Chapter 12 Tears and Chains
Family, who gets it?
My foster brother disappears for seven years, comes back, kidnaps me, and forbids me from speaking to other men.
I steadied myself and tried reasoning with him.
“Fine, I get it—you like me.”
“I’ve got plans later. Go home and wait for my call.”
“Seriously, out of all of you, you’re the biggest drama queen.”
Pei Muchen froze.
I spun and bolted for the door.
Two steps—that’s all I managed before his arm locked around my waist and yanked me back.
Whatever he’d been eating these years, his strength was insane.
My feet dangled off the ground.
I kicked uselessly.
“Brother... let’s talk. Put me down.”
“Love has to be mutual. You can’t force me.”
His face darkened like storm clouds.
“Why them and not me?!”
Tears spilled down his cheeks.
He gripped my shoulders and shook me.
“Why? Why? Why?”
“I love you so much—why are you running?”
“Anything they can give you, I can give you.”
He crushed me against his chest, burying his face in my neck.
“Wanwan, stay with Brother, please?”
“Brother swears you’ll never suffer again.”
“Anything you want, Brother will do.”
“Just promise you’ll never see those three again.”
At first, I hated to admit it, but his tears looked beautiful.
But the moment he demanded I cut them off, I snapped awake.
“No way!”
“Do I look like someone who ditches people the second something new comes along?”
“I promised to love them forever. I’m not breaking that because of you.”
“And this jealousy? If everyone acted like you, how would we even live?”
“Stop this, let me go, or I’ll really get mad.”
“Do you want me to cut you off for good?”
The way to beat a yandere was to out-crazy him.
It worked.
He stared, stunned.
“You’d... abandon your own Brother for those outsiders...?”
“I won’t allow it. I absolutely won’t!”
“I’ll lock you away so you can never leave me.”
And he did—threw me in the basement.
