He croaks my name like a plea that nearly breaks me and that’s when I know.
Tipping my chin in a weak greeting, the strap of my duffel digs into my already fucked palm with how hard I grip it, and I force myself to step around him.
Give him a wide berth.
Square my shoulders and hope that he gets the message.
He’s the one that chose this for us. Placated me by sending messages and voice memos. Kept me on his hook with his texted thoughts and random pictures.
All while I have loved him from afar.
I can’t fake it anymore.
Seeing him now … wanting him still … it only proves that I will never not have feelings for the man that didn’t choose me.
“ Vida ,” he growls out and grips my elbow, spinning me away from my disappearing bandmates until I’m crashing into his fluttering chest.
Our eyes collide and it takes every ounce of me to keep from crumbling. To keep my gaze hard and my body tense.
“Gimme three days,” he mutters, those navy blues of his swirling with so much depth that I might get lost in them. “Please.”
