Chapter 52 Exceptional Learning Ability

After Mark had put the cuffs on Ali, he initially tried to get him into the police car by himself, but he failed.

Looking at the tall, skinny, yet heavy-as-a-pig Ali, he called back, "Emma, give me a hand."

"Okay," Emma replied. Kendall was about to step up to help, but to her surprise, Nathan, who had been standing closely beside her, moved first and took hold of Ali's legs.

With Nathan's help, not only was Kendall not needed, but Emma was able to stand back, too.

Ali's weight was that of a normal adult male. Nathan and Mark worked together and managed to shove him into the back seat of the police car.

Once they were done, Mark dusted off his hands and thanked Nathan. "Thanks, buddy."

Nathan didn't reply, shrinking back like a shadow behind Kendall.

Kendall spoke up to Mark, "I don't need to go back to the station for a statement today, do I? Can we just call this a good deed done anonymously?"

Mark knew Kendall's identity and understood why she wanted to remain low-key.

He nodded. "If we confirm he's committed a crime, then yes, you can."

If Ali hadn't actually broken the law and Kendall had filed a false report, Ali could turn around and press charges against her.

Mark turned to Emma. "Do we have evidence of his crimes?"

Emma nodded, still holding Ali's phone. Thinking of the contents, a sense of psychological disgust for Ali welled up in her. "Yes, it's all on this phone."

"That settles it," Mark said, standing straight and giving Kendall a sincere salute.

"Thank you for your silent contribution to society." In a short time, this was the third criminal Kendall had apprehended.

"It's nothing, really. Just make sure he gets the punishment he deserves. We'll head off now," Kendall said, waving her hand and walking back the way they came with Nathan.

The mission was officially complete!

Kendall had absolutely no fear of what would happen when Ali woke up. She had been careful to strike Ali in a blind spot of both the parking lot and any surveillance cameras.

She was standing behind Ali when she used the frying pan. Simply put, aside from her and Nathan, not even Ali himself knew what her weapon was.

Moreover, by the time Ali woke up, the police would have already notified the victims on his contacts list. The exposure of his actions alone would be enough to ruin the rest of his life.

Kendall brought Nathan back to the arcade. Passing the claw machines, she noticed the girl who had been playing with Ali was gone. They returned to the machine they'd been at earlier. Kendall pointed a finger. "Do you still want to play this?"

"Play," Nathan responded. Before Kendall could put tokens in, he took the game tokens Kendall had given him out of his own pocket and inserted them into the machine.

Kendall had said earlier that she'd treat him to dinner if he won the two specific toys.

The pink teddy bear was on top and easy to grab, but the blue baby dinosaur was trapped under other toys, making it very difficult to extract.

Nathan had only managed to move most of the toys off the dinosaur after many tries. He pursed his lips, his dark eyes focused intently on the toys in the glass case. His refined profile, with its high-bridged nose, showed a hint of stubbornness.

Seeing Nathan figure out how to insert tokens and play the claw machine himself in less than half a day, Kendall felt a strange sense of pride. She took out her phone, recorded a video of Nathan playing, and sent it to Victoria.

Victoria appeared to be on her phone and instantly replied.

Victoria: "Kendall! Are you with Nathan?"

Victoria: "Is Nathan playing the claw machine?!"

Victoria: "Oh my gosh, he actually knows how to play the claw machine!"

Three messages burst out of the chat log, one after the other.

Even through the screen, Kendall could sense Victoria's intense excitement.

Kendall: "Mhm. I ran into him at Oakhaven University today. He's with me now."

Victoria, clearly delighted: "That's wonderful, wonderful! Thank you for your trouble. Have fun. Do you have enough money?"

Just as Kendall was about to type, she saw a transfer notification pop up.

[$200,000 transferred to you by Mrs. Sinclair]

Kendall was speechless. She suddenly understood where Neil's 'cash power' came from.

It was clearly an inherited trait!

Ten minutes later, Nathan finally clawed the blue baby dinosaur out from under the pile of toys. With the hardest one out, getting the remaining pink teddy bear was naturally easy.

Nathan held the two toys up to Kendall like a trophy, his eyes full of expectation.

He was much taller than Kendall, so he leaned down to present them, his white cotton T-shirt outlining the lean, powerful line of his waist.

Kendall took the toys. "What do you want to eat for lunch today? You pick, I'm paying."

Hearing Kendall say this, Nathan's lips couldn't help but curve slightly upward, his striking face breaking into a pure and innocent smile.

Kendall pulled out her phone to message Neil, asking when he would be done with his work, as she wanted to take Nathan out for a meal. Neil didn't reply right away, but Kendall wasn't worried, there was still over an hour until lunchtime.

Kendall took Nathan up to the second floor to play bowling and pool.

These were two things Nathan had never played before. He started out a bit awkward, but after Kendall explained the rules and movements, Nathan's learning ability proved exceptional, and he picked them up quickly.

Once Nathan had mastered the basics, Kendall noticed that every bowling ball he threw knocked down all the pins. A one-hundred percent strike rate!

The same was true for pool. Nathan controlled the angle and force of his shots with incredible precision. If he took a shot, the ball went in. Even the most difficult angles seemed to yield obediently to Nathan, resulting in a perfect pocket every time.

Kendall astutely realized that anything involving calculation seemed to be no challenge for Nathan.

Closer to noon, Neil finally finished his urgent matters and messaged Kendall back immediately. He had to leave town on a sudden business trip and needed to trouble Kendall to take Nathan home.

After asking about Nathan's tastes and preferences, Kendall found that his palate was similar to hers, leaning towards Italian cuisine style.

Kendall retrieved the items they'd checked, got into her car, and took Nathan to an Italian restaurant she frequented.

After they had eaten their fill, Kendall drove Nathan back to Diamond Enclave.

Kendall had a good memory, and after visiting the Sinclair family's villa once, her mind had automatically memorized the route.

It was Nathan, sitting in the passenger seat, who grew increasingly agitated as the familiar route came into view.

When Kendall pulled the car up to the Sinclair family gate, Victoria heard the noise and rushed out happily to greet them.

However, Nathan was hesitant to get out of the passenger seat.

Even after he did, all his attention and gaze were fixed on Kendall. Nathan looked wistfully at Kendall, his dependence on her practically overflowing from his eyes.
