‘Penny Lane’ by the Beatles blasts out the speakers and my eyes snap upwards at him.

‘Why did I not see that coming?’ I groan, turning away so he can’t see my smile.

He tips his head back, laughing. ‘Can’t let a little bit of predictability stand in the way of a good song,’ he says. I can’t argue with that.
