Chapter 28
CHAPTER 28
“ S o, where is this chap going?” Frederick waved a hand at the stone gargoyle. “And how long is he in statue form for?”
Tudor sighed. “I can release him and he can go in the cells until we decide what to do with all of them but can we really punish them if they were under the influence of dream walkers I mean is that even fair?” Alex touched his arm.
Blake answered, “We'll sit down and discuss what we can do, Tudor. For the moment, please de-statue him. Frederick, please disarm him and he can go in the cells with the others.”
Frederick moved in front of the gargoyle guard and grabbed the hilt of the sword before nodding to Tudor.
Tudor’s eyes flashed and the gargoyle came back to his human form, with Frederick pulling the sword out of his hand.
The guard blinked and looked confused for a moment, then horrified. “Sir, I don’t, that is … I’m so sorry, I’ve no idea what came over me.”
Tudor nodded. “I understand but for the moment you’ll be placed in the cells with the others until we decide what to do with you all.”
“Others?” the guard queried, looking uncertain and still confused.
“Yes,” Blake said, stepping forward.
The guard turned to look at him, brows scrunched.
“The person responsible for setting the explosives and killing both dragon and gargoyle guards, and the two other assassins who tried to kill both King Puff and myself. You were infected by a dream walker who made you want to kill Tudor,” Blake told him.
The guard nodded, looking back at Tudor. “I’ve heard of dream walkers, I just wasn’t expecting to ever be affected by one.” He ran a hand through his hair. “I really am very sorry, sire,” the guard said.
Tudor nodded. “I know Frederick will take you to the cells now you’ll need to stay there for a while as we have a lot to fix before we’ll have time to discuss your punishment.”
Alex touched his back and Tudor stopped talking.
The guard looked at Frederick and slowly pulled a knife out of his boot, then handed it to him.
“Thanks. This way,” Frederick said, leading the poor guard away.
“What a mess.” Blake sighed, running a hand down his face.
“It is, but we can fix everything,” Baylan promised, capturing his hand and holding it.
“We can now I need to see the injured gargoyles Ajax and Wynter have been helping and we need a permanent hospital for the injured though and somewhere to lay out our fallen gargoyles and dragons,” Tudor said.
Alex touched his back, and Tudor stopped talking.
“I’m sure Ares wouldn’t mind creating that for us, would you, brother?” Alex asked him.
Ares nodded. “I can do that. Do you want it on pack lands or the new site?”
“Here would be best for the moment,” Blake said. “It’ll be easier to look after them here until the other site is set up.” Blake pointed to the large empty space in the lower garden. “There would be best, Ares, thanks.”
With a wave of his hand, a hospital building was now standing proud. “It also has all the equipment needed for a hospital.”
“Thanks, my god,” Jason kissed his cheek. “I’ll let Ajax and Wynter know and we can start moving the injured inside.”
“We can ...” Puff started to say before huffing and looking at Atticus.
“Those dragons already in dragon form are fine where they are. The others can be moved to the hospital,” Atticus explained for Puff.
Puff smiled at him and leant into his side.
“Then we have a plan. Let’s get moving, everyone,” Blake concluded.
Zeus appeared in the garden next to Hades and took in all the destruction.
“Is it classed as interfering if we fix everything up for them?” Hades asked him.
“Unfortunately, yes, but I’m sure we can find a loophole somewhere.”
“I got all the trapped dragons out and Ares got all the trapped gargoyles out. I stopped Puff being killed and Blake stopped his attacker as did Tudor,” Hades updated him. “Han’s had a busy morning, too.”
Zeus looked surprised.
“My Frederick claimed him as family,” Hades said.
Zeus nodded. “I would expect nothing less. The people here are amazing – something like this is going to hit them hard. By the way, I sent a message to all gods from every Parthenon asking them not to help Barnabus and telling them why. So far everyone has agreed not to help him. And, no, it’s not interfering, before you say anything.”
“I wasn’t going to say anything. But what about Amatsu-Mikaboshi?” Hades asked with a grimace.
Zeus stroked his beard. “All we can do is hope for the best. If he sides with Barnabus it could spell disaster.”
“Would he really risk destroying everything?”
“This is Amatsu-Mikaboshi we’re talking about, Primal Chaos. Who knows how his mind works? But if we need to stop both we will,” Zeus said. “Did you know Demi and young Brook are having a baby dragon in about three months? Ares told me earlier.”
Hades smiled. “No, I’d not heard. You can stop worrying about Demi now, he’s surrounded by a growing family and truly loved.”
“Now I need to get Dask sorted.”
Hades shook his head. “Maybe wait until all this chaos is over.”
Zeus thought for a moment. “You’re probably right. Now let’s go about fixing these buildings to how they previously were.”
“Can I leave that with you? I need to see Decker.”
Zeus nodded. “You can. I’ve not played like this in years.”
“What about not interfering?”
“I’m helping my sons and their friends, no interfering happening here.”
Hades laughed and vanished.
It didn’t take Zeus long to fix the dragon building. After grateful thanks from General Delinga and some of the other dragon guards, Zeus made his way over to the gargoyle building.
Jason spied him first and grinned. “Oh my god, it’s Zeus. How can we mere mortals cope in the presence of such magnificence?”
Those closest laughed.
“Yeah, yeah, poke fun at me – I would, and here I am, ready to help fix the gargoyle building. I’ve just done the dragon one,” Zeus grumped out.
“Thanks for your help, Zeus,” Blake said honestly to him.
“Think nothing of it.” He turned to Tudor and held his arms out.
Tudor rushed into his open arms and sighed into the hug. “Thank you I so needed this today today has been horrible and we have dead dragons and gargoyles and injured ones and we need to find a way to stop dream walkers from doing something like this again.”
Zeus squeezed him and Tudor stopped talking. He ended the hug and said, “I have every confidence that you will all find a way to stop them. You have a powerful pack.” He looked at Blake and those gathered close. “Remember, it’s all about the wording.”
Blake nodded even though he wasn’t really sure what Zeus was getting at.
“Now, let me fix the gargoyle building and then I must away.” Zeus walked closer to the destroyed part, and in no time at all the building looked as good as new with all debris gone. Everything was back to its original state. “Be safe, everyone,” he said and vanished.
“So clean-ups done. Let’s start moving the injured to the hospital block,” Blake said.
It took a while until all the injured were settled down in the hospital. Those dragons that had shifted stayed under a large magical dome that Oz created.
Ajax was hard at work, fixing the injured with Brook helping. He found Brook a willing and helpful assistant. Once they had a moment, he would talk to Brook about becoming his assistant. Being a half djinn, his magic wasn’t strong, but he could see Brook with his dragon magic being a big help and he had a feeling in the not-too-distant future he would be needing lots of help.
