Chapter 13

Trevor

“Yes,” I groan as I erupt into my hand. As my breathing begins to return to normal, my eyes flutter open. Hell. Once again, I’ve started my morning imagining the sight of Addison squirming naked beneath me. Shaking my head, I look down and wince.

What the hell is wrong with me? Again?

I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve woken up with a hard-on that I should’ve ignored. Instead, I chose not to waste it, thinking about Addison’s mouth wrapped around my dick. Shit, I’m not going to be able to use it once I finally find a willing partner. I’ll be chafed.

Maybe I should bail on this birthday party of Addison’s. It’s getting more and more difficult to pretend I don’t want her. And it’s like she’s made it her mission to out me. As if the blue-eyed temptress knows exactly how thoughts of her have been torturing me, and she’s calling me on it.

Sassy little minx.

Do I have to get this girl a gift? I know what I’d like to give her.

Okay, Trev. Get your ass up and in the shower, and don’t think about her while you’re in there. As I turn on the water, I contemplate making a quick getaway to avoid this uncomfortable birthday celebration. Maybe I should make a quick impromptu visit home for the weekend to see Mom.

Stepping inside, I shake my head at my utter desperation. Yeah, focus on your sweet mother. Maybe that will keep your shower PG, you horny bastard.

Thirty minutes later, I’ve taken a cold shower, dressed, and made a pot of coffee. I need to get this day on track. Who the hell am I kidding? I know full well I’m going to that damn party. Just remember, she’s off-limits, numb nuts. You’re dating down. Only girls a seven or below.

And Addison’s clearly a twenty.

Buzz. Buzz.

Startled by the early morning interruption, I gaze down at my cell and notice Zach’s name and instantly perk up. Damn I’ve missed this guy.

“Hey, what a surprise.”

“How’s it going in mountain country?” Zach was a good friend the short time I knew him before moving. He’s a Hanover fire department veteran, and I was proud to be on his crew.

From what I knew of Zach, he seemed to be a kind of a loner, just him and his dog. He suffered a nasty divorce and didn’t divulge a lot of personal details. But he was a stand-up guy, and I knew I could count on him to have my back. “I was thinking of visiting one weekend. If it’s still open, I’d love to take you up on your offer to hit the lake.”

My face erupts in an ear-to-ear grin. “Of course. You and Otis are welcome anytime. I’m off the next two weekends. Get your ass down here.”

“Got it. I’ll look at my calendar. I think the weekend after next will work. Are you sure you’re good with the dog coming? He’s too old to get into any trouble.”

I chuckle. “I figured you and Otis were a package deal. It’s totally fine. Just let me know when. I hear the fishing is great here.”

“Perfect. Just reserve some nice weather. I hate fishing in the rain.”

I snicker but consider this good `ole boy has probably done it before. “Talk soon.” Hanging up the call, I take a sip of my coffee and realize I’ve inadvertently been scrolling for gifts for women on the internet while I was talking to Zach. I can’t remember the last time I bought anything for a girl.

Oh yeah, a ring. That’s what I bought.

“Hey, man. Glad you could make it,” Jason greets me from the bar as I walk into Pour Decisions.

I’m late arriving, playing will I or won’t I all afternoon. Looking around the place, it’s buzzing with people. Are all of these patrons here for Addison? It wouldn’t surprise me. Little Miss Sunshine seems like she’d be popular enough for the whole damn town to turn out.

“She’s not here yet,” Jason says.

Fuck . “Who?”

“Oh, come on, Trev. She’s hot as hell and has her eyes set on you. What’s wrong with you, man?”

Pulling up the stool beside him, I make eye contact with the bartender, who holds up an amber bottle in question. Another great thing about small towns. He’s already got my usual figured out. With a quick nod, I place my forearms on the countertop in front of me and drop my head when I recall Jason’s question. “I’m just not sure I want to risk it with another stunner like her. I fell hard and fast for the last one. I had a fucking ring, Jason. And she ripped my heart out. I’m worried if this one goes south, I’ll be so bitter I’ll never date again. I’ll have to stick with Tinder to get off. And I don’t think anyone who uses Tinder is within an hour of Sycamore Mountain.”

He brings his bottle to his lips and chuckles. “You’re probably right.”

“How do you do it? Where do you meet women here?”

He turns to face me, giving a quick nod and a wink to someone behind me in greeting. “Oh, once you’ve lived here long enough, you’ll meet more. But if I had someone like that barking up my tree…” He dips his head in the direction of the front door.

I follow Jason’s line of sight over my shoulder when my gaze instantly connects with sparkling, bright blue eyes. My breath catches and I have to forcefully push a breath into my lungs. Her long dark hair is down cascading about her shoulders, her cheeks are pink to match her pouty lips, and her deep blue V-neck dress clings to her gorgeous body like it was painted on. I can’t stop my eyes from traveling the length of her. Right down to the open-toed black stilettos she’s wearing. My dick twitches as I picture them wrapped around my shoulders. Well shit. This night isn’t starting off well. I’ve already lost control, and she’s barely got both feet in the door.

“There’s the birthday girl. Trying to make a grand entrance? I would’ve thought you’d have been here by now,” Jason teases as he pulls Addison in for a hug.

“Oh, I was actually. I came straight from work and filled up on Sam’s food. His barbecue is good, but a sticky mess. So I decided to run home to clean up and come back. Thought it might wake me up a little.”

“Another early day at the bakery?”

“Yeah, they all start that way. But I feel better now that I’ve had a shower.”

Fuck. Now that image is all I can picture.

“Oh, I got you something.” Jason stops to pull a gift bag up from beside him. “Hope you like it.”

“You didn’t have to do that.” She giggles as she pulls out the tissue paper concealing the gift and wraps her arms around his neck in appreciation after seeing the bracelet inside. “That’s so thoughtful, Jase. I’m putting it on as soon as I sit down.”

I watch as she walks away, headed for a corner table where Alden and Cece sit, awaiting her arrival. Wow. Other than the arousing conversation our eyes had when she walked in, I didn’t get a word in. Maybe she’s over whatever this game is she’s playing. I should be relieved, but I have to admit I feel more than a little jealous of Jason’s reception.

The two of us shoot the shit about nothing. He points out new arrivals to the bar he’s known for years, and I try to keep my attention on our conversation and my beer. I manage fairly well, given how many people are crammed in the place.

Almost an hour of sitting at this bar passes before I see Addison approach in the mirror’s reflection before me. I’ve just reached for a fresh beer when she asks the bartender for a margarita.

“What, no tequila shot tonight?” What the hell am I thinking asking her this? Do you remember what happened last time she ordered one of those?

Yet, that’s precisely why I’m asking, and I know it.

“Yeah, I think I’m getting drunk enough without adding that to the mix.” She giggles. Her hand suddenly trails from my shoulder down my arm. The current her touch evokes startles me. I silently lecture my cock to stand down, knowing the effect her proximity has on my body. “So, you don’t have anything for me?” She pouts.

Hell, I’ve got something for you, all right. “As a matter of fact, I do.”

I can’t help but return her grin when she beams at me in surprise. Reaching into my sports coat pocket, I retrieve the card I bought on the way here. It’s a generic birthday card. Nothing too funny or sentimental. Just packaging for her gift, really. I study her face carefully as she opens the folded printer paper with the gift card confirmation.

“Clone-A-Willy? Is this a make-your-own dick kit?” she blurts.

Looking about to make sure I don’t have the entire bar listening to this conversation, I return my gaze to her shocked expression. “It’s an online sex toy shop. You don’t have to use the gift card for that one if you’d prefer a different battery-operated boyfriend,” I say seriously. “Sometimes, the best gifts are the ones you need.” I wink.

Leaning back, in case she decides to deck me in front of all of her friends, I hold my breath as she comes closer.

“Well, it’s important to accept your shortcomings,” she says, looking down at my crotch. “Thank you for not offering, just to leave me disappointed.” Addison whirls toward her table before I can reply to the contrary.

I guess I had that coming.

“Where’d Addy go?” the bartender asks, holding a fresh margarita.

Considering her hasty exit was on my account, I decide to deliver her drink. “Oh, I’ve got it. I’ll take it to her.”

Standing from my barstool, I carefully approach and wordlessly slide the frozen cocktail in front of her to avoid getting her riled up and exposing my gift for everyone to see. I notice Jason has an empty chair next to him and decide to stay, hoping I can remain out of harm’s way.

“Nice,” Jason nudges.

“What? She ordered it. I only brought it to save the bartender having to come over.”

He snorts. “Sure you did.”

We make idle small talk as I take in the many passersby who drop by to wish Addison well. Once again, the margarita seems unnecessary as she’s received a steady delivery of drinks from well-wishers all evening. I hope she has the day off tomorrow. She’s going to end up wasted.

I head to the men’s room briefly and decide I’ll stay for one more beer before heading out. I don’t have to work tomorrow, but the longer I’m around this girl and that fucking dress, the worse my morning hand jobs are going to get.

As I return to my seat, I notice Addison is no longer at the table. Peering over my shoulder, I spot her on the dance floor with a man I don’t recognize. Not sure why this has suddenly made my blood run cold. I have absolutely no hold on this girl. If anything, I should use this opportunity to push any thoughts of her to the side.

“Hey, I think I’m heading out after this beer.” Nodding at my nearly empty amber bottle.

“Really? It’s still early,” Jason answers around a large bite of vanilla cupcake covered in lavender buttercream.

Wait. Are there tits on that thing? My gaze shifts to the table where I confirm there are multiple white and lavender frosted cupcakes topped with what appear to be edible boobs and… candy dicks ? My eyes flick up to see Cece licking the purple candy penis extending from the top of her cupcake with the tip of her tongue. This would be hot if I wasn’t distracted by Alden’s bright red face, whispering something to her as he’s trying to retrieve it.

Ah. Dirty cupcakes.

Abruptly the vibe amongst the table changes when 50 Cent singing “Go Shorty. It’s your birthday” starts playing. They’re all clapping and laughing as if I’ve missed some joke or secret ritual. Before I can contemplate this further, Addison squats down over me, lifts her arms overhead, and practically gives me a lap dance. Her long dark tresses bounce along the column of her spine as her hot ass hovers above my dick.

Uproarious howling emits from everyone in the vicinity as she sits all the way down in my lap and grinds. All the while, she and the others are singing along to the well-known tune.

Fuck. My cock’s responding like it’s his birthday.

Lifting her off me, I place her on her feet next to my chair. “Come on, sassy,” I say, swatting her right ass cheek harder than I probably should have given the audience.

Her head spins around as a tangible spark flies through the air between us. The corner of her saucy mouth lifts before she covers it with her hand, and her wide blue eyes hold mine. They’re full of… what? Embarrassment, playfulness? Or…

Holy hell. I think she liked that.
