11. Rory

RORY

Ihated to admit it, but I didn’t want to go into the office today.

Even with Aasim giving me security, nothing felt secure.

I knew the dangers of my career, but coming face-to-face with it was different.

Every day, I worked hard to do my part to make the world a better place.

Here I was, being threatened by what had to be a former client.

Today, I would spend the day in my apartment and try again tomorrow.

My body was tired from another restless night of sleep. All night, I tossed and turned while different scenarios of when the next set of black roses would arrive. Right now, my home was my sanctuary. Tomorrow, I could worry about the case files waiting for me. I needed to settle my mind.

I grabbed my journal from my nightstand.

Before writing anything, I took a deep breath and thought of what I wanted at this very moment.

Once I got a clean page, the words I wrote were peace and love.

After some thought, I closed the book. I wanted peace from whomever was bothering me.

Love was something I hadn’t thought of until last night with Aasim.

Aasim wanted to keep me safe, and that meant a lot to me.

When he took me down to the clubhouse, it was a sign that he trusted me.

I took it as a moment when he allowed me to come into this world, a gesture I didn’t take lightly.

Something between us shifted for me last night.

Aasim’s protectiveness made me feel safe.

For the first time in a long time, I didn’t feel alone.

After I took care of my hygiene, I dressed in my favorite lounge set and went into the kitchen.

I grabbed the kettle for my morning tea.

The sound of voices outside my door caught my attention.

I heard a male and female but couldn’t make out what they said.

The kettle hissed, and there was a knock at the door.

I froze in place, unsure of what to do first.

Then I heard Ava’s voice, “Rory Towns, if you don’t open this door, I’m going to break it down. Got this big dude in front of the door like he’s going to stop something.”

My breathing slowed down a bit at the realization that Ava was just being Ava. I turned the kettle off and opened the door.

“Get in here, and stop making all that noise in my hallway,” I said as I pulled her inside my place. “I’m so sorry. She’s my best friend, and she’s harmless,” I said to Dobbs.

I turned around to see Ava standing in the kitchen, fixing herself a cup of coffee.

“I went to the office, and you weren’t in. I’ve been calling you, and you never picked up. Are you still spooked about the package? And who’s the big dude in the biker vest guarding the door?” Ava asked.

“Aasim put some of his people to follow me until we figure out who’s sending the packages. I’m okay physically, but mentally, I needed a break today. Those flowers coming to the office were too close for comfort.”

Ava walked over to me and pulled me in for a hug. “We’re going to figure this out. If you want to spend the day going through files, we can. Or we can sit here and watch television all day. Whatever you need, I’m not leaving until you put me out.”

I laughed because I knew she was serious.

Back in college, I failed an exam that Ava passed.

I was so upset that I locked myself in my dorm.

After the second day, Ava came over with snacks and a change of clothes.

We stayed up all night studying. It became a tradition for us. I never failed another test.

“This whole thing has forced me to think about my future. Before I met Aasim, everything about my job felt safe. I chose the safe firm and worked cases I knew I could win. Being with him has made me want to change that. I don’t want to worry about my livelihood because of who I choose to date.

I’m just having so many thoughts. Have you ever thought about leaving the firm? ” I asked.

“Yeah. I’ve thought about it. I’ve wanted to make partner for so long, but it gets exhausting playing the corporate game. Sometimes, I want to see what it would be like if there was a firm for our people. Our clients find us, but there’re many more we don’t get to help. What you got in mind?”

“Aasim said something to me about helping the community when we first met. Ever since that conversation, I haven’t stopped thinking about starting my own firm. You know I take care of my mom. If I left, how would I take care of her?”

“Is that the only thing stopping you? If this has been on your mind since Aasim mentioned it, maybe you need to make it happen. I’ll come with you.

Back in law school, changing the justice system was something we talked about.

That will never change, so why don’t we step out on faith and try to bring change to the inner city? ”

I didn’t answer her. Instead, I put a tea bag in my favorite mug and poured the hot water over it.

It was a lot to think about, more than I could handle right at this moment, but a conversation I would need to revisit.

Ava wanting to join me gave me a little push that I needed.

I walked over to the couch, and Ava followed me.

We sat around for the next couple of hours binge watching Beauty in Black.

During the afternoon, my phone buzzed with a text from Aasim.

Aasim: I hear your homegirl was ready to put Dobbs on his ass.

Me: Ava doesn’t play about me. I told Dobbs she was harmless.

Aasim: I’m glad you’re protected. Do you think she would mind if I stole you away from her for the evening?

Me: Just say the word and I’m all yours.

Aasim: Dobbs and Curry are going to drive you to my place. Be here by eight. I have a lot planned for you tonight. **Winking emoji**

Me: I can’t wait. **kissing emoji**

“What’s got you smiling so hard? Let me guess; it’s Aasim,” Ava teased.

“He invited me over tonight. OMG! What am I going to wear?” I asked aloud.

“Come on, girl. Let’s find you something sexy to wear for your boo.”

We got off the couch and headed to the closet in my bedroom.

Hours later, after feeling like I went through every piece of clothing in my closet, I found something to wear.

I pulled my hair into a sleek bun on top of my head.

Ava gave me a full glam look for my makeup.

I settled on an orange halter dress that reached my ankles.

The slit in the dress came up to my thigh and showed off my toned legs.

I grabbed a pair of gold, strappy sandals and a gold clutch to match.

“Alright, friend, you’re looking good for biker bae,” Ava teased.

“Thanks for coming by and staying with me all day. I’ll be back in the office tomorrow, so you won’t have to hunt me down.”

“If you’re not, I know where to find you.”

We walked out of my place together. Dobbs and Curry were at the door waiting for us. Once outside the building, we waited until Ava got into her cab. Dobbs opened the back door to a black truck that was in front of my building. I climbed in, got comfortable, and enjoyed the ride to Aasim’s place.

The traffic was crazy, so it took us an hour to get to the other side of the city.

Anticipation filled my belly as we got closer to his home.

I thought about the kiss we shared last night at the club all the way here.

As badly as I wanted him to make me cum until I passed out, I couldn’t pretend it didn’t make me feel warm and fuzzy when he told me he wanted our first time together to be special.

The car stopped as we pulled in front of Aasim’s brownstone. He opened the door with a smile on his face as he walked toward the car. Dobbs rolled down his window as they spoke. When he finished greeting Curry, he opened the back door.

“Hey, sweetheart.” He greeted me with a smile. Aasim held out his hand as I got out of the car. “You look beautiful,” he whispered in my ear.

My cheeks hurt from blushing. “Thank you. What do you have planned for me tonight?”

“You gotta wait and see.”

We walked up the stairs, into this place. This was my first time coming to his place. It was a beautiful two-story townhome. As we made our way inside, I took in the open-floor concept.

“I love how you decorated. Most men have a bunch of random pieces of furniture thrown about. Everything in this space feels intentional. The accent wall matching the rug is a nice touch.”

“Thanks. Come on. I made you dinner.”

I looked at him with a surprised expression. “You’re holding out on me. I didn’t know you could cook. What’s on the menu?”

He grabbed my hand and led me toward the dining room table. Aasim pulled out my chair as I took a seat. Once I was situated, he pulled the lid off the plate that sat before me.

“Nothing crazy just some Cajun salmon with wild rice and asparagus.”

“Wow. It looks and smells great. I can’t believe you cooked for me.”

Aasim kissed my forehead, then walked toward the other end of the table to take his seat. “Be easy on me. You’re the first woman that I’ve cooked for.”

“You really know how to make a girl feel special. I’m sure everything is amazing.”

I grabbed my fork and dug into my food. Aasim had nothing to worry about.

The food was amazing. I wanted to make him sweat, so I didn’t give any reaction to the food.

He watched as I ate, waiting for me to say something.

When he appeared to be getting antsy, I finally said, “Dinner is really good. Who taught you to cook like this?”

A smile spread across his face. “I was raised by my grandmother. Well, Yaya, as I call her. Yaya is a beast in the kitchen. She always told me I wouldn’t be able to survive if I didn’t know how to cook.”

“That’s a smart lady. If your food tastes like this, I know she can burn.”

We continued to enjoy small talk over dinner.

I enjoyed everything so much. I cleaned my plate.

Aasim got up to clear the table and went into the kitchen.

He returned to the table with a slice of strawberry cheesecake covered in syrup.

Aasim took a seat next to me. He picked up the fork, then broke off a piece of cake, and lifted it.

“Here. Try a piece,” he said.

I opened my mouth as he fed me. The sweet taste of the cake caused a moan to escape my lips. I opened my mouth again for some more. Aasim placed another forkful in my mouth.

“If you keep moaning like that, I’m going to put something else in your mouth.”

I giggled then said, “I think I’d like that better than this cake.”

Aasim stood up, then pulled me from my seat.

There was no space between us as his lips met mine.

Our tongues danced to a rhythm that felt familiar to me.

The feeling of his tongue in my mouth caused my pussy to pulsate.

He caressed my breasts through my dress, which caused my nipples to harden.

I pulled at the belt buckle and freed his hardened dick.

Aasim’s girth filled my small hand as I slid it up and down his dick.

As our kiss deepened, Aasim slipped my dress off of my shoulders and helped me out of it. I stood in front of him in my underwear as he licked his lips.

“You’re so sexy,” he said in a low tone.

I got on my knees and went back to focus on his hardened dick.

After I pulled my hair back, I spit on it before swallowing him whole.

Aasim gripped my hair tightly as I continued to suck him off.

The sounds of him moaning made me wetter.

He held onto the table as I continued to allow his dick to fill my throat.

“Sweetheart, you gon’ let me slide in that pussy?” he asked.

I took my time sliding his dick in and out of my mouth.

When my jaw got sore, I got off my knees.

It was Aasim’s turn to pleasure me. He leaned me against the table and lifted my leg.

Aasim dove head first into my pulsating honey pot.

It was my turn to moan his name in ecstasy.

With every lick, jolts of pleasure shot through my body.

“Baby, please put your dick in me. I can’t wait any longer,” I said barely above a whisper.

Aasim licked his lips, then gave me what I asked for. He spread me out on the same table I just enjoyed our dinner on. I watched Aasim slowly enter me with lust-filled eyes. As he filled me up, the sounds of slickness from my wet pussy filled the room. A series of low, soft moans escaped my lips.

“Aasim, fuck, this feels good!” I shouted.

With his hands on my hips, Aasim controlled my body as he stared deeply into my eyes. He was so handsome; I could stare at him all day long. His eyes lowered as he continued to fill me.

“This pussy is wet as hell. I’m ’bout to cum for you,” he whispered in my ear.

My throat was dry from moaning. I couldn’t say a thing if I wanted to.

Moans shifted to low whimpers as I felt my orgasm about to peak.

We came at the same time, breathing heavily, but neither of us moved.

His body collapsed on top of mine. I couldn’t remember a time when anyone ever made me feel so good.
