CHAPTER 38
T he next morning saw the pack mates arrive home, all of them relieved to be back.
“I hope that’s the last time I need to stay at the palace it’s so nice to be home but that’s mean isn’t it the palace can’t help being a not nice place.”
Alex touched his arm. “We know what you mean, sweetheart.”
I’m going to check on the injured guards, Puff told everyone through the pack link. He missed talking properly and out loud.
“I’ll come with you I hope they’re all almost better,” Tudor said. He stopped talking when Puff took his hand.
Come on then, Puff said. We’ll catch up with you all later.
“I’ll come with you,” Mateo added. He looked at Atticus.
“I have some meetings, I’ll come and find you when I’ve finished.”
Mateo grinned. “Good luck.”
Atticus laughed. “Thanks.” And with that, Atticus walked off to his room.
“Puff, Tudor, once you’ve seen the guards, can you come over to the new lands so we can decide what we need? I’ll have Frederick, Shiloh, and the generals meet us there,” Blake asked.
Will do. Puff confirmed, and he walked out with Tudor, still holding hands.
Mateo and Angus followed.
How are you really doing, Tudor? Puff asked him.
Tudor sighed. “I’m okay Alex keeps checking my chest making sure it’s still all better it scared him when I was injured.”
Puff squeezed his hand. It scared all of us. Thank goodness for Ares.
“Yeah I need to talk to the young man again and the two guards that are still in prison.”
As I need to talk to my dragon guard and Blake with Charlie.
By this time they had reached the hospital block entrance.
“Shall we see all the guards together or would you prefer to see them on your own if you do I don’t mind.”
Puff squeezed his hand. We can see them together to show that we care about all the injured, not just our own guards.
They started with the injured gargoyles. Tudor spoke to all of them, as did Puff via Mateo.
They had just finished talking with the last injured gargoyles when the door opened and Ajax and Dr Palmer walked in.
“You’re back. How are you feeling, Tudor? Gary filled me in,” Ajax said, smiling at them.
“I’m all fixed thank you Ares healed me and Dr Palmer helped me Hello Dr Palmer I’m so glad you're here.” Puff squeezed his hand.
“Thank you, sire, me, too. I arrived yesterday evening. Ajax is just showing me around.”
“Call me Tudor,” he said simply.
Dr Palmer nodded. “I’m Gary.”
Ajax looked at Puff. “How’s the throat?”
Still sore and not much of a voice. But getting better. I need to start taking the elm bark tea again.
Ajax nodded. “You do. If you cannot talk for the next week, that should really help.”
Puff nodded. I will try my very best. Are you okay with Dr Palmer here?
Ajax nodded. “I really am.” He turned to Gary. “Forgive me, Gary. This is King Puff McDuncan and King Bob, King of the dragons and all mythical creatures. He and Bob burned their throat and Puff needs to rest his voice and a special tea to help.”
Dr Palmer bowed. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, sire.”
“Puff says welcome to the pack,” Mateo said. “I’m Mateo Thomas, the Dragon King’s Guardian, and this is Angus Holmes, one of Tudor’s personal guards.”
“Hello.” Gary smiled at them, then glanced back at Puff. “Thank you for the welcome.”
Puff smiled at him.
“There are a couple of dragons still healing but they should be all better by this evening,” Ajax told them.
Thanks, I’ll go and see them, Puff replied.
“I’ll come with you I’m glad nearly all the dragons are better,” Tudor said. Puff squeezed his hand and Tudor stopped talking.
“Then let us away,” Mateo said. “Puff said it was nice to meet you, Gary.”
Puff nodded.
“The same, Your Majesties.”
After visiting the injured dragons, they made their way to the new pack lands.
Puff was surprised to see so many people there. As well as Blake and Baylan, there was Paris and Ashton, Dane and Donovan, Alex, Ares, Oz and Saxon, Ares and Demi, Frederick, Shiloh, the super soldiers, and the two generals.
“Ah good, you’re here. How are the injured?” Blake asked.
Tudor moved to stand next to Alex, who took his hand.
“They’re all healing up nicely there are only two dragons still injured and about half a dozen gargoyles still healing and Dr Palmer has turned up Ajax is showing him around.” Alex squeezed his hand and Tudor stopped talking.
“That’s good news, both for the guards and that Dr Palmer is here,” Blake replied. “So, as you know, we have five thousand new acres here. As well as the training facility, we’re going to be building homes for families, a school, and moving the hospital block here.”
“Are we doing it all with magic or hiring builders?” Shiloh asked.
“We can do it with magic and create a spell so outsiders can’t see the buildings,” Saxon answered.
“That would work, Oz did that for the coronation buildings,” Blake said. “So where do we want everything?”
The group spent the rest of the morning walking round the lands and designing everything they needed, with Paris and Dane taking notes.
“I need a regent,” Blake said on the walk back to the pack house. “I mean, both Tudor and Puff have one, I should have one too.”
“Well, Ash is your Beta, why not make him your regent as well?” Baylan said with an evil grin.
Blake grinned. “I like your way of thinking. Hey Ash,” he called out, as Ash and Paris were further ahead.
Ash and Paris stopped walking and turned around.
“What’s up?” Ash asked him.
“I’ve just given you a promotion. As well as my Beta, you’re now my regent,” Blake replied, now standing in front of Ashton.
Ash’s mouth dropped open. He quickly closed it with a click. “I hate you so much right now.”
Blake, Baylan, and Paris burst out laughing.
“You think that’s bad, I want to put Nick in charge of the council finances.”
“I so want to be there when you tell him, especially being tax season,” Ash wished.
Blake grimaced. “I might leave it for a few weeks.”
“That might be wise,” Paris said.
“After lunch, you need to meet the new arrivals,” Paris reminded Blake.
“I’d forgotten about them. I’ll grab Puff and Tudor and we can all meet them.”
