Chapter 37

She’d driven into the ditch, but Greer hadn’t been going that fast. And then he had just been there. A man in a bright yellow shirt, with Value Sanitation Company on the breast.

He yanked open her door before she could lock it. Greer didn’t recognize hm, but she knew he wasn’t a good man. The way he looked at her…

She just knew.

“Let me go!” She didn’t bother to scream.

No one was on the road to hear her. It was just the last stretch of highway before it got to her family roads.

The drive to her family ranch was a quarter of a mile long before it even turned into the gravel drive that led to the house—almost another eighth of a mile from the turn.

There was no one else out there. Unless it was her family.

“What do you want? Let me go!”

“Don’t even remember me at all, do you, bitch?”

She fought the instinctive urge to flinch at the cursing. “No…”

“Little Greer Hiller. All grown up and…alive. I know about your bastard baby, too. Tell me—it’s Chase’s, isn’t it? How is that for ironic? Kev’s own brother fucking a Hiller whore.”

Kev.

“Who are you?”

“Let me introduce myself: Dwayne Yunderhall. Remember me now?”

Greer aimed right at his eyes. As she fought to get away.
