Chapter 20
SILVER
Justus gives a quick knock on the front door as he opens it and calls out, “Hey, not a burglar, just us. Don’t send Silver to kick Landon’s ass again.”
Landon enters behind him, rolling his eyes. “Hasn’t that gotten old yet?”
“Nope, but I’ll keep you updated.”
“Something smells wonderful,” Landon says.
“You’re just in time. About five minutes until everything’s done,” I announce.
Lee joins us in the kitchen, setting the table and grabbing everyone a drink. It’s a good thing I made so much pasta because the three men inhale it. Justus only pauses to answer a text. “Just checking in with the wife.”
I’d noticed his wedding ring and I’m not surprised.
You’d think there was some hot vigilante club somewhere because Lee, Justus, and Landon are all exceptionally attractive.
Landon’s skin issue doesn’t diminish his looks, and Justus has a smile that could knock any woman to her knees.
I wonder what the guys watching over Lacey look like? I’ll have to remember to ask her later.
“What’s your wife like?” I ask Justus.
“Gorgeous, smart, terrifying.”
Lee and Landon chuckle as I reply, “Good combination.”
“Yeah, Sadie’s perfect.”
Landon glances over at me. “She’s a saint dealing with him.”
“Ha! I’m a perfect gentlemen. She’s lucky and she knows it.”
“You nicknamed her Sadist.”
Justus smiles and swallows a bite. “She likes it.” He looks at me. “Pay no attention to Raisin.”
“Raisin?” I ask.
Justus nods, wipes his mouth with a napkin and sits back. “He dries up in the sun.”
My jaw drops in horror while the three of them seem amused. “Oh. That’s awful.” I point my fork at Justus. “You’re an asshole.”
“Thank you!” Landon says and leans over the table to speak in a fake conspiratorial whisper. “It’s all those years dancing for women to shove dollar bills down his pants. It went right to his head.”
It’s clear how close these two are and I wonder if their whole group is like that. Was it like that for Lee with his group? Did he lose his closest friends when he retired? “You were a stripper?”
“Exotic dancer,” Justus corrects. “Years ago. And I was a star. You should’ve seen my unicorn act.”
This night has been far more entertaining than I thought it would be.
“Real sorry we missed that,” Lee says with a snort. He seems to be having a good time too. This is what I was hoping for tonight. Just the tiniest reprieve from all the stress.
Justus gives him a quick once over. “I will not be judged by a giant lumberjack.” He tilts his head like a curious dog. “Have you ever thought of shaving that beard?”
“Don’t you dare.” The words spill out of me without a thought, and all eyes dart in my direction. Lee looks amused and pleased. “I mean…”
Justus nods, interrupting. “Is it hiding a weak chin? Beards are like makeup for men. Jowls? Is it jowls?”
“I like the beard,” I announce. I really do. He keeps it trimmed short, and I love the way it feels when he kisses me and when his face is between my legs. The way he looks at me, it’s like he knows what I’m thinking.
After dinner, Lee builds a fire in the living room and lets Rogue inside. Landon plays with her while Justus and I make the drinks.
“Whiskey or bourbon?” he asks Landon.
“Bourbon. Do they have a daiquiri for you?” He grins up from where he’s kneeling to pet Rogue. “Justus only drinks girly drinks.”
“As a matter of fact, we’re making strawberry margaritas,” Justus replies, flipping him off.
“There’s a higher alcohol content in our drinks than yours,” I point out.
“You tell him.” Justus blends the mixture as Lee rejoins us.
“What are we celebrating again?” Landon asks.
I hand him a drink “My homeowner’s insurance was refusing to pay after a fire destroyed my place. They finally gave in today.”
“Hey, that’s great. Are you going to rebuild?”
“No, the insurance company will deposit the money in about thirty days. I’ve decided to try to sell the place as is and let the next owners deal with it. I’ll buy another house.”
The rest of the night is fun. We sit around the living room, talking about a little bit of everything while Goblin and Rogue get absolutely spoiled. Goblin keeps climbing onto Justus’s lap.
“Everybody loves me. It’s a gift and a curse,” Justus quips.
The conversation occasionally touches on the situation we’re dealing with, but not too much.
The Moonlight Hotel doesn’t have cameras, which isn’t a surprise considering what goes on there.
Landon has also been staking it out at night and hasn’t seen anyone come or go in a bright red wig.
It looks like another dead end. There isn’t a lot to say, and it’s nice to have a break from it.
By the time Landon goes back to the cabin, and Justus heads to the guest room, I’m buzzed and happy. The house is quiet, with only the sound of the shower running in Lee’s bathroom. He’s left the bathroom door partly open, and I can see him through the glass shower door. Fuck, the man is hot.
I push the door until it’s wide open so I can get a view from the bed. Then I strip naked, lie down, and prop myself up on a pillow to watch him. My hand slides down between my legs. I wonder if I can make myself come before he gets out of the shower and catches me?
As soon as he steps out, his eyes land on me. They never leave as he quickly dries himself off while I put on a show for him. Tossing his towel aside, he slowly stalks to the foot of the bed.
“Couldn’t wait for me?” he says, his voice husky.
“It’s your fault. I saw you in the shower. Are you going to take over?”
His cock is hard and he gives it a few casual strokes. “Not until I see you come.”
The way he looks at me makes my cheeks ignite. He lets out a low moan that’s half growl when I dip my finger inside to get it wet before returning to rub my clit. I’ve never touched myself in front of him, and I’m shocked how much it turns me on.
I watch him lazily stroke himself and I can’t wait to get him inside me. “Fuck me,” I plead.
“You want my cock?”
“Yes.” My fingers work faster.
His lips tilt up in a half smile, and he shakes his head. “Keep your eyes open. Look at me when you make yourself come, and I’ll give you my tongue and my cock. All you can handle.”
Oh god. His words do the trick, combining with the vulnerability of looking into his dark eyes. A small moan escapes despite my attempt not to be too loud as an orgasm rolls through me.
The spasms haven’t even stopped completely when he yanks me off the bed.
I gasp, grasping at him when he plants his hands under my thighs and lifts me high, putting my back against the wall.
I don’t have a choice but to sit on his shoulders, my legs draped over his back.
He’s face to face with my pussy and he doesn’t waste any time.
Oh fuck, there’s no escape from his relentless mouth like this.
There’s nothing to hold onto but him as he keeps me braced against the wall and eats me right out of my mind.
It’s everything I can do not to cry out as he quickly brings me right back to the brink again.
“Lee,” I whimper. My hips try to pull back involuntarily but are stopped by the wall.
It’s so much and so good. I can’t take it. “Oh god. Oh fuck.”
“Lee!” I cry out, shattering into a million pieces.
He sucks at my clit steady and slow as I’m racked by constant spasms. It feels like I’m falling and I grasp around desperately for something to hold onto.
My hand bumps into the metal curtain rod, knocking it down.
It slams to the hardwood floor with a horrible clang, taking the curtains down with it.
I couldn’t give a shit. At least not for another few seconds.
“Oh, stop. Stop, Lee.” I’m done and way too sensitive.
He pulls back his head and lifts me off his shoulders but not fast enough. Before I can get my legs unhooked from him, the bedroom door flies open and Justus rushes in, gun in hand.
He stops short, his wide eyes taking in the scene. Lee pulls me off his shoulders and sets me down between him and the wall where his body blocks mine from view. He half turns to look at Justus, who seems to freeze for a moment.
“Shit. Sorry,” Justus says, and I can hear him trying not to laugh. “That was loud. I thought…I didn’t realize you were just…redecorating.”
He quickly retreats, pulling the door shut behind him. “Oh my god,” I whisper, slipping around Lee and rushing to lock the door.
Lee backs up and sits on the edge of the bed. Then he bursts out laughing.
“It’s not funny!” I hiss, smacking his arm with every word. It only makes him laugh harder. “Why didn’t you lock the door?”
“You were the last one in.” He barely gets the words out. Tears form in his eyes as his chest shakes. His uncontrollable laughter is hard to resist, and a few giggles spill out of me. I’ve seriously never seen him laugh like this. It’s almost worth the embarrassment.
“Imagine his point of view,” he gasps. “He’s drunk, hears a loud bang, thinks someone is attacking us or breaking in. Only to burst into the room, gun drawn, and see my bare ass with you on my shoulders.”
“If someone breaks in now, he’s going to knock first and ask permission to enter to shoot the intruder,” I say, heading to the dresser to get some clothes to sleep in.
Still laughing, Lee grabs me from behind and tosses me on the bed. “That doesn’t mean I’m done with you.”
He isn’t kidding, and by the time he’s finished, I couldn’t give a shit what Justus saw. When he pulls me into his arms to sleep, contentment wraps around me. This is the first good day I’ve had in so long. Things are finally looking up.
