Chapter 5

CHAPTER 5

“ T hat’s a lot of things to happen,” Shiloh commented when Frederick finished filling him in.

Frederick nodded. “Indeed. Now you understand why we’re creating defence teams. With a demon inside of Alpha Tom Hayes, who knows what he’ll do next, or who he’ll attack.”

“We need to look for smaller wolf packs. From what you’ve told me, he likes to hit them first,” Shiloh said.

Frederick nodded. “Jason was searching for those packs before his mate went missing.”

“How weird is it that there are actual gods in this pack?”

Frederick laughed. “It was strange when they first started dropping in to see the twins, but now, it’s just normal. You’ll get used to it soon enough.”

Shiloh grinned. “I’m sure I will, although I might fanboy over Ares when we first meet.”

“I did quietly to myself when I met him for the first time. I can’t wait to see what training he comes up with once he’s back with us,” Frederick added, leading him over to the training area.

Before they reached it, the two generals walked over.

“We heard that Ares has been taken to Tartarus. Do we need to go and rescue him?” General Gasgoyne asked.

Frederick shook his head. “No, a rescue party led by Hades is already in the underworld, but thank you for the offer.” He turned to Shiloh. “Commander Shiloh Sweeney, meet General Albert Gasgoyne, head of the Gargoyle Army, and General Paulo Delinga, head of the Dragon Army. Gentlemen, Commander Sweeney is to be in charge of the defence teams.”

“It’s a pleasure to meet you both. I’m sure we’ll be having a lot of meetings while the defence division is being set up,” Shiloh said to them.

“We’re always around whenever you need us,” General Delinga assured them.

Shiloh nodded. “Thank you. Let me catch up with Julian, Marius, and Kyle and then we can all get together to discuss everything. How does that sound?”

“Like a plan,” General Gasgoyne said. “We'll catch up with you later.” And with that, the two generals walked off.

“I never thought I would see the day when dragons and gargoyles worked together. But General Gasgoyne is new, I met the old gargoyle general and he wasn’t that friendly.”

“No, ex-general Baxter is currently residing in the gargoyle cells. He declared he was going to challenge Tudor for the crown. Needless to say, that didn’t happen,” Frederick told him as they carried on walking to the training ground.

They stood and watched as Martha was putting some soldiers through defensive moves.

“Is that Martha Hayes? I somehow didn’t connect the dots,” Shiloh observed with a touch of awe in his voice. “I thought she no longer taught or went on missions.”

“It is. I thought all my Christmases had come at once when I found out Martha and Ares were both going to help with the training. She didn’t go on any more missions after she mated, but looking at her, she kept the training up. No idea how though, and truthfully, I’m not brave enough to ask.”

Shiloh laughed. “These teams are going to be better trained than even the council guards.”

Frederick rudely snorted. “That won’t be hard.”
