33. Beck

CHAPTER 33

Beck

“Be good for Mrs. Corbett,” I whispered to Alice as I squeezed her tight.

“I know, Daddy,” my daughter said on a laugh before wiggling out of my grip. “Don’t forget to tell Luna she looks pretty.”

Gotta love getting dating tips from my seven-year-old.

Alice sprinted down the hall to her room where her dinosaurs were battling it out with her Barbies while her new dog watched on. I dared to drag her away to give her kisses and make sure she had what she needed before heading out to the gala. While I knew her nanny had things covered, it was a rare occasion that had me going out when I could be tucking her in.

I adjusted the sleeves of my tux in the hallway mirror, gave one last goodbye, and exited the townhouse, just as my driver opened the door to the limo parked out front.

The driver tipped his hat, and I gestured to the building next door. “Let me just get my date.”

I fidgeted as I stood on her stoop, waiting to be let in.

“You’re early,” said a disembodied voice from the intercom.

I glanced at my watch. “A minute early, tops.”

“You’re rushing me.”

“Luna—”

“Beck.”

I leaned in closer so that the camera could capture my expression. “I’d rather not get into it on your stoop while people walk by with their poodles and my driver stares at me like I’ve lost my mind.”

I caught a hint of laughter before the line went quiet.

The front door cracked open, and I entered Luna’s house only to catch the laughter in full force.

I stopped in my tracks. There, in the middle of her entryway, stood Luna in all her glory. A delicate emerald dress poured over her curves, her hair pulled up into an elaborate updo that must have taken hours by a professional to achieve.

A smokey eye and a red lip; it made me want to crawl on my knees and worship her.

My long strides swallowed the space separating us. I slid my hands to her waist and my lips found hers. She kissed me back with abandon before eventually pulling back.

“If you fucked up my lipstick, I’ll never forgive you,” she chided as she palmed my freshly shaven cheek. “I like you better with a little scruff.”

I chuckled. “You really know how to make a guy feel special.”

Her words held little bite and if anything, from the expression on her face, my Luna wasn’t completely unimpressed with me. Her fingers went to my lapels, straightening them out of any invisible wrinkles that our kiss may have caused.

Then she drifted to the hallway mirror for a quick touch up.

Like a moth to flame, I trailed behind her, wanting to touch her in a million little ways. Our eyes collided in the mirror. Luna’s teeth sank into her bottom lip.

I grabbed her chin, and her breathing hitched. “We don’t want you ruining that lipstick, now do we?”

With our bodies this close, I wondered what it would be like if I were to just lift her dress and have my way with her while we stared into each other's eyes?

I pushed away from the side table. We weren’t about to find out. I cleared my throat. “My driver is out front.”

“Let me grab my purse.”

“I’ll get it.” I snagged it from the bottom stair before holding out my arm for her.

She slid in and her arm wrapped around mine. “What a gentleman.”

“Only sometimes.” My thoughts about the woman on my arm were anything but. Whenever I showered I gripped myself while thinking of her, replaying that blow job over and over like a movie imprinted on my brain.

I’d woken up this morning with my dick straining for release. I’d dreamed of her smell and her hair falling over her shoulders. I’d remembered our night together all those years ago and the brief kisses we’d shared since.

Fuck . I discreetly adjusted myself as I held the car door open for Luna.

She slid onto the leather seats. “How’s being a doggy daddy treating you?”

“For fuck’s sake, Marks. Don’t call me a doggy daddy.” Although it did seem to quell the rising desire that had been building between us as I slid into the car.

She toyed with my collar again as the driver took off. “But it’s funny.”

I crossed my leg at the knee. “Alice loves him.”

“I knew she would. It was practically love at first sight.” Just briefly, she looked wistfully out the window, and I wondered if she was thinking about Pepper.

I set a hand down on her silky thigh. “You would know all about that.”

Her eyes blazed as they found mine. “I think you have that the wrong way around.”

I brought her lips to mine, then whispered behind her ear. “Maybe I do.”

“Beck—”

“Luna—”

Before we could banter more, the limo lurched to a stop.

“Sorry, sir. Ma’am,” the driver said through the intercom. “We’ve arrived.”
