Chapter 66
After being murdered in this house, your soul is far too restless to go to any sort of afterlife. After a brief negotiation at the Pearly Gates, you find yourself back in the exact spot where you were killed. Except now you are a ghost.
Interestingly, it turns out you’re not the only one haunting this house.
Many other animals are walking around the hallways, some far more exotic than the ones whose photos were on the wall in the dining room.
There is one creature that seems to be a cross between a rooster, a cat, and maybe a dragon.
While you are getting your bearings, another creature comes bounding toward you.
This one looks almost like an ape, except covered in white fur.
It has huge white fangs that look like they could rip your throat out.
Actually, that probably can’t happen now that you’re a ghost, but who really knows?
You can’t be killed but maybe you can be double-killed.
Either way, it makes you nervous that this monster is rushing toward you, and you instinctively take a step back.
But then it stops short, just before double-killing you.
“Hello,” the creature says. “My name is Nicole.”
“Uh, hi,” you say. “I’m Sloan.”
You now recognize the creature as the abominable snowman (snowwoman?) pictured in the dining room. She looked quite formidable in her photo, but right now, she seems very down-to-earth and lovely.
“How long have you been here?” you ask her.
“Years,” Nicole says sadly. “I used to live with my husband out on the mountain, but then I was captured and killed. I’ve been haunting this house ever since.”
“Haunting the house?” That idea appeals to you. “What does that involve?”
“Mostly little things,” she says. “You can knock paintings off the walls or make scary noises. Sometimes, if you get really excited, you can slime things. If you do too much, though, they call these four guys with power packs to come over and get rid of you. They put you in this containment unit, and you have to wait for the EPA to let you out. It’s kind of a pain. ”
“That sucks,” you comment. “So basically, you just hang around, moving paintings?”
“Pretty much.”
Nicole is right. There isn’t much to do in this house. You explore the place a bit and discover Mr. Wentworth sitting in his study, using his computer. He looks very absorbed in whatever he is doing.
You walk around the side of his desk to look at his computer screen. As it turns out, he is on that OnlyFans site that you had been looking into to earn extra money, and…
Oh God, that site does not have anything to do with home cooling units! Wow. You’re lucky you didn’t have to resort to that.
Actually, being a ghost isn’t so bad. You’ve got this big house to rattle around in, and you don’t even have to pay rent.
