Epilogue #2

Dario closed the oak doors, engaging the deadbolt. He shrugged off his tailored suit jacket, tossing it over a velvet armchair, and began unbuttoning his crisp white shirt as he crossed the room.

Sheher looked up, catching his reflection in the antique mirror. A slow, deeply intimate smile curved her lips.

"The house is quiet," Sheher murmured, turning to face him. "Your father nearly exhausted himself dancing with Ela. I thought Dr. Rossi was going to have to intervene."

"My father would fight a medical team before he denied his only granddaughter a dance," Dario chuckled softly, closing the final distance between them.

He did not stop until his chest brushed against hers.

He reached out, his large, calloused hands gently pushing the curtain of hair over her shoulder, his thumbs tracing the delicate line of her collarbone.

The scent of her—warm vanilla and the faint, lingering notes of her expensive perfume—instantly clouded his senses.

"You were magnificent tonight," Dario whispered, his voice dropping into a raw, gravelly register that vibrated against her skin. "I could not take my eyes off of you. You outshone every woman in that ballroom."

"I am a mother of three, Dario," Sheher laughed breathlessly, her hands sliding up the expanse of his bare chest, her fingers tangling in the dark hair. "I spent half the evening preventing your sons from looting the catering tables."

"You are a goddess," Dario corrected fiercely, leaning down to press a hot, open-mouthed kiss to the sensitive skin just below her ear. "You are the center of my universe, and you have only grown more beautiful with every year that passes."

Sheher let out a soft, shuddering gasp as his lips trailed down the column of her neck.

The deep thrum of desire instantly ignited in her veins.

A decade of marriage had not dulled the primal, magnetic pull between them; if anything, the years had only deepened the desperate, consuming need they felt for one another.

Dario swept her effortlessly into his arms, lifting her off the Persian rug. Sheher wrapped her arms around his broad shoulders, burying her face in the crook of his neck as he carried her the few short steps to the bed, laying her gently against the cool, dark linens.

He followed her down immediately, bracing his formidable weight on his forearms to avoid crushing her. His dark eyes were dilated, blazing with a feral, worshipful heat as he looked down at her.

There was no rush tonight. There was no frantic, desperate urgency born of fear or chemical fire. Tonight was an act of pure reverence.

Dario’s hands moved with agonizing, deliberate slowness.

He caught the thin silk straps of her nightgown, sliding them gently off her shoulders, lowering the fabric until it pooled at her waist, exposing her skin to the warm glow of the firelight.

He mapped the contours of her body with his fingertips, committing every curve, every dip, and every soft line to memory, treating her as if she were a priceless masterpiece he had been granted the sole privilege to touch.

"Dario," Sheher whispered, her voice fracturing as his hand traced the curve of her hip, a delicious heat pooling low in her abdomen.

"I am here, amore mio," he promised against her lips, capturing her mouth in a slow, deeply sensual kiss.

His tongue swept past her parted lips, tasting her with a thorough, sweeping intimacy that stole the breath from her lungs.

Sheher arched up into him, her hands sliding down his strong, muscular back, pulling him flush against her.

The friction of his hard, powerful body pressing against the softness of hers was intoxicating.

Dario worshipped her. His mouth left hers to blaze a searing, wet trail down her jawline, over her collarbone, and lower, laving intense, deliberate attention to the soft swell of her breasts.

Sheher cried out, her fingers twisting desperately into the dark silver-streaked hair at the nape of his neck, her back arching off the mattress as a violent shudder of pleasure racked her frame.

He removed the rest of her clothing with swift, fluid motions, discarding his own garments until there was nothing left between them.

When he settled between her thighs, Dario paused.

He looked down at her flushed, beautiful face, his chest heaving, his muscles trembling with the sheer force of the restraint he was exercising.

He wanted her to feel the staggering depth of his love.

He wanted to brand his devotion into her very soul.

He entered her with a slow, agonizingly deep thrust, pushing in until they were seamlessly joined.

Sheher let out a ragged, high-pitched gasp, her eyes fluttering shut as the intense, overwhelming fullness anchored her to the bed. She wrapped her long legs around his waist, locking him to her, tilting her hips to draw him even deeper.

Dario set the rhythm, a slow, deep, driving cadence that was relentless.

Every thrust was a physical vow. Every slide of skin against skin was a silent prayer of gratitude.

The physical connection between them was so profound that it bordered on the spiritual.

Sheher met him perfectly, matching his rhythm, her quiet, broken moans echoing in the silent air of the master suite.

The heat in the room escalated into a blinding inferno.

Dario’s control began to fracture, his movements becoming harder, faster, and more desperate as the overwhelming sensory overload pushed him toward the edge.

He tangled his fingers with hers, pinning her hands gently to the pillows beside her head, his dark eyes locked intensely onto hers.

"Look at me," Dario commanded, a harsh, ragged whisper as he drove into her. "Sheher, look at me."

She opened her eyes, her gaze glassy and consumed by pleasure, meeting his fierce, worshipful stare.

"I love you," Dario choked out, the words ripped from the very bottom of his chest. "I love you. You are my life."

Sheher shattered. A cascading wave of pure, agonizing pleasure ripped through her core, her voice breaking into a high, keening cry as she clamped tightly around him.

The intense, contracting heat of her climax triggered Dario instantly.

With a deep, guttural roar that vibrated against her skin, he gave one final, desperate thrust, emptying himself into her as the climax tore through his powerful frame, leaving him ruined in her arms.

He collapsed against her, his chest heaving as he buried his face in the crook of her neck. Sheher wrapped her arms tightly around his broad shoulders, holding him close, waiting for the frantic galloping of their synchronized heartbeats to slow.

Hours later, the fire had burned down to glowing orange embers.

Dario lay awake in the dark, the duvet pulled up over them. Sheher was fast asleep, her head resting on his chest, her soft, even breaths ghosting across his skin. He held her securely, his hand gently stroking the long, dark waves of her hair.

The Don of the Vellucci empire stared up at the shadowed ceiling, a man consumed by a grounding contentment.

He thought back to the hollow, arrogant monster he had been a decade ago. He thought of the blood, the mistakes, and the horrific cost of his own blindness. He had been a man who did not deserve a fraction of the blessings that had been bestowed upon him.

But life, in its strange, chaotic mercy, had given him a miracle anyway.

Dario tightened his arm around his sleeping wife, listening to the unshakable peace of the sprawling estate.

He knew that no matter what territorial wars he fought in the future, no matter what wealth he accumulated or power he wielded, his greatest achievement was already sleeping under his roof.

He possessed a magnificent, unparalleled masterpiece of a family, and as he closed his eyes, pulling Sheher closer to his heart, Don Dario Vellucci knew he would spend the rest of his days defending his heaven on earth.
