Chapter 13

CHAPTER 13

VALERIA

I woke up in a strange room. It doesn't count as the bedroom if you place the bed anywhere at random. It felt like a store room where you would throw all of the extra stuff from your house, and it was windowless. I attempted to sit up, but I was startled back onto the pillow by a sharp ache at the back of my skull.

I closed my eyes for a while and started to think about what had happened and how I ended up here in this strange place. I recalled that I was digging at the back of the garage with Luke and we came across the box that Dad had mentioned. Luke headed back inside to call Kai and everyone else to see our discovery.

I took the photo out of the box and as soon as I tucked my phone in my pocket, something struck the back of my head and I passed out. Now that my eyes were open, I sat up and tried to massage my head it hurt so much. My hand felt wet, and I was unable to hold it for longer than a few seconds.

When I saw my hand, I saw blood dripping from my fingers and realized why it was hurting so badly. I looked back at my pillow which was saturated in blood. I attempted to stand up, but I sat back down because everything was spinning.

I asked my wolf, “What the fuck is wrong with me?”

No response. That had never happened before, my wolf and I synched extraordinarily. We had never lost contact with each other since the time the first time we were aware of each other.

I tried again, “What is wrong with you?”

I felt like part of me was lost somewhere. I was unable to make sense of this whole nightmare situation. I got up using the bed's headboard as support. Since my wolf and I were not connected anymore, I was unable to smell anything or anyone. Our communication had been interrupted by some form of energy.

I aimed to open the damn door, but I had to use the bed and the wall as support to get there. I managed to get to the door, but it was locked. I had been abducted, that much had been established. I summoned every last drop of strength within me and started banging the door and yelled, “Whoever the fuck you are just open the damn door.”

I had been banging for a few minutes and then I was unable to shout anymore. I stopped and made my way back to the bed. My throat was as dry as the Sahara desert. Whoever the fuck had kidnapped me was not familiar with the concept of human decency. No access to drinking water, and no bathroom.

The door knob clicked and the door flung open. Some sort of powerful energy entered and forced me to stay where I was at the edge of the bed. Lucien entered with a younger girl who was holding some mysterious energy in her hands.

I was taken aback, “What the hell is this? Where the fuck am I? Why have you brought me here?”

Lucien laughed devilishly,. “You are not in a position to ask questions.”

The energetic force restrained me and kept me from moving though I continued to fight against it which resulted in my stomach starting to ache but I refused to give up. I looked at him levelly, “Why am I here, Lucien?”

Lucien dragged a chair and sat in front of me, “Come on, don’t play dumb with me. I've known you since we were in school.”

I clenched my jaw, “And were you a coward when we met or did you become a coward after I broke up with you?”

Lucien looked at the young girl, “More.”

The force pulsated and started to get stronger and I screamed. Lucien raised his hand in the air and the young girl did something and the energy of the force lessened. “I never thought you would kidnap me, torture me, or use a young warlock on me. You disrupted the connection between me and my wolf.”

Lucien raised his finger and wagged it back and forth, “Don’t blame me. This was all you. It was your sick plan to prove me wrong in front of the council and now the pack has cast me out. I had no other option but to get the truth from you and prove myself.”

Lucien leaned back on a chair, “If I hadn’t restrained you with magic and if I hadn’t taken your wolf away do you think you would have talked to me?”

I spit on the floor, “Never.”

“See, so stop blaming me for everything.”

A sharp pain emanated in my stomach, but I took a deep breath. “What the fuck do you want?”

Lucien smiled, “Now we come to the point. It will be simple if you behave, what is between you and Kai Parker?”

I felt like throwing up, but I didn’t want to show any weakness. “None of your damn business.”

Lucien raised his finger to the young warlock and this time she targeted my head. I screamed like crazy and then he lowered his finger and the pain in my head faded. “Now, answer me. What is between you and Kai Parker?”

I closed my eyes, “He is my boss. Do you honestly believe that Kai can’t find me? Do you think my dad and brothers will spare you?”

Lucien smirked, “No one can find you until I want you to be found. And trust me, you’ll die here until I what I want.”

I shook my head, “I can’t believe I loved you and was willing to spend my life with you. Thank the goddess you and Morgana betrayed me and I saw your true colors.”

Lucien straightened, “I don’t have time for this emotional drama. Let's get back to our Q she is clearly not feeling well.”

“I don’t think we should give her time to rest and regain her energy.”

“She won’t regain her strength. We have blocked her wolf.”

“Can’t you magically clean up this room and her? After all, you are a warlock.”

The warlock asked flatly, “Can I go now?”

Morgana responded, “Come back tomorrow,” and the warlock left.

The energetic force was gone. I was feeling gross, and I didn’t have the strength to move. I concentrated on being able to listen to what Lucien and Morgana were saying.

“I think you should bring some fresh clothes for Valeria; I’ll do the cleaning up,” Lucien said.

“Just wait for the sunset, I’ll be faster in my wolf form.”

“I never thought our banging spot in the middle of the forest would one day save our ass.”

“How could you be so careless? I found her phone and this box on the floor of your car.”

“Where is her phone?”

“I switched it off and threw it in a well on my way here.”

I passed out when I heard that my phone was somewhere near. Kai would trace me and find me no matter what.

Just before I passed out, I heard Kai’s fading voice, “Val, where are you?

Follow my voice, use our bond.”

I sat up, but I was alone in the same strange room. My clothes had been changed and my head had been bandaged. The bedsheets had also been changed, and there was no sign of my puke and piss. I held my head and started to think I must be having a dream because I missed Kai. I closed my eyes and heard heard Kai’s voice again, “Valeria, follow my voice. For fuck sake Valeria, follow my voice, and this time don’t you dare break the connection.”

This time I didn’t open my eyes and in my head, I asked, “How?”

The voice started to get clearer, “ You know how.”

I started feeling Kai in my head, I told him, “ I have no access to my wolf.”

I felt like I was standing in a void and his voice was coming from everywhere. “ Focus on our bond and you’ll see I am right in front of you.”

I focused and Kai was standing where he told me. I smiled with tears in my eyes, “ Where are you?”

I have no idea but I heard them say that it’s somewhere in the middle of the forest.

Kai asked, You heard from who?

I responded, “Lucien and Morgana. They have the key and a young warlock who blocked my wolf. I have lost all my strength.”

“I will find you,” Kai said.

The door opened and Lucien and the warlock entered. He snarled, “What did you do?”

I stood up, “Do? Do what?”

Lucien slapped the warlock hard, "It was your job to supressher bond."

The warlock fell on the floor, “I did everything I could, but she must have used some strange energy to talk to him.”

Lucien asked the warlock, “What did they talk about?”

The warlock shook her head, “I only felt the link she made with Kai. I was unable to hear anything.”

Lucien looked at me seething, “What did you talk about?”

I squared my shoulders. Lucien pointed a finger at me, "I'll find out who the fuck Kai Parker is and then kill both of you. No one will ever find out.”

Morgana entered the room, “Kai is not human, that much has been established and now you can’t deny it.” She pointed at the warlock, “She just told us you spoke to him.”

“If he is not human then why does he smell like a human? What is it you are hiding?”

The pain started to rise in my stomach, “I need to go to the bathroom.”

Lucien’s evil expression turned to concern and he led me to the bathroom which was just outside of the room where he was keeping me. When Lucien led me back, Morgana stood with her hands on her waist. “Valeria, are you pregnant with Kai’s baby?”

I looked at her, “Are you out of your mind?”

“Morgana, how could you even think that?”

Morgana looked at Lucien, “Why does that bother you so much?”

Lucien sighed, “You need to work on your jealousy, girl.”

“So you are pregnant.”

I snapped at her, "I just finished my dinner before your fuck buddy hit me, so I'm not sure how or where I fell, but that's the only reason I'm throwing up."

Lucien looked at the warlock, “Restrain her, and this time I don’t want any more glitches, or else there will be no money.”

Afterward, Lucien grabbed Morgana and stormed out of the room. I was left looking at the warlock. “Why are you helping them? They are not nice to you.”

The warlock smirked, “I want the money.”

I grunted and sat back on the bed. I thought Lucien was making her do this, but, no, she was doing it willingly. She murmured something and blew toward me. I looked the other way, I had no interest in seeing her abracadabra. When she left, I leaned back and tried to remember the last time I had my period.

I started counting and then gasped; I was three weeks late. Fuck Morgana, you are a real-life bitch. I wanted to tell Kai, but I couldn’t because that damn little warlock would hear me using my bond.

As I was lying in bed Morgana entered holding a glass of champagne, “Drink with us, Valeria?”

I shook my head, “I don’t want it.”

Morgana forgot that the warlock had left the room and was no longer there to restrain me so she shoved the glass against my mouth I pushed her back, “What the fuck is your problem?”

Morgana fell on the floor, she stood up and looked at the spilled champagne. “You bitch, how could you push me?”

I stood up, “Have you lost your mind, Morgana? I can’t believe I lived all my life calling you my best friend.”

Morgana tried to grab me, but I kicked her and she flew to the other side of the room and banged on the wall. Lucien came in and asked, “What the fuck are you both doing?”

I pointed at Morgana, “Ask your fuck partner.”

“She refused to drink the champagne. I am telling you she is pregnant with Kai’s baby. We can prove this to the council and dismiss Jake Davis as Alpha of our pack.”

“For fuck sake Morgana try to understand. Valeria is right I hit her hard and this is the only reason she’s…”

“Why do I feel like you still love her?”

“Where did that come from?”

Morgana laughed sarcastically, “Because cleaned her, cleaned the room for her, asked me to buy new clothes for her and now you are acting like she is the most fragile thing in the world.”

“You don’t know what are you saying,” Lucien growled.

“Oh, I know very well what I am saying now everything seems clear to me. It was because of your jealousy of Kai that you filed a complaint against her in the council.”

Lucien clenched his jaw, “I have been cheating on her with you so I seriously don’t know how you…”

I couldn’t resist and laughed, “Typical, this is how karma bites you in the ass.”

Morgana and Lucien looked at me. I put a finger up to my lips, “Please continue.”

Morgana tried to attack me, but Lucien grabbed her. “Stop this nonsense right now.”

“Why are you protecting her,” Morgana yelled.

“Because right now I aim to clear our names by proving the Davis family and Kai Parker are up to something and keeping the whole community in the dark.”

“Why won’t you accept that she is pregnant?”

Lucien screamed and I heard his wolf this time, “Because I hit Valeria so hard that for a second I thought I killed her.”

“And you feel bad about it?”

Lucien was on the verge of transformation due to his anger. “Yes, I feel bad about it. Now get the hell out of my sight.”

Morgana stormed out of the room cursing. Lucien followed, locking my door behind him. I started to pace, and although I was three weeks late I still needed a test to confirm Morgana’s suspicion. I closed my eyes and thought about Kai. I wanted to call his name but didn’t. I didn’t want to take any more risks.

Impulsively I said in my mind, “ Kai, please come soon.”

“I am coming.”

I opened my eyes and immediately regretted what I had done. I waited for my door to open and for Lucien to yell at me, but nothing happened. After about an hour I went to bed because the room started to spin. I didn’t want anything to happen and give Morgana more clues about my possible pregnancy.

I leaned back and drifted off. I didn’t know how long I slept, but I woke up when Lucien opened the door. He was bringing me food when Morgana and the warlock rushed inside and said, “We are surrounded by wolves and two humans.”

Lucien grabbed my arm and led me outside and kept a knife over my neck.

Kai and Eli were standing in their human forms. Dad and my three brothers were in their wolf form all of them aiming to kill Lucien.
