45. "The only plans you have are with me. In my bed."
"Are you out of your mind?" The words flew out of my mouth as a frown made its way to my face.
Luna also scowled, slowly approaching me in a predatory manner.
She stopped in front of me, only a few inches away, glowering at me as if I was very beneath her.
"Why are you in our house?" I glared back, folding my arms across my chest, ignoring the fact that she was carrying a knife.
"He was mine first." She declared venomously, holding my gaze firmly.
I sighed. "I understand you may be hurt and upset, but he did tell you clearly the terms of your relationship, right?"
Her glare deepened. "I thought he would fall for me."
"But he didn't." I deadpanned.
Her nostrils flared. "You're with him just for his money!"
I rolled my eyes. "I'm a doctor. I don't need his money. Now leave."
She pointed the knife at me, threatening me with it. "You came between us. Tonight I am here to get you out of my way."
I pressed my lips together. "Luna, this will end horribly for you. I suggest you revert whatever little sense you have back into your head and leave."
Her eyes filled up with hatred as she took another step towards me.
"Luna?!" Aiden's voice sounded from behind, and I mentally sighed in relief.
We both turned to look at him.
His eyes were wide as he looked at the knife in her hand. "What the hell are you doing?!"
"Stay away!" She warned, pressing the tip to my abdomen, making him halt.
He glared at her. "Luna, let her go."
"Why would you choose her over me?!" She screamed. "She's not even half as good looking as me."
"Sure, honey, but I'm way smarter than you." I countered, taking the knife out of her hand in one swift move.
Her eyes widened in realisation as I stepped away from her.
Relief washed over Aiden's face, and he paced up to me, pulling me to his side.
"You will pay for this." His cold eyes glared at Luna as he made a call and pressed his phone to his ear.
Very soon, Luna was getting escorted out of the house by cops.
I stood in surprise at how eventful the night had been.
Aiden rubbed the side of my waist as he pulled me close. "I'm so sorry about that." He muttered.
I shook my head. "It's alright," I turned to face him and gave him an assuring smile. "We have a wedding to plan. Let's not let anything or anyone ruin our mood tonight."
He smiled back, pressing a kiss to my cheek, before carrying me upstairs bridal style.
———
Aiden was tense as he parked his car in front of the parking lot. He wanted to visit his family's graves with me again.
After parking, he just sat in the driver's seat in silence, clearly holding back his emotions and mustering up courage.
I took hold of his hand, squeezing it. "You're okay." I whispered.
He swallowed, nodding.
"I'm right here with you." I assured him softly.
He nodded again, sucking in a shaky breath.
"Sit. I'll get the door for you." He said, his voice coming out a little hoarse.
I nodded, watching him step out and walk up to my side. He opened the door for me and gave me his hand, which I gratefully took and stepped out.
His hand tightly held mine as we walked into the graveyard and approached his family's graves. He stood before his mother's grave first. I could feel his body shaking, his hand clutching on to mine tighter.
I used my other hand to rub his forearm gently, my heart squeezing as I imagined his pain.
"M-mom," he squeezed the word out of his mouth.
I stood still, holding my breath. "I... want you to.
.. meet my fiancé... this is Dr. Aysel," I rolled my lower lip into my mouth as a lump formed in the back of my throat.
"Y-you would have loved her as your... daughter-in-law; she's just as kind and loving as you. .. were."
I teared up, but worked on holding myself together, as I squeezed his forearm. I knew he was holding back tears as well.
He sat at the edge of her grave, his hand still holding mine. I watched tearfully as he touched her grave, his eyes now glistening with tears.
"Th-they won't be able to attend our wedding, Aysel." He croaked, his voice vulnerable.
I bit my lip. "They're watching us from heaven. I'm sure they're very happy for us."
He looked up at me with a broken look. "I know if there's one thing they're truly happy about is... the girl I chose to marry."
I teared up even more before taking my hand out of his hold and wrapping my arms around his neck. He held on to me as I kissed his neck and rubbed his back.
"Do you want to cry?" I asked softly.
"Yes." He whispered.
"You know you always have my shoulder." I told him, continuing to rub his back.
He sniffled, pulling me into his lap as he hugged me tighter and allowed tears to slip out of his eyes and fall on to my shoulder.

It was my day off from the hospital after a 48 hour shift, and I sat in my bedroom reading a book in silence, until Aiden walked into the room.
My face lit up when I saw him. "I'm ready. I just need to put my shoes on." I told him, setting my book down. We had decided to grab lunch at a new Korean restaurant that opened up.
"I need to make a quick stop at work," he told me. "Why don't you come with me? It's just a few files I need to handle, and then we'll head straight to the restaurant."
I gulped, remembering what had happened the last time I had been there. He instantly realised with one look at my changing expressions.
"I promise, nothing like that will ever happen again." He assured, looking straight into my eyes.
I took a deep breath, nodding. "Okay." I said, rising from the bed to put my shoes on.
"Is this little white dress appropriate enough for your workplace?" I inquired with a raised eyebrow as I slipped into matching white heels.
He groaned, looking at me from head to toe. "Just don't bend." He grumbled.
I giggled quietly, giving myself a quick look in the mirror before approaching him.
He elicited a gasp out of me as he put his arm around my waist and abruptly pulled me flush against his firm body. I blushed, my stomach churning with desire instantly. It was insane how utterly attracted to him I was.
His seductive eyes drank me in. "You look breathtaking."
My blush deepened. "So do you." My tone matched his low one.
The corner of his lip lifted into a sexy smile, before he leaned in to capture my lips in a toe curling kiss. Pulling back, he began kissing all over my face and along my jaw, before moving to my neck.
I squirmed in his strong hold, grasping his biceps for support as he left me increasingly breathless and turned on.
"Mmm... Aiden... work... important files?" I moaned breathlessly as he sucked on my neck.
He groaned, giving me one last kiss on my neck before pulling away, letting me see his eyes darkened with lust.
I bit my lip, blushing.
"Fuck... don't do that." He rasped, rubbing his thumb along my lower lip until I released it from the grasp of my teeth.
"L-let's go." I stuttered shyly.
He made a face of disapproval, but silently agreed, taking my hand and leading me out of our bedroom.
Soon, we made it to the Knight Corporation, where Aiden walked me inside hand-in-hand. His employees scuttled to their feet the moment we stepped in, instantly surrounding him with greetings.
He suddenly stopped in the centre instead of striding straight to the elevator. I glanced at him in confusion as he looked around. Everyone else seemed to hold their breath.
"Hello, everyone." He spoke, and I swear I could see every single person's eyes pop out of their sockets, indicating that he had never greeted anyone before. Something I had been witness to a couple of times.
I was equally surprised, yet pleased that he finally decided to acknowledge his employees' greetings.
"I want you to meet my fiancé. This is Dr. Aysel," he announced, and I pressed my lips together, not having expected him to declare our relationship officially like that.
However, it made me happy that he was finally acknowledging it in front of others.
"She will be Mrs. Knight very soon. I expect you all to treat her with utmost respect and honour. Is that clear?"
Everyone had a hard time concealing their shock, but they quickly recovered and replied him with a chorus of 'yes', followed by series of congratulations.
I smiled gratefully as I looked around the room, and Aiden simply nodded in acknowledgment, before beginning to lead me to the elevator.
I let out a breath as we stepped into the privacy of the elevator.
"You didn't tell me you were going to do that..." I uttered.
"It's only right. People need to know you're about to be my wife, that you're completely off limits, and what consequences they might invite if they dared messing with you." He replied.
My heart fluttered in my chest.
Warmth surrounded me as he stepped closer to me, slipping his arm around my waist. His lips found their way to my neck again.
I moaned softly. "Aiden... we're at your company."
He let out a moan too as he now started kissing along my jawline. "I can't... get... enough... of... you..." he said in between kisses.
I felt increasingly warm and horny, especially as I felt his hardness poke at my clad abdomen. "Oh God, Aiden, you're..."
"You turn me on so bad." He groaned, squeezing my hip.
The elevator doors dinged open loudly, making me gasp and push at him. He stepped away, disappointed, before walking out with me.
"You did not just push me, little one." He spoke menacingly in my ear.
I bit my lip to hold my giggle back. "I did. What are you going to do about it?"
I saw his secretary approach us from down the hall.
He put his hand on my waist, giving it a squeeze. "Wait for tonight. I'll show you what I can do."
I gulped, my heart beating fast. "I... I might have plans tonight."
His secretary grew closer.
He gave me a warning squeeze. "The only plans you have are with me. In my bed."
I swallowed, being able to hear my heart in my ears. My thighs clenched together in anticipation as heat flowed down to my core. I was already aching with need with how touchy he was being that day.
"Welcome, Mr. Knight." His secretary stopped before us, her gaze lingering on Aiden's hand on my waist.
"Miss Thompson, meet my fiancé, Dr. Aysel. Aysel, this is Miss Claire Thompson, my secretary." Aiden introduced.
Her eyes were wide with shock, the same reaction everybody else had shown. "F-fiancé? W-wow, I—"
"Yes, fiancé," Aiden asserted. "You may see a lot of her. I expect you to treat her with utmost respect, understood?"
She quickly nodded. "Of course, sir. Congratulations to both of you."
"Thank you." I replied.
She nodded, giving me a closed mouth smile, before returning her attention to Aiden. "I have the files ready in the conference room, sir. All the involved staff is already gathered there, waiting for you."
He nodded. "Aysel, wait in my office."
I gulped, nodding reluctantly.
He removed his hand from my waist only to take my hand and give it a reassuring squeeze. "It's alright," he whispered. "Trust me."
"Okay." I whispered back.
His eyes turned cold as he looked at his secretary. "I hope everyone now knows for sure that they will be fired instantly if someone dares to walk into my office in my absence, without my permission."
She nodded readily. "I informed everybody, sir."
"Good."
I gave him a small smile. "You go now. I'll be in your office. Take your time."
He kissed my temple. "I'll be quick."
Saying that, he began walking down the hall with his secretary while I made my way to his office.
I killed time in his office by reading an e-book, and almost forty minutes later, he was back.
His arm snaked around my waist as he pulled me to my feet and kissed my forehead. "Let's go grab lunch."
I nodded, smiling as I inhaled his expensive, manly scent, before linking arms with him and walking out of his office.
———
"I'm feeling shy..." I uttered as I put on my white coat while Aiden buttoned up the last couple buttons on his shirt.
"About what?" He asked, walking up to me and kissing the back of my head.
"About showing up to work with you..." I replied, slipping into my shoes.
"I'm offended." He said flatly, grabbing his car keys.
I turned to look at him as he headed for the door. "How will people react when they find out I'm engaged to my boss?"
He snorted. "Who gives a fuck?"
I bit my lip. "I just know I'm gonna be so red when you tell people."
The corner of his lip lifted up into a lopsided smile as he gave me his hand. I took it, walking behind him down the stairs and to his car.
"Wait, does this mean Dr. Bailey might actually start being nice to me?" I wondered as he drove down the road.
He chuckled quietly. "She better."
"Apparently her husband is one of your employees?"
"Yes," he confirmed. "So she better be on her best behaviour with you."
I bit my lip to keep my sly grin back. "It's wrong to be as happy about this as I am."
He took hold of my hand, bringing my knuckles to his lips. "Nothing wrong. I will make sure my wife-to-be gets all that she deserves."
I giggled, blushing as his words got to me, spiralling me into a serotonin rush.
We arrived at the hospital soon, and Aiden firmly held my hand in his as we walked to the entrance. I felt nervous with each step we took.
Surely, the moment we stepped in side-by-side and hand-in-hand, all heads turned, gawking at us like we were aliens. One person even dropped the files they were carrying, while many others dropped their jaws.
I felt discomfort overtake me as the attention became too much to handle.
Aiden didn't stop walking until we entered the OPD on the ground floor, where Dr. Bailey stood in the centre instructing a junior doctor.
I turned red as she noticed us, her face becoming pale as a ghost as she saw our intertwined hands, while several other people ogled us as well with equal bafflement.
Aiden gave my hand a squeeze before walking up to Dr. Bailey with me.
"Good morning, Doctor." He greeted her in his professional tone.
She swallowed her shock. "G-good morning, Mr. Knight."
"There's something I would like for you to know." He said.
"Yes, sir?"
"Dr. Aysel right here," he held up my hand, flashing her the diamonds on my ring. "Is now officially my fiancé," Dr. Bailey's eyes jumped out of their sockets at the revelation. "I trust you'll take good care of my wife-to-be as her senior." There was a hint of warning in his voice.
I gulped.
"I... of course, Mr. Knight.... Congratulations." She managed to respond.
"Thank you," he spoke before turning to look at my flushed face. "I'll see you after your shift ends, darling." He kissed my cheek, turning me twenty shades redder. His eyes gleamed teasingly as he pulled away.
"B-bye." I uttered, stepping away before he decided to French kiss me in front of the whole audience we had.
I could barely meet Dr. Bailey's gaze as Aiden walked away towards his office.
"Congratulations, Dr. Aysel." Dr. Bailey commented, her gaze seeming to pierce through me.
"Thank you, Doctor." I replied awkwardly.
"Are you ready to see your patients?"
"Of course." I nodded, looking anywhere but at her.
"Good." She spoke quietly before walking away without another word.
I gulped down all my awkwardness before switching to professional mode and getting to work.
At the end of the day, I made it to the doctor's room to get my bag and go home.
Andrew was already sitting there.
"Hi..." I greeted him softly.
"Hey. How was your shift?" He asked.
"Good. I'm going home. What about you?"
"I have a night shift tonight." He replied.
"Oh damn. Good luck."
"Thanks. It'll be fine."
Silence fell between us as I put my things in my bag and zipped it up.
"Andrew?"
"Yup?"
I turned to meet his eyes, taking a deep breath. "I need to tell you something..."
"Oh what?"
I swallowed, holding my left hand up. "I... I'm engaged."
He stared wide-eyed at the ring on my finger, visibly taken aback.
"... wow... um congratulations."
"Andrew, I'm sorry—"
"Don't be, Aysel. It's not your fault for not liking me back. If you're happy, I'm happy. We're good friends after all." He assured me.
I smiled softly. "I am happy... with him..."
His lips lifted up into a small smile. "I'm glad... may I ask whom you're engaged to?"
"Me." Someone beat me to the answer.
We both turned to look at the source. It was Aiden standing in the doorway.
I gulped, afraid of him being rude to Andrew.
Andrew stood up from the couch, clearly surprised, but he quickly composed himself. "C-congratulations."
"Thank you." Aiden replied.
"Sh-should we go now?" I spoke up, sensing some tension between both of them.
"I need to say something to Dr. Andrew first."
I gulped again, getting scared.
"Yes, sir?"
I watched as Aiden looked into his eyes. "I wanted to apologise... for being rude to you."
I blinked in surprise as the words left his mouth, staring at him in disbelief.
Andrew had a similar baffled expression.
"Especially for how I acted when I came to your house. Aysel had gone missing, and I was losing my mind." He continued.
I had no idea what he was talking about.
"I-it's alright, sir."
"However, I still stand by what I said. She's mine, and I won't have anyone else have her." He asserted.
I cleared my throat. "Aiden, let's go."
"Of course, sir. As long as Aysel's happy, I'm happy." Andrew replied.
"Good."
"Aiden, let's go." I repeated.
He finally directed his gaze to me. "Yeah."
Taking my bag from my hands, he walked out of the room.
"Um good night, Andrew." I bade him farewell before catching up to Aiden.
"What was all that about?" I inquired as we settled into his car.
"What?" He tried acting clueless.
"Did I really hear you apologising to Andrew?" I asked with a raised eyebrow, watching him reverse out of the parking lot.
"No, little one. I think you were hallucinating. You're not taking any meds, are you?" He replied nonchalantly.
I rolled my eyes before looking out of the window.
"Where are we going, Aiden?" I asked, noticing he missed a turn towards our home.
"On a long drive." He replied, running one of his hands through his hair.
I rested my head on the window pane, smiling softly. "Okay, sure."
Silence fell between us as he drove for the next several minutes.
"Aiden?"
"Yes, little one?"
"You won't get mad if I ask you something, will you?" I asked carefully, looking his way again.
"Not at all." He replied, keeping his eyes on the road.
"Did you build that whole you being a murderer reputation around you so people would fear you?" I wondered.
He stayed quiet for a few seconds. "Yes, so no one would dare putting me through the same emotional torment as fifteen years ago."
I nodded, understanding. "But despite all the walls you built around yourself, you're actually not too bad of a person, you know?"
The corner of his lip lifted up into a small smile. "I suppose."
As he stopped the car in the corner of the road, I looked around to see where we were, only to find that we were surrounded by trees on both sides.
"Why'd you stop here? Doesn't look safe." I commented, watching him unbuckle his seatbelt before he unbuckled mine.
"I'm here with you, so you're safe," He assured, before opening the dashboard and taking his gun out. "Besides, we have this."
I sighed. "I honestly hope we never have to actually use that again."
He had a small smile on his face as his hand reached out to cup the side of my face. "Don't worry, little one. You won't ever have to worry about pain again."
I smiled, closing my eyes as I revelled in the feel of his touch. "Hmmm."
"We should never believe rumours, you know?" He said.
I nodded, opening my eyes and looking into his. Eyes that I saw the whole universe in. "You're right."
"Because most of them are false."
I nodded again, leaning in to peck his lips. "Did you stop the car just to talk or are you going to be useful and do something?" I grinned suggestively, touching his forearm.
He smirked, leaning closer. "You know, little one, I could not let Liam hurt you."
I stiffened at the abrupt and unexpected mention of Liam. "Can we not talk about him?" I mumbled.
He leaned in even closer. "Because you're mine. My prey."
I snorted. "Right."
His eyes darkened as he pulled away a little.
I stared in surprise as he held the gun he was holding, to my chest, before bursting into laughter. His lips curled up into an amused smile as I did.
"Very funny, Aiden." I remarked once I was done cackling.
He smirked, before his features turned cold. "Everyone involved in my family's killing has died."
I swallowed, nodding. "We should go home..."
"Your father was the one who shot every single member of my family." His tone was cold and resentful.
I gulped, a shiver running down my spine as guilt overtook me. "Aiden, I'm sorry—"
"Shhh," He put a finger to my lips, abruptly silencing me. "It's now your turn."
I blinked in confusion, unable to comprehend what he meant, until his finger pulled the trigger and I felt a bullet pierce through my flesh.
My mouth hung open in shock as excruciating pain shot through my body and blood spilled out of my chest. "A-Aiden..." I croaked.
I saw his ice cold gaze watch me bleed before my vision grew blurry.
His words rang in my ears before darkness enveloped me. "Now I have fully avenged my family."
