Chapter_34_Really_Hig

Zip-lining. Ten stories in the air. Flying like a superhero.

This is the photo I’m staring at on the postcard.

I could never do that. I’m terrified of heights.

When I had to shoot a scene in a hot air balloon for Back in the Saddle, I had a panic attack and cried. I wanted to quit. My parents had to fly from Chicago to the set and convince me to stay. We made a pact with the producers that I would only shoot scenes where my feet were firmly planted on the ground.

I stir and slurp the last of my second pi?a colada.

Should I zip-line?I inexplicably wonder to myself.

My palms sweat again just thinking about it. Even the bottoms of my feet get clammy.

To distract myself, I dig for my phone and check in on @quaddaddiez. Today, their photo is the six of them wearing sunglasses surrounding a sandcastle on the beach.

The caption reads We did a thing. Under that are a bunch of hashtags that read #beachvibes #sundayfunday #playtime #BizIsGoingToSuckAtParenting.

I immediately drop my phone. I want to toss it in the pool. I blink, trying not to let my imagination get the best of me again.

I’ve had enough sun and too many frothy drinks.

I miss Wyatt and have to keep myself occupied. I pick up the postcard again.

I’m going zip-lining.
