Sam and Freddie are investigating a body found in the Anacostia River.
The Secret Service suddenly appears, grabs Sam and takes her to the bunker along with the rest of the family after a credible threat was received while Nick is out of the country on official business.
The Metro PD, uncertain whether Sam has been kidnapped, investigate the situation.
Sam’s ex-husband, Peter Gibson, is tortured and murdered, which sends Sam into an unexpected spiral of grief when it becomes clear he protected her from whomever has threatened their family. Nick’s mother, Nicoletta, gives an interview full of lies about him.
Shelby gives birth to Noah and breaks up with Avery after he says Sam’s name in the throes of passion.
Jeannie and Michael get married. Sam meets Fairfax Detective Cameron Green and encourages him to apply for the opening on her team left by the death of Detective Arnold.
Gonzo continues to grapple with complex grief over his partner’s murder.
The investigation leads to a most unexpected suspect and puts Sam and Nick in an awkward situation as they try to decide how to proceed.
