19. Chapter 14

Marcus

Present Day

Fuck. I place my knuckles up to my mouth and bite.

The thought of Evie's lips wrapped around my cock makes me shudder. It’s been years.

I am so upset with her beyond any words.

The want to choke her and hold her is a push and pull I never thought imaginable.

I can’t let myself get close ever again.

It destroyed us. One day you have the love of your life, the next you wake up and there’s no one there to even do the normal things in life with. Well, as normal as they can be for us.

This life is anything but normal. Eat, sleep, and gang bang for life, a female by your side is only a plus. And Evie was our female. Ours. Mine. She’s fuckin mine. I still love her. That will never change, but sometimes things are better left alone.

“So Evie, what are you hiding from?” Emmit just comes out with it. Real fuckin smooth.

She tenses for a second. If you weren’t paying attention, you would have missed it.

She’s in the back, in between Emmit and Sylus.

I’m a sitting passenger, as Damion drives and Treven takes the rear.

I look out the dark tinted windows and watch as the graffiti covered streets change.

We have the Pen house and we have a home on the outskirts.

Evie knows of neither. Can’t help but to think, would things be different if she stayed?

She remembers us as nothing but some gang banging hood thugs.

We all lived rough lives and have our own stories to tell.

We know Evie has hers too and one day the whole story will come to life.

Do we just let her go? Or do we hold on and never let go?

“Fuck you. Acting like you give a shit or something.” Evie rolls her eyes and crosses her arms over her breast. That ass would look really good over my knee right about now. I need to smack the attitude right out of her.

“Evie.” Damion growls.

“What Damion? Your shit’s not going to work on me.

I’m actually a big girl now. All grown up.

” Evie licks and then rolls her lip in to bite.

Her arms are still tucked into her body like they're supporting her. Maybe they are. We aren’t exactly the most cuddling type.

We are domineering ass holes. We know how to intimidate and get what we want.

If that doesn’t work, well there are other ways that we can definitely make people give us exactly what we want.

We will find a way one way or another. I take a glance in the mirror.

My eyes glide over Evie's body. She looks thin, her arms and legs have some bruising. Don’t get me wrong, she's still drop dead gorgeous.

But I can tell she isn't being taken care of.

“How long Evie?” My voice grows deep. I want to know. She turns her head and tries to look at the window.

“I don’t think so, Babydoll. Marcus is asking you a question.

How about you answer it?” Emmit tries to lower his voice and look Evie in the eyes.

He tilts her chin up using his thumb and pointer finger.

“The faster you answer questions, the easier this will be. You know how things go. You might have been away for years. But, Evie, we are still us.” We are all on edge.

Damion is gripping the steering wheel like his life depends on it.

Trust me, it’s not going anywhere. My patience is thinning.

If I have to extract the info, then I guess I will.

Emmit’s smile looks like it will burn a hole in whoever looks at him.

I can tell he’s holding back. Fuck, we all are.

Treven's boy next door charm looks to be tittering. Always the good guy, and Sylus looks bored. Maybe he’s upset he didn’t get to stick his cock in that warm hole back at the club.

Who am I kidding? He's probably mad that the only warm hole he wants or any of us wants, is not going to let us anywhere near.

“I have been here for years. It was the safest place to be.” Evie huffs like that was so much work.

The lights start to dim around us the further we go from the city. The noise from cars and everyday life diminish. I watch as her hands start to fidget. “Hands flat on your knees, Evie.” I demand, knowing that she needs it.

Evie is tough and fierce, a heart made of solid strength.

But she needs to be grounded. Sometimes your mind is what plays all the tricks.

I’ll ground her mind and body, then I’ll show her who really runs the show.

Her big brown doe eyes lock onto mine. She’s fighting with her inner self.

To give in to my demands or not. In the end, she ends up, placing both hands, palm down on her knees, she breathes in and then releases.

“You know the safest place would’ve been with us, instead you just ran away.” Damion grinds his molars. His hands sink even further into the steering wheel. I have the urge to reach over and save the poor car. Evie's chin lifts up as she looks into the review mirror.

“You act like I had options. I did what I had to with what I have. Which let’s all be honest isn't much. I need that job, whether you like it or not. I have bills to pay.” She starts to slouch down in the seat.

“You're staying here till we know what’s going on Evie.” Damion insists and it’s one of those ‘you're going to do it if you like or not.’ I try not to laugh. So I cup my fingers over my mouth and look outback out the window. Once again, Evie comes barreling through like a heavy storm silent, but deadly, just waiting and I’m not sure what she’s waiting for. But to turn our lives upside down.
