass under the jail."

I lock my fists against my sides. I want to swing on him so damn bad right now, but I can't afford to go to the clink. Not when I have this shit to take care of. "Are you out of your mind? Do you think I had anything to do with this shit? I'm part of this fucking town. My mother and sister are part of this town. My brothers were here when that shit went off. I don't have shit to do with this. If you want to arrest someone, find out who the fuck did this to my family." I snarl down at him, and the snarky smile on his face tapers away.

"You're going to need to come down to the station and give your statement." Sheriff takes a step back and straightens his back. Now the fucker is trying to be professional.

"Yeah, well, if you haven't noticed, there's a lot that I have to do here, so unless you're going to haul me off right now, I'll have to do that another time." I glare, daring him to say another word to me. When he turns to walk away, I rush over to the large sliding door of the church. Everyone who sits at the table and is not hurt is standing there waiting for me.

I take my seat at the head of the table and wait for everyone else to do the same.

There are two chairs empty, Spike and Creek. Spike was under that mess, so I expected him to have to go to the hospital, but where the fuck was Creek.

"Creek?" I look over at Rumble. As the Sergeant at Arms, he's the one that is supposed to make sure that when I call for church, everyone shows the fuck up.

"He has something going on with his head. The medics said he needed x-rays and shit." Rumble reports.

"Shit, okay." I run my fingers through my hair and lean forward. "Someone needs to tell me what the fuck happened. I need answers. Was this one of the guests? An accident? Someone attacking us? I need to know who the fuck I have to kill." I rake my eyes across the members at the table.

Nothing.

Not a peep from anyone.

"What the fuck!" I jump out of my chair, and it scrapes loudly across the ground. "How the fuck does something like this happen, and no one see shit?"

Lash clears his throat, "I didn't see anything, but from the blast pattern, I would think the bomb was set off from the outside," he speaks up.

If there's anyone who'd know about this shit, it's Lash. "Fine, who was outside?"

"Spike, Saint, Creek, and Zero." Rumble looks down, "Nisa was out there as well."

I close my eyes, and a still image of her blood-soaked hair pops into my mind. I should've made fucking sure she left. "Has anyone called her mother yet?"

"No, I'll do it." Rumble offers.

"Alright, who is still here that was outside?" I push all my feelings about what happened to Nisa out of my mind. I need to focus.

"Zero, I think. Everyone else is at the hospital. Saint had to go too." Tella says.

I reach for my chair and fall into it. I know I should be grateful that none of my brothers died. This shit could've been a lot worse.

"Get Zero in here." If I didn't get anything from him, I'd have to try and track down some of the guests. The only fucking problem with that is there are no god damn lists, no sign-in sheet for who the fuck was here. We'd literally have to go around town and try to remember who was here tonight to ask them anything. That's a fucking headache I don't want.

Lash quickly goes out and gets Zero. He's dirty but doesn't look injured in any way.

"You seem like you came out unscathed." I eye him carefully.

"Yeah, I was standing farther away cause I was smoking a bogey. You know Spike is trying to quit; I didn't want him to be mad." Zero is a prospect for us, and I'd patch him over today if his trial period were over. He's a good kid. We call him Zero because he's a fucking whiz at all that computer shit. He used to build websites and do coding work. It all looks like a bunch of gibberish to me whenever I see him work, but then again, I've never needed to learn that shit.

"Did you see who did this?"

"No, I didn't see." He looks away for a quick second. He hesitates slightly before he opens his mouth again. He shakes his head before closing his mouth, not saying another word.

"Zero, don't fuck around." I'm harsher than I need to be, but people could've died. If he has information, I want every drop of it. "You've got more to say, spit it out."

"Look, I know you're going to be upset about it because I know there's history with her." My stomach drops when I catch on to what he's saying. Whatever he knows has something to do with Nisa. Zero stares at me for a second, "Right before everything went to shit, Nisa was outside talking to one of the guests, but it wasn't a happy conversation from what I could see. Spike and the rest of them were on the other side of the patio ." Zero sighs heavily and continues, "She was crying and saying what looked like 'please don't.' I figured he was breaking up with her or something, you know, none of my business. I see the dude walk away, and it looked like she was going back into the clubhouse. I don't know what she saw or why she stopped, but she turned toward the guy like she was going to call him, and then boom."

Everyone in the room turns to look at me as Zero continues, "I don't know if whoever she was with did it, but If there's anyone who knows what happened, it's her."

This shit can't be fucking happening.

I drag a hand over my face. I don't want to believe Nisa has anything to do with this, but it'd make sense.

Her brother died riding with us. I guess she was due some revenge.
