Chapter 25 #2
“Let me just tell the guys where we’re going.” He gives me a quick peck on my temple and pulls out his phone. A few moments pass as he does something on his phone. “Yeah, they’re exactly where I figured they’d be.”
“What are they doing?” I try to peek at his screen.
He pockets the phone. “Everyone.”
“Of course they are.” Quinn gathers her clutch from the bar. “See, I told you, Livianna. Ten more minutes up there, and Ella and I would have some stories to tell.”
“At least they’re enjoying themselves.” I finish my champagne and slip my purse strap over my shoulder.
The two guards fall into position in silence as we leave the gaming room, flanking us down a long, marble-floored corridor.
“Where exactly are we going?” Quinn falls into step at my side.
“There’s a club on the fourth level.” Callum weaves his fingers with mine. “We have a VIP section reserved.”
“Is it in this hotel?” Ella drops in on Callum’s other side.
“Yep.” He steers us toward an elevator.
“VIP style. Nice.” Ella wraps her arm through his.
He glances over at her. “Tonight’s on me.”
“Now that’s something to celebrate.” Quinn stays at my side.
Callum slides his palm to the small of my back as we stroll down the walkway. “Are you having fun tonight?”
“I’m getting there.” I lean against him.
The corridor turns, and the casino floor fades behind us, leaving only the low hum of the hotel in its quieter edges.
I gaze up at Callum. “Do you wish you were upstairs with the guys?”
He guides us around the corner. “Not even a little.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, I’m positive.”
My chest tightens. “When we were apart, were you included in those kinds of escapades?”
“Livianna, let’s not go there.” He chuckles in a nervous tone. “Unless you’re trying to start a fight.”
“No, I was just curious.” I resist pushing for more information.
“Lily.” He adjusts his arm around me. “You know I have a past, and so do you. We can’t change them, so let’s focus on the present.”
“I guess I have my answer.”
“This isn’t gonna ruin the night, is it?” He slows his stride.
I do as well. “No. It’s just hard when you have your memories, and I have these broken, embarrassing ones that don’t make sense.”
“So you know, I would trade every one of my past indiscretions for nights like tonight. I don’t miss them at all. I don’t even think about them, and neither should you. You’re the only woman I’ve ever wanted, and I mean that with all my heart.”
“That’s very sweet.” I increase our pace with an unease sitting in my gut.
Questioning him about his past lovers has nothing to do with how I’m feeling. I don’t really care.
It’s the guilt from what I did at the bar that still sits in the hollow of my rib cage. I aimed my emotions in his direction because he was standing close enough to catch them.
I took what was mine for texting Jaxon Crowne while celebrating my upcoming wedding and handed it to the person who deserves none of it. And the worst part is that Callum believes me without a second thought.
God, I’m pathetic.
After enjoying a great night dancing and living it up with our friends, Callum and I return to the penthouse.
He guides me into the bedroom. “Now for the good stuff.”
“I couldn’t agree more.”
The Vegas lights blur through the floor-to-ceiling windows of our room, painting the area in hues of neon gold and electric blue.
I yank Callum’s shirt off. “You first.”
“I’m not gonna fight you on that.” He helps me by removing the rest of his clothes while I undress in front of him.
I get on my knees in front of Callum, the plush carpet cushioning my position as I gaze up at him. His sleek, toned body is on full display.
“Fucking hell, vixen.” His fingers tangle in my hair as I lean forward.
I take him in my hand first, eyeing his length and girth. He’s already hard for me, and that knowledge sends a thrill straight through my most intimate parts. My mouth waters as I bring him closer, parting my lips.
“That’s it.” He moans, and I smile before taking him down my throat.
I swirl my tongue around his tip, taking in the sharp inhale of his breath. His fingers tighten in my hair, not guiding, just holding on as I take more of him.
“Like that, Lily.” His voice is rough with need. “Just like that, love.”
I hollow my cheeks, creating suction as I pull back slowly, then take him deeper again. The rhythm is natural, like my mouth was made for this.
I peek up through my lashes. His head falls back, and his throat works as he swallows hard.
“Fuck, Lily.” His hips shift slightly. “You’re so good at this.”
My heart swells with his praise. I hum around him, the vibration making him curse under his breath.
I bring my free hand up to cup his balls, rolling them gently as I work him between my lips. The power I hold in this moment is heady, almost as intoxicating as the alcohol still warming my veins.
“Look at me, Lily.”
I obey, maintaining eye contact as I take him as deep as I can. The slight burn in my throat is nothing compared to the fire building between my thighs.
His control is slipping now, his hips beginning to move in shallow thrusts. “I’m getting close.”
I don’t slow down. If anything, I increase my pace, my tongue working feverishly against the sensitive underside of his shaft.
I gaze up at his face. A fuzzy vision distorts his features, and I blink. Only for a clearer image of Jaxon to appear.
What the hell?
“Livianna, fuck!” Callum’s stomach muscles flex. “I don’t wanna come yet.”
He lifts me from the floor and pulls me toward the bed. I’m still processing why I just pictured Jaxon, and my stomach spins.
Callum lies back, bringing me on top of him. Once again, Jax appears.
I jerk away, shifting off Callum. “Stop. I can’t do this.”
