Greetings Mick, I’m writing with disappointing news.
I will have to go back on my word after all and cancel next week’s trip to Houston.
A very dear friend is in something of a crisis at the moment and his teenage son is going to be staying with me here at the house for a little while.
I’m not certain if it will be a few weeks or more, but certainly I will let you know.
I’ve known the boy for years; his father is the honorable Judge James Landy, as a matter of fact.
Did you ever cross paths? He’s a lovely man, if a bit uptight and clinging to this modern Republicanism I’ve grown to despise.
Anyway, I am sorry. I hope you can get your money back for the plane tickets.
Of course as soon as I can, I’ll be in touch. I am disappointed to miss the shooting.
