Chapter Seven #2

Condoms kept for human lovers, playing the part. Dragons weren’t susceptible to most human diseases.

“Up to you. I’m good without.” To feel someone inside without a barrier? Oh, yeah.

Jim let out a moan. Daire imagined Jim running a slick hand over his stiff-as-a-brick shaft and wished he could see properly.

Jim lined his cock up, lifted Daire’s ankles over his shoulders, and sank inside, letting out a groan Daire felt clear down to his soul.

He hissed at the burn of the sudden intrusion.

He’d been taken roughly before, but usually by someone clumsy or uncaring, not by someone who knew how to do rough right, with just enough pain for pleasure.

Daire tightened his grip on the spindles.

Jim withdrew, then sank in again deeper.

He turned his head and kissed Daire’s calf.

What a tender gesture for someone who liked their sex on the turbulent side and didn’t feel the need to exchange last names.

He barely gave Daire enough time to adjust before sinking in fully and pulling back, establishing a demanding pace.

All Daire could do was clench his teeth and hold on while Jim reached places inside too long neglected. His strokes hit Daire’s sweet spot. “Ahhh!”

“That’s right, baby,” Jim growled, the sound a sexy stroke of velvet on leather. “Let me hear what I do to you.”

Daire would roar in his other form. He leveraged his legs, trying to pull Jim deeper, faster. The bedsprings creaked ominously while the headboard rapped against the wall. Daire let go of the spindles to protect his knuckles, grabbing Jim’s hair again instead.

Jim arched his neck back. “That’s it, baby. I want you to feel me into next week.”

No problem obeying on Daire’s account. He’d feel Jim’s fat cock for days—possibly longer in his fantasies. He sank the fingers of one hand into the dense mat on Jim’s chest. How much more could he take?

Jim showed no signs of slowing down, weight balanced on his bulging arms, thrusting in and pulling back, only to thrust urgently again. Too much, not enough. Squeaking bed, rapping headboard, guttural growls, sensations nearly too acute to bear.

The scent of sex filled the air. Pressure built inside. Daire didn’t know why he asked, but doing so felt right. “Can I touch myself?”

“Not yet.” Jim grabbed the base of Daire’s cock, stemming the rising tide of orgasm.

Daire whined. Damn, but he needed. Every nerve ending burned.

Jim abruptly pulled out, flipping Daire onto his stomach and dropping down, plastering his chest to Daire’s shirt-covered back and thrusting in again. How could anything feel so good and not drive them both insane?

Jim retreated, his grip firm on Daire’s hips, bringing Daire along onto his knees, ass presented for the taking. “I want to watch myself spreading your ass. When I saw you walking into the bar, I couldn’t think of anything else but getting my hands on you.”

And here Daire thought Jim hadn’t noticed him right away.

“Damn, you’re fine,” Jim rumbled, never breaking stride. Still holding tight, he established a hard rhythm, rocking the entire bed, possibly the whole cabin, gripping tightly enough to leave finger-shaped bruises on Daire’s ass.

Daire kneaded the quilt, pushing back to offer a better angle, releasing a strangled cry. Once more, desire rode him. He needed so damned badly. “Please, can I come?” Please, please, please.

Jim lowered himself down onto Daire’s back again, taking them both to the mattress. “I do love hearing you beg. Do it. I wanna feel you clench around me.”

Daire snaked a hand between his body and the quilt, squeezing his desperate cock. He needed this, wanted this, yet didn’t want to end things too soon. He gripped the base of his cock hard, panting, trying to think of anything but how good Jim made him feel.

No use. Every nerve screamed, and Jim owned Daire’s body right now.

Jim slammed in and froze, shaking the entire bed. “Let go,” he ordered.

Daire obeyed, Jim’s name on his lips.

Daire lay on his side, head resting on Jim’s chest while he caught his breath. Sweat beaded on his forehead and other body parts. He skated his fingertips over a sweat-slicked arm. His heart raced. His ass throbbed. Even his neck stung from the nearly vicious love bite.

He’d never figured his rough lover for the night might be a cuddler, but Jim had wrapped an arm around Daire, pulling him close after sex like cuddling came naturally, allowing Daire the opportunity to breathe in the nearly forgotten scent of dragon, though he still couldn’t place the court.

He said nothing, afraid of ending the moment. Neither addressed both being dragons in this quiet aftermath. Fine, since Daire spent most of his time pretending to be human. Homesickness washed over him, the need to spend more time with another of his kind.

Most casual lovers left after sex, heading back to their own homes, likely far nicer than this little cabin by the river. Or Daire dressed and went home at the first opportunity. But did Jim really have to go? The bed felt too cozy with his warm bulk between the sheets.

“Stay the night?” Daire asked. Fuck! What the fuck was wrong with him? He didn’t ask men to spend the night. They both always knew why they were there. Achieving the orgasm goal meant leaving. Sometimes, never to see each other again.

But another dragon. After so long alone.

The thought of not seeing Jim after tonight made Daire’s heart ache. Goddess, he’d forgotten the comfort another dragon afforded, like he’d gone back in time to spend a night with another warrior, and tomorrow he’d rejoin the rest of his unit for sparring practice. Then go see his family.

“I wish I could stay,” Jim said, voice gravelly but sincere. “I’ve got to get on the road, though.”

Betas weren’t as astute at reading emotions as alphas or even omegas, but the regret came through clearly.

“It’s supposed to rain again later,” Daire offered. “Wouldn’t it be better to wait out the storm here?” What the hell was he doing? Begging a lover to stay? He’d beg a man to fuck him all day long, but never to stay.

Jim pulled Daire closer still, pressing a kiss to his forehead. “I’ll stay for a while, maybe have another round, but then I really have to go. Sorry. Trust me, I don’t want to.”

They lay together long enough for Daire to pretend Jim wouldn’t leave. Gentle fingers stroked his arms, his chest, his face…. All the while, the gloved hand didn’t come near. If Jim didn’t want to talk about the reason for keeping his hand covered, Daire wouldn’t ask. A deformity? An injury?

Maybe if he let Jim know secrets were safe here, he’d relax. Daire sat up, shrugging out of the remainder of his shirt and revealing his scars to someone besides medical workers for the first time.

The dim bedroom likely hid the full extent of his injuries, but not all. He waited for a sudden intake of breath, some comment, or question.

Instead, Jim pulled him back down, kissing his shoulder, and tossed the shredded shirt onto the floor. Daire had forgotten that among dragons, scars were honorable, not blemishes. A human might care. A beta dragon wouldn’t.

Daire closed his eyes and drifted off to the drumming of a steady heartbeat in his ear.

He woke twice during the night to glittering eyes staring at him, igniting the fires once more.

They fit like they’d been together for years, falling into a rhythm, though Jim thankfully didn’t repeat the energetic fucking from earlier.

Daire loved passionate sex, but he couldn’t take much more hammering tonight.

Each time they fell asleep again in each other’s arms, not worrying about wet spots, or that one more round might tear the house down around them.

Daire woke at sunrise to an empty bed, worn out, his body sated, yet feeling more alone than ever before.
