Chapter 11
“That’s the last thing,” Sage said, taping up the box full of clothes.
Sage was packing up to move to her new condo in Southbourne Hills. Since starting preparation to roll out the units in the South region, she saw a need to be there full time. It was time to get things in order at the warehouse and hire a new team for support.
“Back it up,” Portia directed, motioning for the mover’s truck to come further up the driveway. “Okay, stop!”
The driver damn near ran her over, almost running into the garage. Portia ran up to the driver’s window. “You didn’t see me back there!”
“Bitch, I can’t see shit!” Salem shouted from the driver’s side window.
“Move–get out!” Portia said, opening the door and pulling Salem’s arm. “I’ll do it.”
She sucked her teeth and hopped in the driver’s seat to readjust the truck for her and Sage to load their things.
“She thinks she better than me now that she’s taking my sister away,” Salem said, pouting as he approached Sage.
“Oh, staaawp,” Sage said, poking Salem’s stomach and embracing him in a hug. “You’re gonna miss me, huh?”
“Yesss bitch!” Salem whined. “Who am I going to run shit up with now!?”
“Bruh, Westbourne is only 30 minutes from the South side. Chill,” Sage said. “You know you can come up whenever you want. That’s if you're not too busy with your new boo.”
Sage playfully nudged his arm. Salem had been teasing about how little time he'd spent with Sage lately, blaming it on Portia taking up all her attention, while conveniently sidestepping the fact that someone else had been filling up most of his time as well.
“I don’t even know what you’re talking about,” Salem replied, shooing Sage off as he rolled his eyes.
“Mhm,” Portia said, approaching them. “Don’t act like we don’t know about you and Felix.”
“Mind ya business,” Salem said, folding his arms.
Sage walked out of the garage with another box. “Alright, you two. Stop talking shit and help me get the rest of this shit so we can head down the road.”
