Chapter 10 Brother’s Confession
That one look scared me witless.
Pei Muchen hadn’t just bared his eight-pack abs—he’d undone his belt too.
I grabbed his hand before he could go any further.
“Enough! Stop undressing!”
In my panic, my hand pressed a little too low.
We both froze.
......
......
I recovered first and kicked him away.
“Stop it, Pei Muchen. I have three husbands. Don’t tempt me anymore—I won’t betray them!”
But Pei Muchen just pressed his belt into my hand.
“Wanwan, what are you saying? You have no husbands but Brother.”
“Those men are just illusions. You were angry that Brother left you alone all these years, so you imagined three husbands to keep you company, didn’t you?”
His words fried my brain.
“What... you’re saying I...”
“That’s right,” Pei Muchen said. “The Su family’s financial crisis—I caused it. My grandfather tracked me down and threatened to bankrupt your family if I didn’t return to the Pei family and take over. He even used your safety against me.”
“I spent seven years seizing full control of the Pei empire.”
“Now the old man is dead, ashes in the wind. No one can threaten you anymore. No one can keep us apart.”
I stared at him, searching his face for any hint of a lie.
There was none. He sounded so sincere I almost believed every word.
Could we really be meant for each other despite everything?
But why did my memories of the other three feel so real?
Pei Muchen gave me no time to think. He guided my hand—the one holding his belt—and made me strike him.
“Wanwan, hit me. As long as you stop being angry.”
“You used to whip me whenever you were mad at me. Don’t you remember?”
God. Was I really like that?
I didn’t remember.
Yet seeing the red welts rising on his skin made my heart race.
My nose burned.
I touched it and came away with blood.
Pei Muchen let out a low, muffled laugh, his chest vibrating.
“Hehe... what a little greedy cat.”
